  • Patent number: 6056732
Abstract: A well-fitting disposable diaper having a front gathering to be applied to the crotch of a wearer. The front gathering is formed by elastic members disposed about a border between a crotch region and a front waist region of the diaper and includes one end portions of first and second thin parts which are disposed in the crotch region and the front waist region, respectively. Because the first thin parts are elongated between the second thin parts in the front gathering, the front gathering can readily shrink to press the crotch of a wearer or a protector against incontinence to be applied thereto.

  • Patent number: 6051094
Abstract: A closure system and method of making a closure system for a disposable article. A substantially continuous closure system web is provided. One face of the web is provided with first fastening region at terminal end portion(s) of the web. A second fastening region, engagable with the first fastening region, is provided on a second face of the web in a region adjacent the terminal end portion(s). The closure system tab elements are cut from the web and attached to a second web, used in producing the disposable article, at longitudinally spaced locations. This second web is then cut at transverse cut lines separating the closure system tab element into two functional elements. A first functional element has a fastening tab portion and the second functional element has an attachment portion. The attachment portion of one closure system tab element interacts with a fastening tab portion of an adjacent closure system tab element to form a functional closure system on a disposable article made using the second web.

  • Patent number: 6039717
Abstract: The invention relates to a fastening device (1) for releaseable fastening onto textile or textile-like material surfaces, comprising a self-adhesive, pressure sensitive layer (2) with a first surface intended to be firmly fixed against a substrate, as well as a second surface intended to serve as a fastening surface onto the textile or textile-like material surface. What primarily distinguishes the invention is that an essentially incompressible, non-adhesive covering layer (3), with a thickness which does not exceed 0.5 mm and which has a plurality of penetrating openings or pores (4) arranged essentially perpendicularly to the plane of the covering layer (3), is arranged on and fastened to the fastening surface of the adhesive layer (2), wherein the relative distance between two adjacent openings or pores (4) in the covering layer (3) does not exceed 3 mm, whereby the fastening means is suitable for co-operating with a textile or textile-like receiving surface (5).

  • Patent number: 6030373
Abstract: A distinctive fastening tab comprises a fastener substrate having a construction-bond portion, a user-bond portion, a fastening surface and a user surface. The user-bond portion includes a leading region and at least one trailing region thereof, and the leading region is separated from the trailing region by a substantially non-securing spacing section which can extend over a selected, lateral spacing distance, such as a distance of at least about 5 mm. A securing mechanism connects to the fastening surface of the substrate along the leading and trailing regions of the user-bond portion, thereby providing a securing mechanism leading region and a securing mechanism trailing region which are separated apart by the spacing distance.

The positioning adhesive has non-tacky irregularly shaped particles on its surface thereby rendering the adhesive non-tacky. Upon the application of pressure during use, i.e., when attaching the napkin to the undergarment, the particles are rearranged, exposing adhesive to the undergarment, thereby facilitating attachment of the napkin to the undergarment.
