Abstract: The monitoring of a technical system using sensor data. In the event of the failure of a sensor, in this case, for the failed sensor, virtual sensor data are created on the basis of the remaining functional sensors. In this case, the sensors for the calculation of the virtual sensor data are selected in two stages. A second step involves calculating a mathematical relationship between the sensor data of a faulty sensor and the possible candidates of sensors for the calculation of the virtual sensor data. Those sensors which form a suitable basis for the calculation of the virtual sensor data can be identified in this way.

Abstract: Color conversion attempt to reproduce an input CMYK combination on a print media using an output CMYK combination. In a 2-step process, ICC profiles are used for the color conversion. In some instances, a 1-step process may be used that avoids the use of the ICC profiles and provides a faster processing time. If a certain number of standard deviations exceed 20%, then the 1-step process for color conversion may not be effective.

Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems generate and maintain patient-specific models of patient data to assist in monitoring a patient's unique health conditions, and to provide more informative analyses of patient data and the relationships between elements of patient data. When a patient modeling server receives patient data from an external device, the patient modeling server determines whether values for elements of patient data satisfy individualized ranges for the elements of patient data, specific to the patient. In response to this determination, the patient modeling server can transmit notification and/or alert messages, and modify the individualized ranges for the elements of patient data. The patient modeling server also determines relationships between elements of patient data, based on analyses performed on the elements of patient data, to generate patient-specific models.
Abstract: Determining pace or speed based on sensor data may include determining an amount of contact time a user's foot has with a workout surface such as the ground. Contact time may be determined by identifying samples in the sensor data that correspond to various events such as a heelstrike, a toe-off and a subsequent heelstrike. In one example, these events may be identified by determining a sequence of three sample values (e.g., a triplet) that exceeds corresponding thresholds. The validity of an identified triplet (e.g., heelstrike, toe-off and heelstrike) may be confirmed by determining whether a difference between a last event sample and a middle event sample is greater than a difference between the middle event sample and an initial event sample. Once confirmed, a contact time may be determined from the triplet. A linear or non-linear relationship may then be applied to the contact time to determine a speed or pace.

Abstract: A method and device for halting the extension or retraction of a retractable awning comprises a sensor coupled to a processor that commands awning extension and retraction. The sensor senses a motion parameter, such as acceleration, which is associated with extension or retraction motion of a retractable awning and generates corresponding respective extension or retraction motion parameter signals. The processor calculates an acceleration rate of change and/or a tilt angle from the motion parameter signals received from the sensor, and halts awning extension or retraction by generating and sending a stop signal when the acceleration rate of change or tilt angle meets at least one predetermined criterion.

Abstract: A method of tuning a patterning stack, the method including: defining a function that measures how a parameter representing a physical characteristic pertaining to a pattern transferred into a patterning stack on a substrate is affected by change in a patterning stack variable, the patterning stack variable representing a physical characteristic of a material layer of the patterning stack; varying, by a hardware computer system, the patterning stack variable and evaluating, by the hardware computer system, the function with respect to the varied patterning stack variable, until a termination condition is satisfied; and outputting a value of the patterning stack variable when the termination condition is satisfied.
