Abstract: A urine collection bag support for supporting a urine collection bag, worn by a male urinary incontinence patient in conjunction with an external catheter, provides a cloth pouch, wherein the urine collection bag is enveloped, so that both the cloth pouch and also the urine collection bag enveloped therein are commonly supported by a suspension strap attached to a belt worn by the patient. The cloth pouch and the urine collection bag enveloped therein swing freely across the patient's thigh when the male urinary incontinence patient engages in physical activity.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a male incontinence device comprising a form of brief having a waistband adapted to be worn around the waist of a male wearer, a reservoir assembly having an upper end securely attached to the waistband, and a penis condom having an upper end portion. The incontinence device includes a unique quick release and locking mechanism for the upper end of the penis condom to allow the same to be firmly attached to any size penis of a wearer of the device. The penis condom has a lower opening communicating via an anti-siphon valve with the reservoir. A drain assembly is coupled with the lower end of the reservoir to allow selective drainage of the reservoir, and the drain assembly has one or more fluid locking devices, to lock the drain assembly and prevent accidental drainage of the urine reservoir.

Abstract: A male incontinence device includes a receptacle formed of a shape-retaining material, and having a first open end adapted for receiving the penis of a user and a second end defining a urine discharge port. The discharge port is adapted for being located forward of the penis. A back flow chamber is formed with an interior of the receptacle, and is adapted for capturing urine flowing backward towards the user and away from the discharge port. A collection bag has a mouth communicating with the discharge port for collecting urine discharged through the receptacle. A support harness is adapted for being worn by the user to support the receptacle in an operative position during use.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a male incontinence device comprising a form of brief having a waistband adapted to be worn around the waist of a male wearer, a reservoir assembly having an upper end securely attached to the waistband, and a penis condom having an upper end portion. The incontinence device includes a unique quick release and locking mechanism for the upper end of the penis condom to allow the same to be firmly attached to any size penis of a wearer of the device. The penis condom has a lower opening communicating via an anti-siphon valve with the reservoir. A drain assembly is coupled with the lower end of the reservoir to allow selective drainage of the reservoir, and the drain assembly has one or more fluid locking devices, to lock the drain assembly and prevent accidental drainage of the urine reservoir.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses an incontinence device having a disposable urinary bag 18 having a plurality of attachment means 22 located on its outside surface for securement of the disposable urinary bag 18 to the adjustable attachment belt 14. Housed within the disposable urinary bag 18 is an absorbent material 34 for urine absorption. The disposable urinary bag 18 also has in its upper central region an elastic ring or seal 24 that provides a barrier against urine when a penis 36 is inserted into it. On the top portion of the elastic ring 24, a slit 28 is provided in conjunction with a sealing tab 26 with adhesive 32 to enlarge or constrict the size of the elastic ring 24.

Abstract: The present invention is a male urinary incontinence management device comprising a base support portion, an external condom catheter portion, and an adjustable strap portion. The base support portion has a periphery of generally uniform thickness, a concave rear surface, a stiffened central support portion, and an aperture which passes through the central portion. The external condom catheter portion is attached to the base support portion and is in fluid communication with the aperture. An adjustment means is carried by the base support portion. The adjustable strap portion releasably and adjustably attaches to the base support portion at the adjustment means. The base support portion can be used with either conventional external condom catheters or external condom catheters according to the present invention.

Abstract: The urine collecting assembly is provided having a urine receptacle and a urine collector. In the provided assembly, the urine receptacle has a male organ enclosing case with an outer vertical flange, an inner vertical flange and an outer horizontal flange. The urine receptacle also has a catheter connected to the case of the receptacle with its inner horizontal flange, this inner horizontal flange being mounted on the outer horizontal flange means of the case. The urine collector of the present invention has a collecting compartment and is connected to the catheter of the receptacle with a connecting tube. The outer vertical flange of the case of the receptacle is supporting the male organ of the patient so that the inner vertical flange of the case and the inner horizontal flange of the catheter are preventing the flow-back of the urine, thereby keeping the pubic area of the patient free of moisture.

Abstract: A urine bag holder for removably holding a urine bag to a leg of a user. The urine bag holder includes a panel having a top edge, a bottom edge, a first end edge and a second end edge. The panel comprising a flexible material having a inside surface and an outside surface. Each of a plurality of straps is attached to the outside surface and is positioned generally adjacent to the first end edge. Each of a plurality of fastening members removably fastens free ends of each of the straps to the outside surface of the panel. A plurality of securing members removably secure a urine bag to the panel by engaging holes in the urine bag.

Abstract: The present invention is a male catheter securing device for use on male patients having a catheter inserted within their penis. The device is comprised of a cylindrical sleeve portion comprised of strands of non-elastic resilient material. Each end of the cylindrical sleeve portion has attachment means, which anchor the device so as cause elongation and therefore, constriction of the strands when transverse force is applied to the device.

Abstract: The external male urinary catheter assembly has a flexible moisture barrier sheet with a penis passage. The penis passage has a plurality of flaps, separated by radial slots. These slots are extended outward to adjust passage diameter. A liquid absorbent material pad has an absorbent material pad passage that is coaxial with the penis passage. A cup member has an inlet end flange that is held in alignment with the penis passage by a harness plate and harness. The absorbent material pad is compressed between the cup member flange and the moisture barrier sheet. The absorbent material pad absorbs liquid that is adjacent to the penis passage as well as liquid that passes between the cup flange and the moisture barrier.

Abstract: What is disclosed is a non-invasive urine collecting device and method for storing urine therein. The device provides sanitary and modest means for concealing a catheter-type device underneath a man's clothing so that the tube cannot be observed, but the individual wearing said device may discharge urine into the tube which is stored therein until later removal. The device comprises a jock strap type harness with a pouch in front for securing the male penis into a nozzle which is fluidly coupled with a collection tube that extends downwardly towards a person's ankle and can be strapped to the individual's leg and clamped closed so as to collect the bodily fluids for disposal later.

Abstract: A drainage reservoir support assembly for supporting a reservoir of a medical drainage device inserted in a body of a user. The drainage reservoir support assembly includes at least one container for containing the reservoir of a medical drainage device. A first end of the container includes an access opening for providing access to an interior of the container. In one embodiment of the present invention, the reservoir of the medical drainage device is removably insertable in the interior of the container. A strap is provided for removably supporting the container from the neck of a user. The strap includes a first end and a second end with each of the ends of the strap being mounted on a peripheral wall of the container such that the strap forms a loop.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed that allows a caregiver to attach and then, when necessary, dispose of a bag that collects a patient's urine. The bag has an orifice surrounded by an elasticized portion that allows the penis to be inserted and then maintained in position. In the first embodiment of the invention, the bag is held by an adhesive or other type of attachment means to the outside of a diaper-like garment that includes an absorbent inner liner. In the second embodiment, the bag is kept and held inside a standard-type male undergarment (boxers or briefs). In the third embodiment, the bag is held in position outside the typical undergarment.

The pouch is composed of a permeable layer, an absorbent layer, and a waterproof layer. The urine bag can be worn to collect urine from a user who does not have convenient access to a toilet, and the urine bag is disposable after use.

Abstract: A sanitary device which may be applied and connected to the penis of a man suffering from urinary incontinence to contain urine emitted involuntarily, the sanitary device including an absorbent sheath for wrapping around and enclosing the penis, the sheath being made from a continuous piece of water impermeable material lined with a layer of absorbent material, the sheath having a generally rectangular front face and a substantially identical generally rectangular rear face, the sheath having an open bottom edge and an open side edge, the open bottom edge being adjacent to the open side edge, the sheath having a closed side edge and a closed top edge which connect the front face to the rear face, and the closed side edge being adjacent to the closed top edge. Preferably, the rear face has adhesive tape thereon for fastening the rear face to the front face to secure the sanitary device to the penis.

The pouch is a sheet of material that is folded unto itself to form a tube. The tube has an interior surface, an exterior surface with an anterior portion, and is vertically-oriented and open ended for receiving and holding the penis in an up position and a down position depending upon user preference. The interior surface of the tube is lined with an absorbent material, while the anterior portion of the exterior surface of the tube has hooks of hook and loop fasteners thereon that cooperate with the posterior surface of the anterior portion of the crotch band which is not only of a material that is absorbent but is also of one that is cooperative with hooks of hook and loop fasteners.

Abstract: The people and things in the vicinity of an undiapered baby are protected from being urinated upon by a device which has an open resilient foam band, which is “C” or horseshoe shaped. The band has a curved front segment with two rearwardly extending side segments which allow the band to be resiliently clasped about the midsection of an infant. A urine receiving pad is connected to the front segment of the band, and extends downwardly to space a quantity of absorbent material from the infant. The pad has an exterior fluid impervious barrier to which a cotton or synthetic absorbent material is attached. The lower comers of the pad are turned up to define an upwardly opening pocket which better retains liquid. The shield is readily affixed to the infant prior to removal of the diaper, and throughout the period during which urination of the undiapered infant is likely.

Abstract: A urine collection system for use by a person using a float tube comprises a flexible pouch housing a urine collection reservoir in fluid communication with the person. The pouch defines first and second openings, one for receiving a tube connected to the urine collection reservoir that is coupled to the user with a condom catheter and a second for receiving a drainage valve for conveniently emptying urine from the reservoir. A unidirectional valve is associated with the tube for preventing urine from exiting the reservoir while allowing urine to freely enter the reservoir. The pouch is preferably placed outside the float tube at or above the water level so that water pressure does not affect the operation of the urine collection system.

Abstract: A collection device for human bodily fluids includes an expandable, liquid permeable and insoluble pouch containing a proper volume of hydrophilic material. This hydrophilic material allows quick absorption of such fluids and turns into gelled material. The gelled material is then trapped inside the pouch preventing possible spill and back flow. The hydrophilic material with a proper volume only allows expansion up to the predetermined size of the pouch without the pouch breaking up into fragments. This pouch may be made of different shapes and materials in order to fit in different types of human bodily fluid collection devices and reduce possible leakage and back flow. The hydrophilic material can be a polymer and may have antibacterial properties to reduce bacteria growth. A one-way valve, snap-fit seal, or screw-on cap may be added for further enhanced prevention of leakage and back flow. The versatility of this pouch helps speeding up manufacturing processes and reducing overall production costs.

Abstract: After an operation, a drain tube or drain tubes may be placed in the patient's body. Sometimes the drain tube is sutured into the open end of the body and hangs from the body. After a mastectomy, the drain tube is often sutured into the body of the patient. The drain tube hangs downwardly and there is a collection bulb on the end of the drain tube to the discomfort of the patient. The applicant has devised a strap which fits around the abdomen and on the strap there is a pocket for receiving the drain tube and the collection bulb. The patient can walk and maneuver with less discomfort because the pocket and the strap are bearing some of the weight of the drain tube and collection bulb and provide proper drainage. Also, there is disclosed a receptacle for holding the collection bulb by itself. The patient may want to take a shower or dress or undress. The collection bulb can be placed in this second receptacle. This allows freedom of movement of the hands and of the patient.

The sheath has a proximal end and a distal end, an inner surface and an outer surface, where the inner surface contacts the skin of the penis in use. The sheath has a first side and a second side, and sheath member is sized to circumferentially envelop a penis of a user such that the inner surface of the second side overlaps the attachment portion and the attachment portion securing the second side to the first side such that the first and second sides overlyingly coextend substantially longitudinally down the penile shaft from the proximal end of the sheath to the distal end of the sheath.

Abstract: An external male catheter has a drain tube connection end for connection to a drain tube or collection tube that leads to a collection bag. The drain tube connection end is connected to a larger tubular portion, the other end of which is connected to a reduced diameter central portion. The central portion is tubular as well and has its other end connected to a cuff portion of a diameter generally the same as that of the larger tubular portion. An embodiment without the cuff is provided, as is an embodiment with the cuff on a tubular sheath of generally constant diameter. An applicator for the external male urinary catheter includes a pivotally connected handle for parting a pair of roll engaging arcs which open the catheter for putting on the wearer.

Abstract: A male incontinence device has rails formed on its waistband, through which the ends of the leg straps can be looped and secured in a desired position by clips. At their front ends the straps are attached to a ring which forms part of the bib of the waistband. A grommet push fitted into the ring from the inside has inner and outer flanges at its ends. The outer flange serves for attachment of a urine collection cone, whereas the inner flange provides for attachment of a seal member. The seal member has a U-section periphery for engaging it over the inner flange of the grommet, and provides a thin, apertured membrane capable of forming a comfortable seal with the penis of the user.

Abstract: A drainage catheter system including a catheter, a collection bag, and a collection bag saddle, is provided. The catheter includes a catheter body having an interior lumen, an elongate tubular sheath operatively associated with the catheter body, and a layer of lubricant disposed between the catheter body and the tubular sheath. The sheath is inflatable after deployment to provide sealing engagement with an inner wall of the urethra. One end of the catheter body is adapted to be connected to the collection bag which includes a fluid entry portion having a one-way fluid valve, a gas separation chamber, and a one-way gas valve. The collection bag also includes a main liquid reservoir in fluid communication with the fluid entry portion and a sealed drainage member for permitting drainage of the main liquid reservoir.

Abstract: A garment (1) is disclosed for fixing a urine bag (2) on the leg (3) of a user. The garment includes a tubular part (6) having elastic bands (9, 10) at its ends, said bands fitting tightly around the leg (3) of the user. The tubular part is provided with an integrally formed pocket (11), the tubular part being formed by a dual layer knitted structure except in the area of the pocket (11). At the pocket bottom (13) there is an opening (14) for the discharge pipe (15) of the urine bag. The garment (1) is manufactured easily in endless webs, which are separated, and subsequently the two end edges (31, 32) are knitted together (33) in order to form the tubular shape. The garment provides safe fixing of the urine bag (2) as the latter will be supported inside the pocket (11) and be held against the leg of the user due to the elastic bands (9, 10), which are dimensioned so as to be able to carry a full urine bag.

Abstract: An external incontinence device which reduces or eliminates maceration, skin irritation, microbial skin infiltration and infection, and urinary tract infection associated with conventional urinary catheters and incontinence devices is provided. Devices of the invention comprise, in a plurality of configurations, a housing having an outlet conduit, and several alternative means for attaching the housing to a para-meatal genital surface, including a barrier disc comprising various adhesive and medically active substances which form an occlusive adhesive seal with the para-meatal surface. Adhesive leaves made of fluid-absorptive or fluid-permeable materials are provided to adhere the device to skin while permitting removal of moisture from the underlying skin surface, thus eliminating maceration. Vapor permeable adhesives on the interior surface of the attachment elements, and a microbial-barrier layer provided on inner surfaces of the several configurations of housings are also provided.

Abstract: A support strap whose lower end is sewn to a hook-and-loop band which encircles the sheath portion of a urine-collecting catheter and the user's penis. Its upper end has male part snaps sewn to it, which cooperate with female part snaps on the undergarment's waistband. The strap and band prevent the external urinary catheter from slipping off of the penis. The band has multiple indicating marks on the loop side and one mark on the hook side, for accurate repositioning of the band each time it is reapplied. A second embodiment has a front section of a garment onto which is sewn a grooved retainer ring, which encircles the penis. An applicator ring is used to spread the rim of the condom catheter to facilitate fitting the condom onto the penis and for fitting the rim into the groove of the grooved retaining ring.

Abstract: A urine collection and drainage device comprising a chamber that contains a baffle. The device minimizes noises generated from sloshing urine in the chamber. Furthermore, when secured in a horizontal orientation relative to an individual's leg, the device is completely concealed from view by others while worn under shorts, short skirts or swimming trunks. Thus, the device collects urine such that it baffles any sloshing noises that emanate from the chamber and is completely concealed from view when worn under summer or sport apparel.

Abstract: An incontinence diaper system for providing an incontinence diaper with a drainage system to reduce urine excrement retention with the incontinence diaper. The incontinence diaper system includes a diaper having a drain aperture, an interior liner juxtaposed to the diaper having a funnel aperture into one side, a drain funnel secured within the funnel aperture to collect the urine absorbed by the interior liner, a tubing coupled to the drain funnel opposite of the funnel aperture, and a reservoir coupled to the tubing opposite of the drain funnel to store the collected urine which flows through the tubing. For males, an elongated tapering tube having a bulbous enlarged end for coupling to the penis.

Abstract: A float tube urinal of the present invention includes a urine inflow mechanism which is typically formed by a condom catheter formed of a condom (or other urinal) with an elongate tube extending therefrom. The condom catheter is connected to a housing with substantially rigid side walls, or sidewalls which, though flexible, are held apart by substantially rigid support structures, to prevent a compressive force from compacting a containment volume defined by the housing. A vent tube is attached to the housing to vent air in the housing as urine is received from the condom catheter.

Abstract: A woman's panty-type undergarment provides a means of attaching a releasable, securable, and disposable female condom that can be comfortably worn for hours before anticipated intercourse, thereby providing a barrier to the entrance of male sperm and bodily fluids which may cause pregnancy or spreading of diseases such as AIDS. A resilient ovoid condom attachment member is sewn or otherwise attached to an opening in the crotch portion of the panty. The female condom is inserted into the wearer's vaginal opening and then the outer ring of the female condom is threaded through a slit aperture in the ovoid member and stretched over a circumferential head flange, whereby it is secured around a narrow annular neck that is disposed between a base plate of the attachment member and the head flange.

Abstract: A urine collection device, including a biodegradable bag for storage of the urine therein and a biodegradable engagement member for engaging the genitals of the user, the biodegradable bag having within the bag a means to disperse the urine received from the biodegradable engagement member into the interior of the bag.

Abstract: A urinal device is disclosed for the reception therein of a user's penis. The device includes a support worn by the user for supporting the device relative to the user. A collar is secured to the support for the reception therein of the user's penis. The arrangement is such that in use of the device, the user's penis is inserted through the collar. The collar has a first and a second end. A flexible tubular portion is provided for sealing the device relative to the user's penis, the tubular portion having a first and second extremity. The first extremity engages the first end of the collar and the second extremity sealingly cooperates with the user's penis. A collection device sealingly cooperates with the second end of the collar, the arrangement being such that in use of the device, the user's penis is sealingly supported by the tubular portion so that the user's penis is disposed within the collar.

Abstract: A holder for a urinary drainage bag for securing the bag to a patient's leg. The weight of the urinary drainage bag is supported by a waistband which encircles the patient's waist. The urinary drainage bag is affixed to a partial pantleg which is suspended from the waistband. The partial pantleg is split and adjustably encircles the patient's thigh. The partial pantleg is comprised of a twilled fabric and prevents a typically plastic or vinyl urinary drainage bag from making contact with the patient's thigh. The urinary drainage bag is affixed to the partial pantleg by means of a plurality of buttons provided on the partial pantleg. The buttons are arranged so that as the urinary drainage bag expands the buttonholes formed integrally with the urinary drainage bag will slide with respect to the buttons and not pull or tug on the partial pantleg. The partial pantleg need not be tightly secured to the wearer's thigh in order to be effective.

Abstract: A one-piece male incontinence device comprises a condom (30) having a first sheath section (32) and a second urine collecting compartment (42) divided by a skin shield (36) which incorporates a soft thread-reinforced non-return, non-invertible valve (38). Collecting compartment has a twist-around drain valve (52) or alternatively a ball-obturator drain valve (93). First sheath section (32) has friction-increasing internal surface in the form of finely spaced-apart ribs (54). Alternatively skin shield 36 can incorporate two non-return, non-inverting reinforced valves (86 and 88) placed to eliminate urine pooling (90). Alternative design catheter (79) comprises one-piece first sheath section and second urine collecting compartment divided by an insert (36) incorporating non-return valve or valves and skin shield which is placed and imperviously sealed therein. A garment (94) is provided for spinal injured patients for attaching thereto a condom catheter.

The first extremity engages the first end of the collar and the second extremity sealingly cooperates with the user's penis. A collection device sealingly cooperates with the second end of the collar, the arrangement being such that in use of the device, the user's penis is sealingly supported by the tubular portion so that the user's penis is disposed within the collar.

Abstract: A urine collecting assembly installable on an incontinent male, the assembly including a normally-flat urostomy pouch having a lateral inlet adjacent its upper end bordered by a circular belt-adapter flange, whereby the pouch may be strapped onto the hips or waist of an incontinent male whose penis then projects toward the inlet. Abstract: A waterproof non-spill bag particularly for male incontinents, includes a valve which comprises a gusset (2) sealed to the side edges of the bag. In the base of the gusset small holes (7) allow liquid from the gusset to pass into the body of the bag (21) but effectively prevent it escaping if the bag is inverted. A narrow web (8) coated with self-adhesive (9) and protected by a release coated web (10), is sealed to both side edges of the bag. When the web (8) is released along a line of perforations (13), it can be wrapped around the top of the bag folded to the penis, to close it and hold it to the penis. Holes (16) surrounded by seals (17) provide for suspension and support.

Abstract: A new and improved external male catheter includes a waistband and a sheath support member attached to the waistband. A sheath member is attached to the sheath support member. The sheath support member includes a first aperture through which a penis is inserted into the sheath member. The sheath support member also includes a first attachment assembly positioned circumferentially around the aperture. A removable and replaceable sheath assembly includes a second attachment assembly which is complementary to the first attachment assembly and is attachable thereto. The sheath member includes a extension portion, located at one end of the sheath member. The extension portion includes a second aperture for draining urine from the sheath assembly. Straps, connected between the waistband and the sheath support member, stabilize the sheath support member with respect to the waistband. The waistband, the sheath support member, and the straps are sewn together to form a unified structure.
