  • Patent number: 8554476
Abstract: Techniques are described for providing a meeting notification and automatic modification service. A system may be configured to identify an appointment in a calendar application, identify a geographic location of the appointment, and identify, before the appointment time, a geographic location of a first participant of the appointment. Based on the geographic information, the system may identify a route extending from the geographic location of the first participant to the geographic location of the appointment, and may identify a travel time associated with the route. Based on the travel time and the appointment time, the system may determine whether the first participant is estimated to arrive at the appointment on time and, based on the determination, the system may send a message to participants of the appointment or dynamically reschedule the appointment.

  • Publication number: 20130246116
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for scheduling a meeting with the best candidate(s). The user requests to schedule a meeting during a selected period of time. The system receives a set of rules concerning the scheduling of the meeting. Additionally, the system searches a past communication history (a past communication pattern) between the user and the individual(s) listed in a list of possible candidates. Furthermore, the system searches the calendar application for the individual(s) listed in the list to obtain scheduling information. The past communication history, calendar information and user's rules are analyzed with respect to the individual(s) listed in the list. Based on this analysis, a person deemed to be the best candidate is selected to receive a meeting invitation from the user to attend the meeting requested by the user during the selected period of time.

Abstract: An appointment matching apparatus facilitates event management by performing a method for scheduling appointments among attendees of an event. An event organizer configures the apparatus with event-specific information. The apparatus generates registration and appointment preference user interface forms that attendees use to register for the event and to request appointments with other attendees. The appointment preference form may receive from an attendee criteria for identifying other attendees with whom there is a desire to meet. An appointment matching process automatically schedules a set of appointments between/among matched attendees to optimize fairness or effectiveness over the entire set of scheduled appointments. The appointment matching process uses configuration data for the event, registration information, appointment preference criteria, and meeting location information.

Abstract: Systems and methods for scheduling events are described. In some embodiments, a method comprises: at a computer system, obtaining a request to schedule a calendar event including a plurality of constraints. In response to the request, a plurality of candidate calendar events that meets at least two of the plurality of constraints is obtained. The plurality of candidate calendar events and a plurality of user-editable options corresponding to the plurality of constraints are concurrently presented for display. In some embodiments, the method optionally includes obtaining, via a user-editable option, a modification to a constraint in the plurality of constraints which is then used to update the plurality of candidate calendar events. In some embodiments, the user-editable options are determined, at least in part, by user preferences. In some embodiments, the plurality of user-editable options further corresponds to a designation of one or more invitees to the scheduled calendar event.

Abstract: The computer program manages a mobile workforce with task persons and GPS-enabled devices by using the GPS time-based location data. A database is populated with task situs location data, event time data and task person data and task person contact data. The database is coupled to the web-based processor, telecommunications network and GPS-enabled device. The system operator programs temporal (time) based rules and location-based rules unique to the task situs. Some rules are both time and location based. When the temporal or territorial rules are violated, first and second comm-events are generated by the system, for example, a text or IVR message to the task person. When associated time-and-territorial rules are violated, a third communications event arises. The time based rules may be associated or correlated with the event time for the task. The event time may be a “time of arrival.” Further, rules may be for approach, entry, or on-location.

Abstract: Method, apparatus, and computer program products for scheduling and tracking preparatory work associated with electronic meeting invitations. When a meeting invitation is received and tentatively accepted, the user is prompted to enter the expected duration of the associated work. A floating block of time is created, subject to the constraint that it must be completed before the meeting convenes. If both the meeting and the floating block can be scheduled without irresolvable conflicts, they are added to the calendar, and a to-do associated with the floating block may be added to the to-do list. When an invitation for a second meeting conflicts with a first floating block associated with a first meeting, the first floating block may be rescheduled, within its completion-time constraint, to accommodate the second meeting.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for handling scheduling conflicts. The method can include a step of conveying scheduled events to a mobile communication device. Times associated with the events can be analyzed to determine potential conflicts. A set of previously established conflict resolution rules can be applied to the potential conflicts. Recommendations for resolving the potential conflicts can be generated based upon the applied rules. A notification of the potential conflicts and the generated recommendations can be presented to a user of the mobile device through an interface of the mobile communication device. The notifications and recommendations can occur a sufficient time before the potentially conflicting events occur to permit anticipatory actions to be taken to alleviate the conflicts before their occurrence.

Abstract: A method and system for creating electronic business referrals with cloud computing. Existing clients, customers or patient of a provider of professional services request a unique referral identifier tracking code (e.g., a unique QR code, etc.). The unique referral identifier tracking code is used by others as an automatic referral method to automatically schedule and appointment at a provider of the professional services, automatically record a referral discount for fee charged by the provider of the professional services and automatically record a referral credit for the existing client, customer or patient at provider of the professional services. The automatic referral method is completed with an electronic referral application in a cloud computing application when the unique referral identifier tracking code is received anywhere on a cloud computing network using less bandwidth and less processing cycles via the cloud communications network than via a non-cloud communications network.

Abstract: Identification of corrupted event data may be provided. Calendar events, such as appointments and meetings, may be created and copied to a plurality of attendee calendars. Changes to the event may be logged and, if the change results from a user interaction with a user interface, a user intent identifier may be associated with the log entry. Other changes that do not result from direct user interaction may not be associated with the user intent identifier. Event corruption detection may identify out-of-sync properties between two calendar events associated with the same meeting and, if the out-of-sync property is not associated with the user intent identifier, the properties may be updated to match each other.
