Means Attaching Bag To Seal Ring Patents (Class 604/342)
  • Patent number: 10463527
Abstract: An ostomy belt has an elastic support membrane with a fibrous surface and an aperture for accessing a stoma. The aperture is formed by the user in a preferred location, and the area around the aperture is stabilized against stretch by applying a patch of relatively inelastic hook material to the fibrous surface about the aperture. An elastic membrane of an adhesive bandage is similarly stabilized about an opening in the bandage, by a hook patch that may have a flap for securing an IV tube.

Abstract: The Ostomy Ring offers a reliable means of attaching an ostomy or other type bag to a patient via a surgically implanted magnetically susceptible material ring and an approximately sized magnetic ring placed over the skin and bag to secure the union and prevent leakage. Even a blind person could change their own bags without fear of leakage. A child could go to camp and ride a horse because there would be a reliable union between their stoma and their Ostomy Ring. In addition a semi-flexible Solid Ostomy Ring would also be available for the patient's use as an alternative to the outer magnetic ring. • Patent number: 8382732
Abstract: An ostomy coupling is disclosed comprising a floatable coupling part. The coupling part is supported with respect to an adhesive wafer by means of a flexible support collar that permits displacement of the coupling part in a floatable manner. The flexible collar comprises plastics film and has bistable shapes. The collar is configured to hold the coupling part stably in (i) an extended position spaced from the adhesive wafer, to facilitate an ostomate to manually brace the coupling part in order to relieve the attachment force when an ostomy appliance is press fitted to the coupling part, and (ii) in a retracted position close to the adhesive wafer.

  • Patent number: 8377020
Abstract: The present invention is an ostomy-bag cover that provides a waterproof covering for an ostomy bag. This permits a patient wearing an ostomy bag to shower or bathe without getting his or her ostomy bag wet. In some embodiments, the ostomy-bag cover is constructed such that the patient can engage in water related activities, including swimming, while wearing the ostomy-bag cover over the ostomy bag and prevent the ostomy bag from getting wet. In some embodiments, the ostomy-bag cover includes a resealable opening configured to allow the patient to empty the ostomy bag without the need to remove the ostomy-bag cover. In other embodiments, the ostomy-bag cover includes a waterproof exhaust vent to allow air to be removed from the ostomy-bag cover.

  • Patent number: 8366695
Abstract: An adapter is disclosed for an ostomy coupling. The adapter provides a floatable coupling characteristic to an ostomy body fitment that has a non-floatable coupling part. The adapter comprises a first coupling part for attaching to the non-floating coupling part of the body fitment, a second coupling part for releasably attaching to an ostomy appliance, and a flexible collar between the first and second coupling parts. The flexible collar permits the second coupling part to be displaced away from the first coupling part, thereby creating a space for an ostomate to manually brace the second coupling part against an attachment force when an appliance is fitted.

  • Patent number: 8343120
Abstract: The invention provides an ostomy bag assembly including an outer bag and an inner bag secured to one side of a flange. The inner bag is removable to facilitate disposal. The flange has a polymeric backing film and a layer of bioadhesive for securing the ostomy bag assembly to the body of a patient. The flange includes an orifice to enable bodily waste to be received by the inner bag. The outer bag is detachably bonded to a first attachment zone on the flange and the inner bag is secured to a second attachment zone on the flange. The outer bag is mounted to the flange by an annular bonding element is formed from a multilayer polymeric material comprising first and second ethylene vinyl acetate layers and a polymeric support layer interposed there between. A method of fabricating ostomy bags is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8328779
Abstract: A mounting assembly for an ostomy pouch. The assembly includes a body flange having an adhesive coating on one side adapted to be adhered to the peristomal skin surface of an osteomate. Diametrically opposed loops project from the edge of the flange and form pockets. Also included is an ostomy pouch having a stoma receiving opening surrounded by a stiffly flexible ring having diametrically opposed loops that cooperate with the pockets on the flange loops. An adhesive coating is provided on the flexible ring and there is a mechanical interlock between the ring and flange. When the loops on the flexible ring are aligned with the pockets on the flange the flange and ring may be adhesively interlocked to attach the pouch to the body flange.
