  • Patent number: 4962262
Abstract: 1-Olefin polymer waxes having a very narrow molecular weight distribution, high isotacticity, a narrow grain size distribution and a high bulk density are obtained by means of a catalyst comprising a chiral, stereorigid metallocene compound and an aluminoxane, in the presence of small amounts of hydrogen during the polymerization.

  • Patent number: 4923624
Abstract: Lubricating composition on the basis of waxy substances supported by means able to allow it to be applied by rubbing onto the bases of skis and the like, constituted by a blend formed by at least one hydrocarbon wax (ski-wax) dissolved in at least one solvent for said wax, said composition being absorbed by impregnation onto a flexible and porous support of paper, of fabric, of foamed resin and the like, of small dimensions, so to form an article able to transfer, by rubbing, said composition onto said soles and the like. Said solvent is preferably constituted by at least one hydrogenated naphthalene, such as decahydronaphthalene (decalin), or by mixtures of solvents containing at least 10% of decahydronaphthalene. The article is then tightly sealed inside a waterproof package.

  • Patent number: 4820876
Abstract: Synthetic polyethylene wax having low molecular weight of 250 to 3000 and a density of 0.930 to 0.950 is prepared in a high pressure process at pressures of at least 800 bar using a carbonyl compound such as acetaldehyde as chain transfer agent. The resulting wax with incorporated CO has good compatibility in hot melt systems, and may be stripped to remove light ends, increase density and crystallinity and improve thermal stability.

  • Patent number: 4788361
Abstract: A triblock copolymer VI improver comprising terminal hydrogenated polyisoprene blocks and a central polymeric block containing predominantly monoalkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon monomer units. Oil compositions comprising such triblock copolymer VI improvers exhibit a good balance between thickening efficiency and mechanical shear stability combined with relatively high HTHSR viscosities.

  • Patent number: 4687587
Abstract: A lubricant for metal forming comprises a dispersion of particles of a waxy material in a solution or dispersion in a volatile liquid medium of a monomeric organic carrier which is a solid or a viscous liquid at ambient temperature. The particles may be 5-25 microns, the volatile liquid may be xylene, the carrier may be an ester with a MW below 320 and the weight ratio of particles to carrier may be 1:1 to 6:1. The waxy particles provide good lubricating performance without coalescing under load. The lubricant is compatible with adhesive and is easily removed from a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4670174
Abstract: A colloid lubricant is provided which has the lubricating characteristics of grease, but which is not sticky like grease. The lubricant is formed of a mixture of wax and oil, preferably paraffin and mineral oil, mixed in approximately equal proportions. The lubricant is particularly useful for lubricating valves in musical wind instruments.

  • Patent number: 4639255
Abstract: Engine deposits are controlled by dispensing an additive to fuel. In one aspect, the additive comprises paraffins. In another aspect, a solid form additive for dispensing fuel additive to fuel in solid form is provided by employing a structural agent which is soluble and dispersible in fuel to contain and provide dimensional stability to the additive.

  • Patent number: 4465883
Abstract: A bullet lubricant is disclosed which includes a miscible amount of low molecular weight polyethylene polymer or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers in a wax base. The lubricant has a melting point in excess of 180.degree. F. The lubricant is applied by first heating a bullet and the mix to a pre-determined temperature then coating the bullet and cooling the bullet to allow the lubricant to solidify.

  • Patent number: 4242861
Abstract: A twister ring lubricant is formulated using a major portion of paraffin wax and a minor portion of conventional oil or grease. In the manufacture of ply which is used in making cord, the individual filaments are fed through the eye of a nylon traveler which spins around a steel twister ring. Two or more plies are cabled to form a cord also using a traveler which spins around a twister ring. The twister ring lubricant reduces the sliding friction between the nylon traveler and the steel twister ring.
