  • Patent number: 11957829
Abstract: A system comprises a negative-pressure source including a pump and an electric motor for maintaining negative-pressure at the wound and a pressure sensor for sensing a wound site pressure (WP). The system further comprises a system controller coupled to the first pressure sensor and the electric motor. The system controller maintains the wound site pressure (WP) within a hysteresis band by the application of power to the electric motor from a battery power source, based upon, at least in part a flow rate (FR) of fluid between the pump and the wound site as determined by the system controller. The hysteresis band including a maximum wound site pressure (WPMax) and a minimum wound site pressure (WPMin).

Abstract: A system for treating a linear wound on a patient has a closing dressing bolster for placing on the patient's epidermis over the linear wound, a sealing subsystem for providing a seal over the closing dressing bolster and the patient, and a reduced-pressure subsystem for delivering reduced pressure to the sealing subsystem. The sealing subsystem and reduced pressure subsystem are operable to deliver reduced pressure to the closing dressing bolster. The closing dressing bolster is operable under reduced pressure to develop a inward closing. The closing dressing bolster may include one or more closing members on each side of a center wound area to create the inward closing when under reduced pressure. A compressive force may also be developed. Other systems and methods are presented.

Abstract: A system for monitoring and controlling negative pressure wound therapy includes a microcontroller that controls means for maintaining reduced air pressure based on a pressure signal from a pressure sensor. The means for maintaining reduced air pressure may include a vacuum pump and valve. The system includes a mobile communication device having a microprocessor, touchscreen display, data storage device, GPS module, and wireless transceiver. The microprocessor generates control signals sent to the microcontroller to control the means for maintaining reduced air pressure to provide continuous or intermittent reduced air pressure. The microprocessor monitors the pressure signal and generates a closed-system alarm, leak-detected alarm or open-system alarm. The closed-system alarm indicates an air pressure leak rate below a closed-system threshold. The leak-detected alarm indicates an air pressure leak rate above a leak-detected threshold and below an open-system threshold.

  • Patent number: 9028526
Abstract: A method is disclosed for preparing a soft tissue site, and augmenting the soft tissue site, such as the breast(s), scar, depression, or other defect, of a subject through use of devices that exert a distractive force on the breast(s) and grafting of autologous fat tissue such as domes with sealing rims for surrounding each of the soft tissue site and a regulated pump. The method for preparing the soft tissue site, and enhancing fat graft results, entails application of the distracting force to the targeted soft tissue site at least intermittently for some period of time and preferably several weeks prior to the graft procedure. A related aspect of the invention includes following the preparation steps by transfer of fat from other areas of the subject to the subject's soft tissue site, and then reapplication of the distractive force to the soft tissue site that received the autologous fat graft.

Abstract: Systems and methods to treat obstructive sleep apnea draw soft tissue of the front of the neck of the subject, in particular at or near the oropharynx, into a cavity by applying negative pressure. The opening of the cavity is formed by a rim of a body that is configured to be engaged, externally, with a medial portion of the anterior side of the neck such that engagement between the rim and the neck forms a chamber that can be sealed from atmospheric pressure. Movement of the soft tissue may thus reduce temporary airway obstruction.
