Couch, Chair, Or Other Body Support Patents (Class 601/98)
  • Patent number: 7207954
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for therapeutically treating bone fractures, osteopenia, osteoporosis, or other tissue conditions. A platform supports a body to be treated. An oscillator is positioned within the platform and is configured to impart an oscillating force on the body. A capacitor assembly is positioned adjacent the platform for automatically determining the mass of the body being supported on the platform. Once the mass of the body is determined, an amplitude of the frequency of the oscillating force is adjusted to provide a desired therapeutic treatment to the patient. Also, the capacitor assembly is configured to turn the oscillator on and off as a function of whether or not a body is being supported on the platform.

Abstract: A device and method are provided for massaging a body area of a user, such as a sphincter muscle of the user. The device includes a basic plate, an upper plate supported the basic plate, and a massaging member mounted on the upper plate. The massaging member includes an opening disposed in the massaging member, a massaging plate disposed within the opening for providing space to move the massaging plate within the opening in a reciprocating manner, and a mechanism for movably engaging the massaging plate with the upper plate. When the massaging plate is moved in the reciprocating manner after the user sits on a portion of the massaging plate, the body area of the user is massaged by the massaging plate.

Abstract: An orthotic apparatus for use in providing improved range of motion is provided which allows the amount of stretch to be hydraulically powered and measured by the device, but controlled by the user. Because the apparatus accurately calculates the amount of stretch, the user, together with the user's physician and therapist, can develop a rehabilitation plan based on accurate measurements. Progress is based on tangible results rather than the user's ability to tolerate pain. This knowledge provides the incentive the user needs to work toward and achieve the user's goal.

Abstract: Both feet independently supported and circularly rotating exerciser including a base seat, a driving motor, a pair of driven wheels, a transmission member, a pair of linking members and a pair of foot support members. When the driving wheel of the driving motor rotates, the transmission member is driven to make the pair of driven wheels rotate and further make the pair of linking members deflect and swing up and down. At this time, the foot support members move in a circular or substantially circular path to exercise both feet. The rotation mode of the exerciser can be changed to excerise both feet in different specific patterns.
