Patent number: 5335488Abstract: A cable is provided for attacking rotating wing aircraft by breaking and/or fouling rotor blades and/or blade pitch adjusting mechanisms. The cable comprises a stretchable core and shallow helix angle outer strands. A high hysteresis rubber or rubber-like material occupies the spaces between the strands and the core. The high hysteresis material prevents the cable from bouncing off the rotor blades when coming into contact therewith.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1992Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Inventor: Richard F. Patent number: 5303498Abstract: A fishing line composed of a strand of a plurality of steel wires twisted together and coated with synthetic resin, wherein the steel wire is a low carbon duplex structure steel wire in the fibrous fine metallic structure having a tensile strength of 300 to 600 kgf/mm.sup.2 and coated by plating with anticorrosive metal on the outer surface, the twist pitch of the strand being 13 to 20 times the diameter thereof and the thickness of coating layer of synthetic resin being 4 .mu.m or more. This fishing line is high in tensile strength and knot strength, and is hardly kinked or curled when subjected to impact.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 1992Date of Patent: April 19, 1994Assignees: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Sekio Sho, Daiwa Seiko, Inc.Inventors: Toshiaki Yutori, Yutaka Kanetsuki, Masaaki Katsumata, Atsushi Kikuchi

Patent number: 5075952Abstract: A method of cladding a reduced diameter portion of a cable wherein the reduced diameter portion is created by grinding the external surfaces of the cable. The cladding is placed around the reduced diameter portion of the cable and is likewise reduced in diameter by rolling, hammering, or other external force. In this manner, a cable cladding can be accomplished without adversely effecting the flexibility of the length of cable.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1990Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: Meflex Telecontrol GmbHInventor: Martin Pfaff

Patent number: 4870814Abstract: A process is disclosed for manufacturing corrosion resistant cable. In the process, a corrosion resistant, organic based, alkyl silicate-zinc coating solution is applied to wire as the wire is twisted into cable. The solution dries on the wire in air, leaving an inorganic silicate-zinc coating on the wire. The cable is then coated with a plastic. The process is particularly useful for manufacturing brake cables.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1988Date of Patent: October 3, 1989Assignee: Orscheln Co.Inventors: Tharayil Chacko, Wayne Soucie, Elroy J. Patent number: 4635432Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of continuously impregnating and encapsulating a wire rope with a liquid polymer formed from at least two reactive components which when mixed and heated together react chemically to form the polymer. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the components are separately pumped into a mixer and then into an injection die, and a preheated wire rope is passed through the injection die. The wire rope is preheated to a temperature sufficient to initiate reaction of the components. The reaction of the components forms the liquid polymer which continuously flows into the voids or spaces of the wire rope and encapsulates the outer surface of the wire rope. The liquid polymer cures in and around the wire rope to form a unitary impregnated and encapsulated wire rope.Type: GrantFiled: April 10, 1985Date of Patent: January 13, 1987Assignee: Wire Rope Corporation of America, Inc.Inventor: Claude R.
