  • Patent number: 6071252
Abstract: A massaging device having a very simple structure, which can be used directly or can be inserted in the back of massage chairs or the like comprises a post which supports, so that it can slide in a substantially vertical direction, a movable framework provided with massage wheels. Elements are provided for the translatory motion of the framework along the post to move the massage wheels in substantially vertical directions to perform a massaging action of the so-called "stretching" type. The structural simplicity of the device allows to significantly contain its production costs.

Abstract: A device for motioning selected body portions and supporting other body portions of a user seated thereon is provided. The device comprises a base member, a peripheral member, and an ischial pad. The ischial pad is operably connected to the body member and at least partially surrounded by the peripheral member. The ischial pad undulates about two orthogonal axes and relative to the peripheral member. The ischial pad isolates and engages the right and left ischial tuberosities of the user seated on the device for simulating the natural motion of the user's spine. The peripheral member supports the user's body portions proximate the ischium.

  • Patent number: 5876358
Abstract: A therapeutic arrangement for treating paravertebrae has a bed and a therapeutic device positioned in an opening formed in the bed. The therapeutic device has four movable cushions arranged at four corners of an H-shaped center frame. The center frame has a transverse member and two lateral pivotal arms connected to the ends of the transverse member, forming an H-shape. Each end of the pivotal arms carries one of the four cushions. The pivotal arms are connected by a coupling arm in one embodiment, each connected to an electro-mechanical moving device in another embodiment, and each connected to a pneumatic spring in yet another embodiment to control the movement of the pivotal arms so that the pads at the opposite ends of the same pivotal arm move in the opposite directions (up and down), enabling one of the pads attached to one of the pivotal arms to move in the same direction as one of the pads attached to the other of the pivotal arms.

  • Patent number: 5877570
Abstract: A driving device of the massaging chair including a main shaft, a bevel gear mounted on one end of the main shaft, a worm rod mounted on another end of the main shaft, and a driving rotor mounted slidably between the bevel and the worm rod. When the main shaft is driven by a motor to turn forward, the driving rotor is engaged with the bevel gear to actuate a kneading shaft of the massaging chair. When the main shaft is driven by the motor to turn backward, the driving rotor becomes disengaged with the bevel gear and moves away from the bevel gear to engage the worm rod so as to actuate a beating shaft of the massaging chair.

  • Patent number: 5813727
Abstract: A massaging chair is capable of assuring comfortable use, both in the sitting and lying positions. The massaging chair comprises a seat, a reclining backrest pivotally connected about a pivot axis to the seat so as to be movable between an upright position and a horizontal position with respect to the seat, and a massager is disposed on the side of the reclining backrest to give a massage to a back of a user resting on said seat. A pair of armrests are disposed on the opposite sides of said seat. The armrests are designed to extend arcuately substantially about the pivot axis of the backrest. With this arrangement, the user's arms on the armrests can be kept at a fixed comfortable angular relationship with respect to his or her body, irrespective of the varying angles of the reclining backrest on which the user rests with varying posture.

  • Patent number: 5752925
Abstract: The invention presents a method and device for increasing the fracture resistance of a bone tissue to a traumatic force. The method includes the step of selecting a nonphysiological impulse force having a location and direction resembling that of the traumatic force, but having a magnitude significantly smaller than the magnitude of the traumatic force. The impulse force is then repeatedly applied to the bone tissue, thereby stimulating the bone tissue to grow bone mass in critical areas where stresses from the traumatic force are largest. A device for applying the method includes an impulse force applicator for repeatedly applying the impulse force and a positioner for positioning the impulse force relative to the bone tissue.

Abstract: A bed for patients that require periodic movement of their body parts. The bed includes a rectangular frame with panel members transversally disposed. Each panel member is supported by a pair of eccentric members that in turn are rigidly mounted to two spaced apart shaft that are parallel to each other. The shafts are imparted a rotational force by a motor assembly that generates a reciprocating movement that is translated to a rotational movement applied to the shafts. The eccentric members cammingly engage the underside of the panels, and they are divided in two sets of eccentric members that are aligned with respect to each other so that each set is composed on non-adjacent alternate panels that are lifted when the panels of the other set are brought down.
