    Abstract: A lock for mounting on a window jamb for selectively grasping a keeper on a window sash to secure the sash closed against the jamb, including a base for mounting to the jamb and defining an open interior space along one side of the base, a rigid plate secured to the base adjacent the open interior space and including a guide slot therein, and a motor driven drive gear pivotable within the open interior space about a first axis. A pawl is secured to the drive gear at one end for pivoting about a second axis spaced from and substantially parallel to the first axis, and includes a keeper grasping portion at its other end. A guide pin projects from the pawl and is slidably received in the guide slot whereby rotation of the drive gear moves the keeper grasping portion of the pawl between the open position and the locking position.

    Abstract: A pivoting handle type winder or door latch actuating handle (1, 2) and a pivoting stay type of window retaining latch (19, 20) for mounting on a movable frame of an openable door or window, and which is co-operable with a corresponding keeper on or in a surrounding fixed frame in order to latch the movable frame to the fixed frame. The latch comprises a latching element (23) which is movable into latching engagement with the keeper when the movable frame is in a closed position with respect to the surrounding fixed frame, and a locking mechanism is provided to lock the engagement of the latching element with the keeper. An elongate arm (1, 2; 19, 20) is coupled with the latching element, and at least two combinations wheels (9) are mounted on the elongate arm and arranged to control the operation of the locking mechanism so that the latch element can only be released from locking engagement with the keeper when a respective predetermined correct combination is set on each of the combination wheels.

    Abstract: A lock for a window on a topper cap found on pickup trucks and the like. The lock comprises an inner housing having a rotating geared pinion engaging two racks. The racks are attached to deadbolts that can extend and engage the frame tubing on opposite sides of the pinion gear. An outer housing surrounds the inner housing and the deadbolts. A handle shaft is disposed through the outer and inner housings to attach to the pinion gear. Turning the handle turns retracts or extends the deadbolts. The whole assembly can be easily installed by attaching the outer housing to the window inside surface. The housings make it difficult for intruders to open the window by tampering with the mechanical components.

    Abstract: Very simple, inexpensive keyless window sash combination code lock has a pivotable cover plate for preventing an intruder from unscrewing the conventional screws for mounting the lock to the sashes. Three combination code dials are slip coupled to associated rotatable pins which pass through the cover plate and an apertured anchor plate. The pins have lugs positioned under the anchor plate to prevent the lock from being opened. When the lugs are positioned within the anchor plate upon installation, the user rotates the dials to create his own custom combination code. The cover plate is then lowered, the dials are rotated and the lock is locked. The code dials are press fitted about the cylindrical locking pins to save manufacturing costs, and the manual sensing of the correct positioning of the code dials by an intruder, to open the lock, is prevented by providing radial dummy recesses in the lower surface of the anchor plate about each locking pin.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle theft deterring device designed to prevent access to the levers which control the operating of the door lock in a vehicle door. A cover strip of rigid material of predetermined length and width to substantially cover the space between the vehicle window glass and the outside panel of the vehicle door is formed with a downwardly extending support strip and a mounting plate at a right angle to one edge of the cover strip, the plate being attached to the sash of the automobile window to prevent the insertion of a rod or similar device to release the lock actuating levers in the vehicle door. In a modified form of the invention, an electrical switch is positioned in the mounting plate and is electrically connected to the horn relay to cause the horn to blow continuously in the lock cover is tampered with and the horn circuit is grounded by movement of the switch.

    Abstract: A door or window lock has a body which is securable to the door, window, or a surround for a door or window, and has at least two passages therethrough that extend angularly relative to one another. A locking bar is slidable axially in any one of the passages to adopt either an operative position or an inoperative position, and in the operative position a locking end portion of the bar protrudes a predetermined distance beyond an adjacent side of the body. The bar can adopt either of two operative positions for each passage and in each of those positions the locking end portion protrudes beyond a respective one of two opposite sides of the body. A key operated locking member is rotatably mounted on the body and can adopt a particular locking position for each of the passages. In the locking position for one passage, the locking member protrudes into a recess of the bar to hold the bar against movement in either direction from its operative position.

    Abstract: A tumbler lock securing device that can be applied to the double casement windows and doors without altering of the casement structure but can be simply detachably placed over opposing window or door handles in their depending latched positions and locking ratchet arms squeezed through a tumbler lock and pawl mechanism. Pawl levers are upwardly spring pressed toward ratchet teeth on the bottom edges of the locking arms that respectively extend in opposite directions and are released only with a key that turns the tumbler lock centerpiece and a depressible cam fixed thereto that acts upon one of two pawl levers but through an interlock arrangement between one of the pawls and the other so that upward spring action for the both pawls is served by but one compression spring. The lock and pawl mechanism can be separated from the locking arms or can be left locked to one of the casement handles when unlatched.
