Abstract: Propylene oxide reaction products, and the salts or quaternization products thereof are provided which are obtained from(a) an at least trihydric aliphatic alcohol of 3 to 10 carbon atoms,(b) 1,2-propylene oxide,(c) an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid of 2 to 10 carbon atoms, an aromatic dicarboxylic acid of 8 to 12 carbon atoms or the anhydrides thereof, and at least one of the following components:(d) an aliphatic diol with a molecular weight of at most 2000,(e) a fatty alcohol containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms,(f) a fatty acid containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms, and(g) an aliphatic monoamine or diamine containing 2 to 12 carbon atoms,of which component (g) is used only at the conclusion and only if component (c) is ethylenically unsaturated. The inventive products are suitable for widely varying uses in textile finishing.
Abstract: Polytetramethylene ether glycols with molecular weights of from 300 to 4500 are produced by polymerizing tetrahydrofuran with an adduct of antimony pentachloride with carboxylic acids or carboxylic acid esters as the catalyst in the presence of a carboxylic acid anhydride, e.g., acetic anhydride, as the promoter. Esterified, e.g., acetylated, polytetramethylene ether glycols produced are subsequently converted to polytetramethylene ether glycols by saponification or transesterification. The process causes substantially less environmental pollution than do prior art methods, yet it is both economical and flexible.

Abstract: Compounds containing a lipophilic radical, a polyethyleneoxy group and an ethylenically unsaturated radical are disclosed. The compounds are useful as nonionic monomeric emulsion stabilizers.
Abstract: Compounds containing peroxy linkages connecting similar polyol ester constituents are described. These peroxy di-ester polyols are prepared by the direct esterification of peroxy diacids with polyols, in the presence of a strong mineral acid catalyst. The peroxy di-ester polyol products function as free radical initiators and grafting bases in the graft copolymerization of unsaturated monomers with polyols. These graft copolymers are useful in the formulation of polyurethanes.

Abstract: Polyether-ester polyols are prepared in the presence of from 0.005 percent to 0.01 percent by weight (50-100 ppm) of a trialkylamine. The resulting polyols have improved color and are obtained in markedly reduced reaction times.
Abstract: A process for the production of an alkylene glycol ether ester of an organic carboxylic acid which comprises the step of reacting an alkylene oxide with an ester of organic carboxylic acid in accordance with the following reaction equation: ##STR1## wherein R" is a substituted or non-substituted hydrocarbon having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom;R'" is a substituted or non-substituted hydrocarbon having 1 to 20 carbon atoms;R.sup.3 are each the same or different substituted or non-substituted hydrocarbon having 1 to 10 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom;Q is simultaneously the same or different groups X, R, OR, SR, NR.sub.2 or PR.sub.2 (wherein X is a halogen atom selected from the group consisting of Cl, Br, and I, and R is the same or different substituted or non-substituted hydrocarbon having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom, and a combination of all Q=R does not occur).
Abstract: Process for the even dyeing of synthetic fiber materials and mixtures thereof with natural fibers with water-insoluble disperse dyes according to the exhaustion method, which comprises adding to the dyebath as levelling agents linear water-soluble, or dispersible polyesters containing sulfo groups.

Abstract: Mixtures of glycols, monomers and oligomers are disclosed which mixtures are converted to terephthalate ester polyols. These terephthalate ester polyols are useful in the production of polyurethane foams. When these polyols are employed to produce polyurethane foams, the resulting foams exhibit excellent flame properties.
Abstract: For inhibiting corrosion and scale on ferrous metal parts in a circulating water system there is added to the water in such system from 10 to 500 ppm of a partial ester of a polyfunctional acid having a free carboxylate, phosphonate or sulfonate group and another carboxyl group which is esterified with a polyoxyalkylated derivative of an alkyl, alkaryl, or alkenyl alcohol having a terminal hydrocarbon group of 8-20 carbon atoms. In some preferred embodiments there is added with the partial ester from 10 to 500 ppm of a dispersible oil which may also include a surface active agent for dispersing the oil in water. Preferred partial esters include partial esters of citric, malic, tartaric, maleic, adipic and phthalic acids partially esterified with an alkyl polyoxyethylene alcohol having 2 to 4 ethoxy groups.

Abstract: Carboxyl terminated polymers prepared by reacting a cyclic anhydride with a liquid polymeric hydroxyl terminated polymer selected from polyethers, polydienes, and copolymers of the dienes with styrene or acrylonitrile in the presence of a catalyst selected from quaternary ammonium salts and from halogen acid salts of amines. The carboxyl terminated polymers can be used as flexibilizers in epoxy resins.
Abstract: Novel polyoxyalkylene fluoroalkyltrimellitate compounds are disclosed that are useful for improving the soil release properties of textiles. These compounds may be conveniently prepared by reacting a fluorinated alkyl thiol or amine with trimellitic anhydride monoacid chloride to form a fluorinated trimellitic anhydride intermediate product which is then reacted with a polyoxyalkylene derivative.
