  • Patent number: 8781787
Abstract: A substrate carrying mechanism includes: a base; a substrate holding member placed on the base and capable of holding a substrate and of being advanced and retracted relative to the base; four or more detecting units respectively for detecting different parts of the edge of a substrate held by the substrate holding member when the substrate holding member holding a substrate is retracted; and a controller that determines whether or not a notch formed in the edge of the substrate has been detected by one of the detecting units, on the basis of measurements measured by the four or more detecting units and corrects an error in a transfer position where the substrate is to be transferred to the succeeding processing unit on the basis of measurements measured by the detecting units excluding the one detecting unit that has detected the notch of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 8774961
Abstract: An automatic delivery system includes a conveyor including powered first rollers arranged in parallel with each other defining a spacing between sequential ones of the first rollers. Fixed second rollers or fixed members are each connected to and coaxially aligned with individual ones of the first rollers and sequentially separated by the first roller spacing. The second rollers are divisible into at least two groups, each defining a loading station. Each of the loading stations has a station positioning device including at least one extension rod extending through and horizontally displaceable within the spacing between sequential ones of the first and second rollers. The station positioning device displaces a container received on the powered first rollers into and out of the loading station. A computer controlling the system and the station positioning device includes data for components inserted into the container at the loading station of each group.

  • Patent number: 8761922
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring food consumption by an individual from a food compartment wherein the food compartment may contain or hold solids or liquids. For example, the method includes a sensor to determine the quantity of the solid or liquids located in the food compartment or container. The method contemplates having multiple containers or food compartments wherein a container holds liquids and a food compartment holds solids or semi-solids. By determining the quantity of the food in the food compartment prior to and after the individual has ceased consuming food from the food compartment the amount or quantity of the food can be determined. Knowing the amount or quantity of the food removed from the container the nutritional value of the food may be determined. In addition, a sensor may also monitor the individual removing the food from the food compartment that is monitoring the individual while eating or drinking.

Abstract: A system for managing the entry of a wafer carrier into a stocker in a semiconductor manufacturing operation is disclosed. The system comprises a stocker that accepts wafer carriers via one or more input ports. The present invention provides a means for detecting the presence of a wafer carrier at the input port, means for identifying the type of the wafer carrier, and means for executing an action sequence if the stocker is not compatible with those wafer carriers. Upon detecting an erroneous condition, an action sequence is executed which may include prevention entry of the wafer carrier, and notifying an operator.

  • Patent number: 8755931
Abstract: A work station for manually picking of piece goods, including a window conveyor which includes a plurality of optically distinguishable window locations. Each window location includes a defined region of the conveyor which is suitable for receiving a piece good. The conveyor extends through a picking zone and a provision region where different types of piece goods are provided at access locations. At the provision region the order-picking person can grasp piece goods manually from each of the access locations and put same on the conveyor. An order-picking control controls warehouse management and order processing in order to transmit information concerning one of the access locations and a removal quantity to the order-picking person in accordance with an order line of the picking order. A device is provided for allocating an unoccupied window location to one of the order lines based on selection and entry of the order-picking person.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a method, apparatus, and computer program product for optimizing article or bin location in an automated storage device to increase the efficiency of article retrieval in filling an order. Methods of example embodiments may determine a number of touches of each of a plurality of bins of a storage system, where the touches are calculated over a predetermined period of time, identify a bin with more touches than a bin at a first location, where the bin with more touches is at a second location, and direct the bin with more touches than the bin at the first location to be swapped with the bin at the first location. Identifying a bin with more touches may include identifying a bin with a number of touches that exceeds the number of touches of the bin in the first location by a predetermined amount.

  • Patent number: 8751034
Abstract: Cartridges of a computer-implemented cartridge library are moved without host system move commands to avoid bonding of cartridges to storage slots. Via a non-host interface providing external communication with respect to the cartridge library, an inventory list is obtained of cartridges of the cartridge library, bypassing host-based inventory limitations which limit each host's view to its own virtual library. Using the library inventory list, cartridges are identified that have been stored in one storage slot for a period of time that exceeds a threshold. The cartridge library is operated to move the identified cartridges, each moving to a different storage slot than the inventoried storage slot, and a library element address of each moved cartridge is updated without altering a host address for the cartridge.
