  • Patent number: 7696858
Abstract: A door lock interface system includes a stationary controller that is mounted to a support surface at an interior of a building. A portable controller is in wireless communication with the stationary controller. An elongated and rectilinear bolt is positioned through a slot of a door and is spaced from the stationary and portable controllers. A mechanism is included for automatically retracting and extending the bolt along a parallel and horizontal path. A mechanism is included for bypassing the automatic retracting and extending mechanism such that the user can manually retract and extend the bolt. A security panel is affixed to one side of the door and covers one door cavity, prohibiting unauthorized access thereto. The security panel is provided with annular openings, allowing a door handle and a deadbolt housing to be connected to the door while maintaining the automatic extending and retracting mechanism hidden from the environment.

  • Patent number: 7441427
Abstract: A latch has a bushing which has at least one bushing projection or means for preventing insertion of an unauthorized tool to rotate a latch actuator of the latch. Only a key having an outer key recess which can mate with bushing projection on the bushing permits insertion of the key. The cap subassembly of the latch is provided with projections which are of a size and so positioned as to correspond with the internal recesses of the key so as to allow the cap subassembly to enter into the bore of the key and permit a mating engagement of internal recesses on the key and projections on the cap subassembly. Because cap portion rotates freely on top of the cap subassembly which is the part of the cap driven by the key, the arrangement makes it impossible, or at least very difficult, to rotate the shaft and in turn the pawl by means of a tool which rotates the cap portion.

  • Patent number: 6843082
Abstract: A key operated latch includes a housing which supports a lock plug, a motion control sleeve, and a sleeve-like cam therein. The cam rotates with the lock plug, while the motion control sleeve is stationary. The cam has at least one cam slot, and the motion control sleeve has at least one motion control slot. A shaft extends outward from the housing and has at least one projection which is engaged with both the cam slot and the motion control slot. The cam slot and the motion control slot are configured such that rotation of the lock plug imparts a sequence of rotational and axial movements to the shaft. A latching member attached to the shaft, moves between a latched position and an unlatched position in a sequence of axial and rotational motions in order to selectively secure a door, panel, or the like in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6539674
Abstract: A tabletop high relocateable shelter for protecting individuals from dangerous conditions such as hurricanes, tornadoes and the like, that can withstand winds of approximately 450 mph. The shelter can be attached and detached from a concrete foundation. A rectangular frame that is formed from L-shaped longitudinal members are fastened together and can be anchored to the concrete foundation by hook ended anchor bolts that have exposed threaded ends that nuts can attach thereto, or by concrete type bolts made for that purpose. Removable panels can be attached to the outside of the frame to form walls and a roof using fasteners such as screws and bolts. A door can be attached to an opening in the side of the frame, and include L-shaped members that form door braces and hinge guards that allow the door to stay in a stationary closed position. Slideable latching members can further hold the door in a locked position.

  • Patent number: 5386713
Abstract: A remote control car deadbolt lock includes a lock housing (14) mountable between a car door and car door facing which includes a locking mechanism (24). Receiver assembly (12) mounts within the car door or door facing opposite the lock housing. Locking mechanism (24) includes deadbolt (26) which mounts to reciprocate between a locked position (34) and unlocked position (106). Locking mechanism (24) also includes solenoid (60) and spring actuator comprising spring (44), cam (46) and select mechanism (52). Solenoid (60) causes deadbolt (26) to reciprocate in response to an electrical signal. Spring actuator (25) controls the locked and unlocked position of deadbolt (26). Receiver assembly (12) receives deadbolt (26) when deadbolt (26) is in locked position (34), thereby causing deadbolt (26) to lock car door to car door facing. A remote actuator, in the preferred embodiment, includes a transmitter (108) and receiver (112) for remote control of locking mechanism (24).

  • Patent number: 4234220
Abstract: Tamper-free exterior lock apparatus to affix to a door for maintaining latched engagement to the door's frame. Two sets of shackles, one pair fixed to a backing plate and the other insertable with respect to a lock housing, engage, respectively, a primary lock and a secondary lock so that no portion of the shackle is exposed when coupled with its lock. Primary lock guards protrude from the lock housing to restrict access to the primary lock. A slide bar having a latching portion at one end and a lip portion oriented perpendicular to the main portion of the slide bar at the other end is maintained in slidable relationship to the backing plate and housing to allow the movement of the lock apparatus from its latching position to its open position and to block the slide bar from movement when either or both of said locks is engaged to its set of shackles.

  • Patent number: 4068505
Abstract: A locking device includes a base having openings therein for joining the base to a first surface, such as the surface of the door, and a cover hinged to the base plate by a solid bar passing through apertures in flanges near the upper end of the base plate and cover. This solid bar is sufficiently long to engage an opening in a second surface, such as a door jamb. Joined to and extending laterally from the solid bar is a second bar that lies between the flanges of the cover plate, thus confining the second bar to the space between them, and preventing removal of the solid bar from the device. Projecting from the inner surface of the plate and from the inner surface of the cover are lock-receiving flanges having apertures which lie proximate one another when the cover plate is closed against the base. The apertures in these lock-receiving flanges lie at least partly in the same plane, permitting the hasp of a padlock to pass through both, thus locking the cover to the base plate.

  • Patent number: 3953062
Abstract: A clasp having a rigid backplate with one side projecting outwardly to enclose the latching side of a locking padlock. The other side of the backplate is similarily outwardly turned, and a bolt is slidably and pivotally positioned in aligned holes in the outwardly turned sides. A front plate is welded to the bolt and a bale support member is welded orthogonally to the inside face of the front plate. A matching bale support member is welded to the back plate and when the clasp is closed, the two bale support members are aligned. The bale of the padlock is received in holes in the bale support members. In the locked position, the front plate and the proximate side of the back plate prevents the application of a downward blow on the side of the padlock that includes the latch mechanism. The clearance between the front plate and the proximate side is insufficient for the insertion of a punch or other object for striking a blow against the locking side of the padlock.
