Abstract: An implantable penile prosthesis is attachable to a pump and a reservoir and includes a distal part formed by a rear tip that is connected to a proximal part formed by a cylinder. The cylinder is oriented on a first longitudinal axis, and a distal portion of the rear tip forms a fluid chamber communicating with the cylinder. A tubing junction is integrally formed with the distal portion and communicates with the fluid chamber in the rear tip. A strain relief portion has a bore disposed on a second longitudinal axis, where the second longitudinal axis forms an acute angle relative to the first longitudinal axis, and the acute angle has a measurement that does not exceed 5 degrees. An exterior surface of the rear tip, between the tubing junction and the cylinder, provides the distal portion of the rear tip with a constant outer diameter.

An entirety of the pad is recessed relative to the outer peripheral rim such that the outer peripheral rim defines a maxima of the activation surface.

Abstract: A penile prosthesis is disclosed that can alternate between an erect and flaccid state based on the shape memory properties of an exoskeleton that is responsive to increases and decreases in temperature. The exoskeleton consists of a shape memory alloy, such as nitinol, which in the erect configuration can radially expand and resist axial loads and buckling forces during coitus. The shape memory alloy is temperature-tuned to undergo a change to an erect state under external application of heat and can revert to a flaccid state with cooling below resting penile temperature.

Abstract: A method treating erectile dysfunction includes implanting a penile implant including a first bladder and a second bladder, the second bladder filled with a liquid having a rest viscosity. The method additionally includes increasing a pressure in the first bladder of the penile implant from a first pressure to a second pressure, and increasing a viscosity in the liquid from the rest viscosity to a second viscosity greater than the rest viscosity. The method further includes maintaining the first bladder of the penile implant at the second pressure and the liquid in the second bladder at the second viscosity.

Abstract: A penile prosthetic includes a proximal tip in communication with a reservoir, a cylinder bladder connected at a proximal end to the proximal tip and extending to a distal end, and peristaltic tubing disposed inside the cylinder bladder. The peristaltic tubing has a proximal end that communicates with the reservoir and a distal end that is open to the cylinder bladder. Peristaltic compression applied from the proximal end to the distal end of the peristaltic tubing pumps fluid from the reservoir into the cylinder bladder.

Abstract: According to various embodiments, an IPP includes unbiased one-way check valve assemblies either independently or in conjunction with other valve assemblies to direct fluid into and evacuate fluid out of inflatable penile cylinders. The fluid transfer system transfers fluid from the fluid reservoir to inflatable penile cylinders and includes a fluid transfer bulb, unbiased inlet valve assembly, unbiased exhaust valve assembly and spool valve assembly. The cylinder deflate mechanism evacuates fluid from the penile cylinders to the reservoir and includes a deflate actuator, unbiased return valve assembly, and spool valve assembly.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of augmenting the glans that can safely and naturally expand the glans without causing problems such as an unnatural rough or shiny surface of the glans and the severe side effects of epidermal necrosis, which are caused by the conventional method of augmenting the glans. The method includes inserting an injector needle for injecting a filler into the central area of the lamina propria through the peripheral area of the ostium urethrae externum of the glans, slowly injecting the filler while checking with visual and tactual senses that the glans tissue where the filler is injected swells up and becomes tight and pressure resistance occurs and is maintained during injection of the filler, and slowly injecting the filler whereby the filler is uniformly spread by changing the depth and the direction of the inserted injector needle to expand half the glans area with a one-time injection.

  • Patent number: 8376930
Abstract: An implantable system for erectile dysfunction treatment includes an implantable pump having an inlet and an outlet port. The inlet port is configured to receive blood from an artery within the body. The outlet port is configured to receive the blood from the inlet port and deliver that blood to an artery having a direct or indirect path to the corpora cavernosa of the penis. Activation of the pump, preferably via manual compression or electrical activation, causes the transfer of blood and ultimately an erection. Upon conclusion of sexual activity, blood drains from the penis in a normal manner and returns the penis to a flaccid state. The pump preferably incorporates a non-return valve to prevent backflow of blood from outlet port to inlet port.
