Having Butt-engaging Members Limited To Other Than Rotary Motion About The Periphery And Longitudinal Axis Of The Needle Cylinder Patents (Class 66/230)
Abstract: A circular knitting machine having knitting needles actuated by pattern bars, electromagnetic selectors for adjusting the knitting needles into various operating positions, mechanical controls cooperating with the electromagnetic selectors, selector elements biased by springs and slidingly displaceable in the pattern bars as well as first and second control cams for pivoting the pattern bars. Only one single, spring-biased selector element is mounted for displacement in each pattern bar. The electromagnetic selectors have individually controllable magnetic poles which are arranged one behind the other in the direction of rotation of the needle cylinder.
Abstract: A triple needle height selective means for knitting machines. For each needle, there is provided two columns of perforations in a pattern strip and two selector levers receiving the dictates from the columns of perforations. A racket is associated with an individual needle having two heads and a single effective tail, the heads being positioned at two distinctive heights. Depending upon which selector lever is activated, motion is transmitted through the racket to elevate the needle to a corresponding height.
Abstract: Mechanism for selecting and controlling needles of circular knitting machine wherein, at each feed of the knitting machine, there is provided a cam path in which is engageable an outwardly projecting butt on an axially reciprocable needle to reciprocate the needle. An activating swing jack is pivoted to the bottom of the needles and a selector jack is pivoted to the unit and is operatively associated with the activating swing jack. A selector butt and a complementary eraser butt on the selector jack are respectively positively engaged by a selector lever and an eraser lever, the selector lever moving the jacks and hence the needles whereby the needle butts engage in the cam path while the eraser lever move the jacks and hence the needles, whereby the needle butts are disengaged from the cam path, respectively to bring the needle into its operative and inoperative condition. The selector and eraser levers cooperate with the selector and eraser butts of the selector jack over the entire length of the feed.
