Abstract: Methods, including service methods, articles of manufacture, systems, articles and programmable devices are provided for vehicle route planning as a function of vehicle type. A plurality of different routes for travel by a vehicle from a trip origin to a destination is determined, and the vehicle identified as either an internal combustion engine vehicle type or a hybrid vehicle type. A programmable device is caused to recommend a route of the determined plurality of routes to an operator of the identified vehicle as a function of the identified vehicle type, wherein a route recommended to the identified internal combustion engine vehicle type is different from a route recommended to the identified hybrid vehicle type. In some examples, identifying the vehicle as configured to generate operative energy through a regenerative braking energy component results in recommending a route will cause more breaking over a faster route.

Abstract: Described herein are various apparatuses, methods, and computer program products for providing a carbon-footprint modeling environment that determines a consumer's carbon footprint based on the consumer's acquisition of goods and/or services, as indicated by the consumer's transaction data. For example, the carbon-footprint modeling environment collects the consumer's transaction data for a predefined period of time and identifies transaction data that indicates the consumer's acquisition of goods and/or services that, when produced and/or consumed, result in greenhouse gas emissions. According to some embodiments, the carbon-footprint modeling environment categorizes goods and/or services into, for example, the following categories: transportation, housing, food, waste, and miscellaneous.

Each of the subscriptions is associated with a client entity and each of the subscriptions is linked to a corresponding portion of the regulatory data relating to at least one of the regulations: The subscription data and the regulatory data are accessible through the one or more compliance modules. Each compliance module is associated with a client entity and provides access to a subscription associated with the client entity and the corresponding portion of the regulatory data to which the subscription is linked. The system allows establishment, codification, and maintenance of enterprise policies, monitors electronic transactions of the enterprise from various and possibly heterogeneous data sources, detects exceptions to established policies, reports exceptions to authorized users such as managers and auditors, and/or provides a case management system for tracking exceptions and their underlying transactions. The knowledge base comprises extractor files that are utilized for extracting information from data sources for utilization in policy compliance monitoring, a mapper for normalizing data from the data sources against a system ontology and storing normalized data in a monitoring database, and computer-executable compliance policy statements used by a transaction analysis engine.

A service provider creates an emission reduction project plan for generating carbon emission reduction credits. A verification entity verifies compliance of the emission reduction project and generates a verification report. A certification entity authenticates the verification report and generates a certification report. A custodial financial institution reviews documents and title to rights and deposits carbon emission reduction credits into the service provider's carbon credit trading account based on the certification report, the verification report, and title documentation. The service provider creates carbon neutral products with unique identifiers using the carbon emission reduction credits in the pre-created carbon credit trading account.

Abstract: A system and method of ensuring completeness of automotive repair according to various aspects of the present invention comprises a criteria compliance system linked to a criteria analysis system. The criteria compliance system is adapted to provide a framework for relaying third party requirements to a repair facility. The criteria compliance system may also collect information regarding the third party requirements, such as which requirements are performed by the repair facility. The criteria analysis system analyzes the collected information to identify any noncompliances between the third party requirements and actions taken by the repair facility and may reduce the need for human inspection to ensure that a repair facility has complied with the third party requirements.

Abstract: A system and method for energy use is provided that includes a sustainability campus of co-located facilities, with associated facilities such as an energy development center, a source, and a processing or collection facility. The sustainability campus incorporates design principles and processes to decrease environmental impact per unit energy usage, increase waste reuse within the sustainability campus, and increase the receipt of financial credits.

Abstract: Systems and methods for authenticating parties involved in a transaction are disclosed. Some embodiments of the disclosure are directed to systems and methods for authenticating various identification attributes of a participant in a transaction. The attributes can include items such as the participant's name, address, social security number, date of birth, or any other identifying attributes. In some embodiments, all participants in a transaction may have identification information authenticated. The 3-D Secure protocol and framework is extended and enhanced to provide the ability to authenticate the identification details of participants in transactions.

Abstract: Record management of a business unit is aligned to a digital records policy of a business enterprise. The digital records policy may require process, technology and cultural changes to shift from paper to digital records management. Paper intensive processes tend to have a number of economic, environmental, and operational disadvantages. In addition, government regulations are increasingly requiring businesses to be able to locate and retrieve information quickly. An implementation document contains information about a business process so that a business process supporting digital records may be compared with a digital records policy of the business enterprise. If there are any gaps between the business process and the digital records policy, an action plan may be constructed in order to eliminate or mitigate the gaps. Also, the economic benefits for a business unit migrating to digital records may be analyzed by a business case wizard tool.

Abstract: Systems and methods for calculating threat scores for individuals within an organization or domain are provided. Aspects of the invention relate to computer-implemented methods that form a predictive threat rating for user accounts. In one implementation, a first threat score representing a first time period may be calculated. The first threat score may be compared with aspects of the same user accounts for a second time period. Weighting schemes may be applied to certain activities, controls, and/or user accounts. Further aspects relate to apparatuses configured to execute methods for ranking individual user accounts. Certain embodiments may not block transmissions that violate predefine rules, however, indications of such improper transmission may be considered when constructing a threat rating. Blocked transmissions enforced upon a user account may also be received. Certain activity, such as accessing the internet, may be monitored for the presence of a security threat and/or an ethics threat.

Abstract: An environmental footprint assessment system is disclosed. The environmental footprint assessment system determines the environment footprint of an entity by analyzing financial information regarding the entity. For example, the environmental footprint assessment system may determine the carbon footprint of a business. The environmental footprint assessment system compares an entity's financial information against a database of environmental impacts to produce an initial carbon footprint assessment for the entity. The initial assessment is reviewed for areas of spending that contribute significant to the entity's carbon footprint. The database of environmental impacts can be refined with additional environmental impact information regarding the areas of significant carbon contribution. A subsequent iteration of the carbon footprint assessment is performed, and an updated carbon footprint assessment is produced. The process is repeatedly iteratively to produce additional carbon footprint assessments.

System identifier data associated with a target system, including its unique system identifier, is received, along with digital assets selection data corresponding to digital assets data to be processed by the target system. The digital assets data and the digital assets entitlement data is then provided to a personalization agent associated with the target system. The system obtains a capital costs component value including capital costs for emission abatement retrofits at an existing power plant and a new power plant over a period of time. The system obtains a fuel costs component value including the sum of fuel utilization of all generating units in the existing power plant and new power plant over the period of time. The system obtains an emission costs component value including emission allowance costs and emission violation costs in the period of time. The system adds the capital costs component value, the fuel costs component value and the emission costs component value to compute a net present value that meets emission constraints.

A business value model is generated and utilized to focus a scope of the business drivers for the selected IEA entry point. An optimal IEA that satisfies the business drivers to ameliorate the pain points in the enterprise is then defined.

Abstract: A method and system that optimizes the delivery of training materials to an organization that seeks to implement an environmental management system (EMS) meeting the requirements of a standard (such as ISO 14001-2004). The system generates an optimized set of training materials for an organization based on two analyses. The system presents gap analysis questions pertaining to the elements of the standard. Responses received to the gap analysis questions are used to calculate a gap analysis score with respect to each of the elements. The system also presents aspects and impacts questions in a cascaded fashion, meaning that certain aspects and impacts questions are presented based at least in part on responses received to previous aspects and impacts questions. The system generates optimized training materials for the organization by filtering a set of training modules based on the gap analysis scores and the aspects and impacts responses.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to manufacturing a medical device in a way that minimizes the possibility of defects. Because of the general increasing desire to eliminate lead from the environment, electronic producers are removing lead from their manufacturing processes. The lead had beneficial qualities, however, in that it prevented other metals, in particular tin, from developing “whiskers,” believed to be caused from thermal and mechanical stress of the tin parts or components. Removing the lead has caused an increasing incidence of failure in electronic devices. Many vendors, believing that lead-free devices are universally desirable, routinely substitute lead-free components for components that previously contained lead. Oftentimes these substitutions are made without knowledge of the buyer. Some devices, in particular life-saving devices, may be adversely affected by such a substitution.

The present invention removes the need for paper-based receipts while preserving security through use of a digital signature on each electronic receipt verifying the transaction and other data related to the transaction. In an exemplary embodiment, the present invention includes a trusted email server, an authentication server, a point-of-sale (POS) terminal or the like, and a smart card or the like. A buyer can utilize the smart card to instruct the terminal to provide an electronic receipt. The terminal can utilize the trusted email server and the authentication server to digitally sign the electronic receipt with credentials trusted by the buyer, and these credentials can later be utilized to verify the electronic receipt.

Abstract: A centralized emission management system is implemented via a server that is accessible to a large number of entities. An entity uploads information about demographic data and resource consumption data of its organizational units, such as facilities, to determine measures of environmental impact, such as CO2e emissions. When resource consumption of a target organizational unit is not available, the entity can request the server to estimate the resource consumption based on private information about comparable organizational units within the entity or public information about comparable organizational units outside of the entity. The server determines the comparable organizational units based on the demographic data. The entity can select a resource consumption item of a comparable organizational unit from which the server determines an estimated resource consumption of the target organizational unit, generates an audit trail of the estimate, and determines a measure of environmental impact from the estimate.

Abstract: A centralized modeling system is implemented via a host server that is accessible to a large number of clients (organizations) using a website. In one example, it is assumed a client wishes to reduce its CO2e emissions by reducing its energy consumption by a certain amount per year. The client then enters a budget, and the server or client identifies a list of all the possible initiatives (specific projects) for electricity reduction. The client enters certain relevant information to customize the initiatives. The server may then automatically calculate, using conversion factors, each initiative's cost and estimated electricity and emissions reduction per year, among other metrics. The software allows the client to repeatedly select any combination of the initiatives and then models the resulting total energy savings and CO2e emission reduction, and any budgeted amount remaining. Based on the modeling, the client then decides on the overall strategy using a combination of the initiatives.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer-usable medium for a policy guidance system comprising one or more Cartesian coordinate plots of a policy's adherence and compliance guidelines. One or more segmented questionnaires are created, comprising a range of weighted responses, that are electronically distributed to one or more predetermined reviewers such as, but not limited to, policy makers or enforcers. Through the utilization of the technologies and concepts presented herein, GRC management may be automated to thereby provide significant reduction in customization per installation or customer. Compliance management of regulations for managed entities may entail receiving a set of control objectives mapped to the regulations. A set of scopes mapped to the managed entities may be received. Harmonized test results for the control objectives may be generated. Harmonized test results may be identified for a subset of the control objectives mapped to one or more specified regulations for the managed entities within a specified one of the set of scopes. Also, a compliance report may be generated based upon the identified harmonized test results.

This configuration may take place remotely, i.e., over a network connection.

The verification subsystem receives encrypted bids from bidders and generates commitment data based on the bids and provides the commitment data to each of the bidders. In response to receiving the commitment data, the bidders provide decryption keys for the encrypted bids. In turn, the bids are decrypted and an auction is performed using the decrypted bids. The results of the auction can be verified based on bid representations that do not reveal the actual values of bids, thereby maintaining the secrecy of bids. Providing access to an exchange between bidders and the verification subsystem facilitates verification that the auction is performed as a sealed bid auction.
