  • Patent number: 10438303
Abstract: A method of coupon distribution is used in connection with a demand response (DR) event. The method includes clustering DR customers into customer clusters based on energy use behaviors of the DR customers. Suggested coupons are received from merchants, each coupon including load serving entity (LSE) and merchant contributions. Based on energy price forecast, the suggested coupons, and customer information, a coupon distribution is found to maximizes a financial benefit to the LSE and includes an optimal number of the suggested coupons to be distributed to the customer clusters. The suggested coupons are distributed to the customer clusters per the coupon distribution and collecting responses to the suggested coupons indicating participation. Based on the customer responses, the method includes estimating energy curtailment contributions of the DR customers and an actual energy price for the DR event and communicating to an independent system operator an energy transaction bid based thereon.

  • Patent number: 9646320
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention enable users to manage codes which may be redeemed for value. For example, some embodiments provide systems and methods for automatically identifying a code communicated to a user which is redeemable for value, and adding the code to an inventory maintained for the user. When the user later shops at a site which allows a code to be redeemed for value, some embodiments of the invention may automatically detect when the user has navigated to a page on the site which allows redemption of the code, and may make the user aware that the code may be redeemed on the page. If the user opts to redeem the code, the field on the page into which the code is to be input may be automatically identified, and the code may be automatically input into that field.

Abstract: A commercial transaction management device includes a coupon creation control unit that receives a coupon issuance request containing sales terms when purchasing a plurality of items together from one user, a determination unit that determines whether to accept the sales terms based on information from a shop related to the items, and an issuance unit that issues an electronic coupon when it is determined to accept the sales terms. This enables an offer of a coupon that matches a desire of one user. In addition, the commercial transaction management device further includes a purchase receiving unit that receives a purchase order of a plurality of items with the sales terms from another user having received an offer of the coupon from one user, and therefore other users can also purchase a plurality of items with the sales terms contained in the coupon.

  • Patent number: 9524355
Abstract: A method for automatically presenting digital content to a user of a computer computes task-related metadata from data which may include i) a most recent event record, ii) a most recent specification received from the user of a task being performed by the user, iii) an automatic prediction of the current task being executed by the user, iii) past event records and associated task identifiers stored in a database and/or iv) content in resources associated with a given task. The task-related metadata is communicated to a digital content service provider. Digital content relevant to the user based on the task-related metadata is then selected, sent to the computer, and presented to the user. Rules and filters control the metadata going out and the content coming in, allowing automatic adaptation based on the current task, characteristics of the content, and other factors.

Abstract: A set of variations of a user experience on a subscription-based online site are tested, where each of the set of variations is distinct from other variations in the set of variations. Each of a group of users is assigned to one of the set of variations. For each user request received during a predetermined window of time, one of the set of variations is determined for use in processing the user request, based on a user associated with the user request, and the respective user request is processed using the determined variation. Long-term user metric information relating to subscription services for the subscription-based online site is determined, with respect to the group of users.
