  • Patent number: 9874472
Abstract: Vibration amplitudes are recorded as a function of rotation speed and of frequency and the data is analyzed to estimate a noise floor amplitude threshold for each of a plurality of different speed and frequency sub-ranges. On the basis of training data known to be normal speed-frequency areas which contain significant spectral content in normal operation are deemed “known significant spectral content”, so that during monitoring of new data points which correspond to significant vibration energy at speeds and frequencies different from the known significant spectral content can be deemed “novel significant spectral content” and form the basis for an alert. The estimation of the noise floor is based on a probabilistic analysis of the data in each speed-frequency area and from this analysis an extreme value distribution expressing the probability that any given sample is noise is obtained.

  • Patent number: 9851774
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to dynamic clock and voltage scaling (DCVS) based on program phase. For example, during each program phase, a first hardware counter may count each cycle where a dispatch stall occurs and an oldest instruction in a load queue is a last-level cache miss, a second hardware counter may count total cycles, and a third hardware counter may count committed instructions. Accordingly, a software/firmware mechanism may read the various hardware counters once the committed instruction counter reaches a threshold value and divide a value of the first hardware counter by a value of the second hardware counter to measure a stall fraction during a current program execution phase. The measured stall fraction can then be used to predict a stall fraction in a next program execution phase such that optimal voltage and frequency settings can be applied in the next phase based on the predicted stall fraction.

  • Patent number: 9699678
Abstract: Small anechoic chambers for evaluating a wireless device under test (DUT) are characterized by a set of antennas to which a test signal is applied and for which excitation coefficients are applied such that the test signal approximates a single plane wave or a preselected superposition of plane waves in the near field of the antennas. The test-equipment antennas in the chamber may be as close as one wavelength from the boundary of a test zone in which the DUT is disposed. Hence, the test zone can be in the near field of the test-equipment antennas and the test zone can be less than a wavelength from the chamber walls. Consequently, it is possible to perform tests in a small anechoic chamber that previously required a large anechoic chamber, e.g., advanced spatial channel-model tests and antenna-pattern measurements.
