  • Patent number: 9987753
Abstract: Example implementations may relate to a controller system having a moveable member. In particular, the controller system may include a rotatable knob having a curved surface, at least one motor that is operable to apply torque to the rotatable knob, a curved touchpad arranged to sense touch gestures on the curved surface, and a moveable member that is mechanically adjustable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the moveable member is coupled to the rotatable knob and extends radially from the curved surface along a radial axis, such that application of a force perpendicular to the radial axis to the moveable member causes rotation of the rotatable knob. While in the second position, the moveable member provides accessibility to the curved surface of the rotatable knob.

  • Patent number: 8857230
Abstract: A lock for a retractable cover which overlies a bed of a pickup truck has a cover-connectable housing and a handle that pivots relative to the housing for clamping a pointed tip of a flexibly mounted fastener into engagement with a nearby member such as a guide rail extending along one side of the bed of a pickup truck to retain a housing-connected retractable cover in a chosen position. A push button trigger pivoted on the handle is depressable to unlatch the handle and thereby release the clamping action of the handle. A torsion spring biases the trigger relative to the handle. A compression spring biases the handle relative to the housing. A leaf spring flexibly mounts the fastener on the handle. A key-operated plug assembly may retain the trigger in a latched position.

A handle (24) is pivotably mounted to the cover (20) and operably connected to the sliding member (34) such that rotation of the handle (24) causes sliding of the sliding member (34) to move the latch between an extended position and a retracted position. A limiting member (32) is pivotably received in the cover (20) between a blocking position not allowing movement of the sliding member (34) and a release position allowing movement of the sliding member (34). An inner lock core (54) and an outer lock core (270) are respectively mounted to an inner side (10a) and the outer side (10b) of the door (10). Either of the inner and outer lock cores (54, 270) can be rotated by a key to move the limiting member (32) between the blocking position and the release position.

Abstract: A dead bolt lock system having one or more security locks in conjunction with a dead bolt to provide various levels of security access to a door. An inertia assembly restrains movement of the dead bolt when a shock load is applied to the door, but allows the dead bolt to move when a shock load is not present. The inertia assembly includes an actuator weight and a bolt lock lever that can translate and rotate in response to the application of the shock load. In addition, the inertia assembly includes a return spring that biases the inertia assembly back into its original position for facilitating movement of the dead bolt after the application of the shock load.

Abstract: A system for releasably maintaining a movable closure element in a predetermined position relative to a support therefor. The latch assembly is changed from a latched state into an unlatched state as an incident of the first actuator assembly being changed from a normal state into a release state. The first actuator assembly has a first handle that is repositionable relative to a base assembly between first and second positions. The first actuator assembly is in the normal state with the first handle in the first position and the release state with the first handle in the second position. The lock assembly cooperates with the first actuating assembly and in a locked state prevents the first handle from being changed from the first position into the second position. The lock assembly has a motor that is actuatable to change the lock assembly between the locked and unlocked states.

Abstract: Disclosed is a lock assembly such as for use with enclosures and access panels. The lock assembly includes a keyhole shaped aperture in a slide portion of the locking assembly that cooperates with double-D shaped protrusions associated with a locking plug. In a locked position, the double-D shaped protrusions inhibit movement of the slide portion. In an unlocked position, the double-D shaped elements may enter a more narrow portion of the keyhole shaped aperture and permit movement of the slide. The slide is associated with additional features so that movement of the slide selectively inhibits or provides consequential movement of other elements that in turn respectively deny or create access to an enclosure.

Rotation of the shaft by turning an exterior handle unlatches the truck bed closure. The interior end of the tumbler mounts a locking dog. Pivoting of the lock tumbler rotates the locking dog to shift the slider between the locked and unlocked positions. A lock disk fixed to the shaft engages the slider in the locked position, preventing unlatching. An electric actuator can be connected to the slider, enabling shifting of the slider from a wired or wireless remote switch.
