Abstract: An absorbent article and method are disclosed for providing side leakage protection for an undergarment and absorbent article positioning guidance for proper placement on the undergarment. In one embodiment, an absorbent cuff pad is configured to fit the pudendal region of a woman with cuffs for receiving a crotch portion of an undergarment. In one embodiment, an absorbent pad and liquid-impermeable baffle are provided with stiffening means for a pair of garment-attachment nesting ridges for receiving an arcuately shaped crotch portion of an undergarment. In one embodiment, an absorbent configured to fit the pudendal region of a woman, a liquid-impermeable baffle, and stiffening means for multiple pairs of garment-attachment nesting ridges receive and protect an arcuately shaped crotch portion of an undergarment. Arcuately shaped pleats on a bottom lateral side surface of the absorbent article form the nesting ridges.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent article includes an absorbent chassis and a fastening system that together define a refastenable pant. The refastenable pant includes a pair of elastomeric front side panels extending from the waist opening to each leg opening, a pair of elastomeric back side panels extending from the waist opening to each leg opening, and a pair of refastenable seams extending from the waist opening to each leg opening and positioned between the elastomeric front and back side panels.

Abstract: An absorbent article, such as a diaper, a pants-type diaper, an incontinence protector or a pants-like sanitary napkin, having a front part, a rear part and an intermediate central part. The article includes an absorbent body enclosed between an inner, liquid-permeable sheet and a liquid-impermeable outer sheet, and fastener devices for releasably connecting side-portions of the front and rear parts. The fastener devices are made of a renewable material. The fastener devices are welded to at least one of the sheets of the article and the fastener devices and the sheets are made of a material having a glass transition temperature which lies between 50-60° C. and a melting point which lies between 140-180° C., preferably between 150-175° C.

Abstract: A wetness indicating hot melt adhesive composition comprising a pH adjusting component and an indicating agent which is capable of changing color in response to changes in pH. The adhesive composition may comprise 20 to 80% by weight of a sulfonated polyester, 3 to 30% by weight of an acidic plasticizer and 0.05 to 3% by weight of an indicator.

Abstract: An absorbent product has a first end portion with two side flaps extending laterally outwardly on either side of a waist section. Each of the side flaps includes an upper edge and a lower edge. Each of the side flaps further has an elastic section which is distinct from elastic in the waist section. The elastic section extends longitudinally over a portion of the lateral extent of the side flap, over only part of the distance between the flap upper edge and lower edge. A non-elastic section extends between a lower end of the elastic section and the flap lower edge. In this way, elastic material can be saved while maintaining the requisite properties of the side flaps.

Abstract: A stretchable tape includes a nonextensible layer having a separation line, a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, an extensible layer and an adhesive inhibiting masking between adjacent portions of the extensible layer and adhesive layer to enable relative movement and tape stretchability. The tape is especially useful in the manufacture of diaper tabs. The tape stock and diaper tabs may be manufactured using conventional web processing equipment.

Abstract: An absorbent article includes attachment panels extending transversely outward from the absorbent assembly in one waist region and mechanical fastening components in an opposite waist region. The attachment panels cover the side hips of the wearer and define inner attachment surfaces that are adapted to refastenably engage the fastening components to maintain the absorbent article in a pant configuration.

The nonwoven connectors are folded n times, wherein n is an even integer of 2 to 10, and are secured by a securement means such as a glue or hot melt adhesive.

Each ear topsheet and backsheet has perforations. The tearable portion is adjacent to the central portion. Each ear may be pulled away from the chassis causing the ear topsheet and backsheet to tear at the perforations thereby exposing the elastic layer.

The shield has a flexible chassis and a pair of side-by-side adhesive stripes on it to releasably mount it within the undergarment. The adhesive stripes are initially covered by a removable release strip until the shield is ready for use. The chassis includes a front portion arranged to be located over the penis and contiguous lower abdominal region and a crotch portion arranged to be located in the crotch and between the legs. The chassis is made up of an outer cover, an inner liner and a liquid absorbent core interposed therebetween. The chassis is a very thin planar flexible structure having a modified T-shaped periphery including an upper transverse portion forming the upper portion of the chassis and a downwardly extending longitudinal portion forming the crotch portion of the chassis.

Abstract: The present invention relates to thermoplastic hydrophilic polymeric compositions for making a liquid impermeable moisture vapour permeable structure, for example by forming the composition into a layer or film. The thermoplastic compositions comprise preferred thermoplastic polymers and suitable compatible plasticisers which allow a controlled extraction/release by water or aqueous fluids. The layers made from the thermoplastic hydrophilic polymeric compositions of the present invention can find a variety of applications wherein liquid imperviousness and moisture vapour permeability are desirable.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to an elastomeric side panel that is suitable for use in or on a disposable absorbent article. The elastomeric side panel is formed from an elastomeric material that has multidirectional stretch features enabling it to stretch in the longitudinal and lateral directions. The side panel has a first waist edge and a crotch edge that are substantially parallel to one another while in the relaxed condition. A fastening device is associated with the elastomeric side panel. Abstract: A disposable absorbent brief is provided with a reinforced fastening tape landing zone which permits repeated removal and reattachment of the fastening tape for adjustment of fit. The backing sheet of the brief is a relatively thin and inexpensive sheet material which has at least one relatively thin and inexpensive, adhesively-secured strip of landing zone reinforcement sheet material. The reinforcement strip provides the strength required to allow tape removal and reattachment without causing tearing of the reinforcement strip or backing sheet or separation of the reinforcement sheet from the backing sheet. The adhesive layer is applied to the reinforcement sheet stock by slot coating as a continuous and uninterrupted layer on the reinforcement strip in a cost-effective and efficient process.

The article generally comprises a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. The fastening elements attach to one or more target devices that are located in the second waist region to form a pant-like garment on a wearer. A pair of grips are attached to opposite lateral sides of the first waist region. Each grip is attached in an attachment area located inboard of at least one of the respective fastening elements.

The apparatus includes a re-openable, flexible enclosure adapted to receive a source of heat or cold, and an adhesive for mounting the pliable contact bandage on a skin surface. The source of heat or cold is temporarily placed within the flexible enclosure and the pliable contact bandage is placed over the wound site in a heat conducting relationship. Typically, a hypo-allergenic adhesive is located along at least a portion of the periphery of the flexible enclosure. The periphery of the flexible enclosure surrounds the wound site.

The intermediate section is formed of a fluid pervious cover-stock, a fluid impervious barrier layer, and an absorbent core interposed therebetween. The intermediate section is of generally rectangular shape having a pair of elasticized sides and an pair of end portion one of which is adhesively secured to the middle of the front section, while the other end portion is similarly secured to the middle of the rear section. The front and rear sections are arranged to be releasably secured to each other by fastening tapes to mount the diaper.

Abstract: A pressure-sensitive adhesive tape comprising a substrate having thereon at least two different kinds of pressure-sensitive adhesive layers, wherein one pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (A) is constituted by a pressure-sensitive adhesive having a modulus at 50% elongation of 68,650 to 117,680 Pa and a modulus at 200% elongation of 147,100 to 245,170 Pa and another pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (B) is constituted by a pressure-sensitive adhesive having a modulus at 50% elongation of 19,610 to 68,650 Pa and a modulus at 200% elongation of 68,650 to 147,100 Pa. The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has strong adhesion and suitable releasable properties. Use of such a tape in disposable diapers suppresses generation of discordant peeling sounds.

Abstract: A pant-like absorbent garment adapted to easy application and removal has refastenable side seams. The refastenable side seams extend from a waist opening to each of two leg openings between a front panel and a back panel. Each of the refastenable side seams includes a fastening component and a mating fastening component, each of which comprises either a hook material or a loop material. A portion of the mating fastening component can be die-cut in a sinusoidal or other nesting shape. The resulting refastenable seams can be lap seams, dual fastened lap seams, standing butt seams, or dual fastened standing butt seams.
