Abstract: The system provides a technique for finding relevant content and content sources based on the aggregation and analysis of individual indications of relevance. The system identifies and provides selections of relevant content. It may comprise a selection acquisition subsystem, a selection network repository subsystem, a scoring engine, and a recommendation engine, and is used to generate sources of content comprising sets of prioritized links directed to a topic or community of interest.

Abstract: Among other disclosure, a computer-implemented method for business process reporting includes receiving, at a server device, a first identifier of a business document, the business document being an instance of a business document type and having a first timestamp. The method includes polling multiple systems with the first identifier using the server device, the polling requesting (i) second identifiers for related objects of the business document according to a relationship model that is local to the system being polled, and (ii) metadata associated with the second identifiers, including second timestamps associated with the related objects; performing polling of at least some of the multiple systems with the second identifiers and any subsequently received identifiers using the server device, until the polling has been performed for all received identifiers.

Abstract: A computer, computer program product, and method identify referrer context information associated with a remote object link. A network inspection module monitors network traffic and a remote object link identification module identifies remote links and their associated referrer context information. A link storage module stores the referrer context information along with the associated link. A look up module looks up the referrer context information in response to a request for a source of a link. The referrer context information is an important security resource in identifying the true source of a threat, and in avoiding future attacks. In addition, it allows for a more complete picture of how a link moves from one client to another by tracking how the link was sent and received.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for identifying entities using search results. One of the methods includes the actions of determining that a first search query includes a respective text reference to each of one or more predetermined attributes, wherein each attribute is associated with a first entity type; generating a second search query including the first search query and one or more terms that refer to the first entity type; and evaluating search results obtained for the second search query to select one or more names of entities of the first entity type to include in a response to the first search query.

Abstract: An online address book system having sufficient hardware and software to operate an address book user interface and to perform intelligent interpretations of voice and text inputs from users. The system includes at least one server software module that includes software to perform a plurality of functions. These include the ability to receive voice input data and separate user voice queries, wherein the software can arrange the data so as to create a data base that includes at least three access dimensions, including contact access, contact-relationship access and contact-time frame access, and so as to create a connectivity matrix based on a plurality of contact pair relationships applying connective recognition logic. The system provides a voice operated user interface that permits access to address book stored data based on user input selected from the group consisting of contact, a contact-relationship pair, a contact-time frame pair, and combinations thereof.

Abstract: An image container file has at least first and second multimedia streams (MSs). The first MS includes first image data representing an image. The second MS includes arbitrary data, which can for example, correspond to: a different representation of the same image; annotations to the first image data; second image data that together with the first image data form a new image with greater dynamic range, resolution, field of view or other attributes that can be derived from processing two or more independent images; or an executable file related to the first MS. The image container file can also include an extensible metadata to hold information describing one or more multimedia streams of the image container file. Further, the image container file may include DRM information to provide information related to obtaining a license to access encrypted data or verifying the authenticity of encrypted or unencrypted data.

Abstract: Techniques are described for effecting data aggregation in a network. Event notifications are received from a plurality of content sites on the network. Each event notification indicates occurrence of an event associated with a corresponding one of the content sites. Each event corresponds to a change to content associated with the corresponding content site. In response to each event notification, event metadata are generated. The event metadata include a time stamp for the event and change data corresponding to the change to the content. The event metadata are indexed in a plurality of databases with reference to a plurality of index metrics including the time stamp. The indexing of the event metadata for each event occurs within days, hours, or even minutes of receipt of the corresponding event notification thereby enabling retrieving of the changes to the content from the plurality of databases using any of the index metrics in near real time.

Abstract: List-based search results are generated. According to one technique, items are extracted from multiple resources deemed relevant to a user-submitted search query, and a comprehensive master list of those items is compiled and returned to the query-submitted user in response to his submission. According to another technique, lists of items are identified within such query-relevant resources. For each list-containing resource deemed to be relevant to the query terms, a list is extract from that resource and included within that resource's abstract on the search results page returned to the user in response to his submission. Additionally, the resources may be re-ranked for generation of the search results page based on the lists contained within those resources in addition to (or regardless of) occurrences of query terms within those resources.

Abstract: A search engine can provide referencing information as context for a particular search result when an excerpt from the search result, comprising at least some similar elements to the user's query, is not generated. Referencing information can include one or more anchor texts having similarity to at least some elements of the user's query, the anchor texts being used by referencing pages to link to the page returned as a search result. User selection of the anchor text can enable the user to visit a referencing page using that anchor text to link to the page returned as a search result, and having a high static rank.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for generating search results including receiving a search request and accessing a corpus of data to determine relevant content for inclusion in a search result set on the basis of the search request. The method and system includes determining at least one pivot data point, the at least one pivot data point being contextually related to the search result set on the basis of a review of the search result set and generating an active data link for refinement of the search result set on the basis of the data pivot point. The method and system further includes generating a search result output display for the presentation of at least a portion of the search result set and the active data links and toggling the search result output display to present refinement of the search results set.

Abstract: A document, which may be referred to as a “citing document,” may include citations to one or more cited documents. An index of such documents may be referred to as a citation index or citator. A citation may be preceded in a citing document by introductory text, which may be called a signal, and one or more entries in a citation index may indicate which signal, if any, introduced a recorded citation. Computerized systems and methods for causing such display are also provided.

Abstract: The system and methods herein provide feedback of a web page quality/legitimacy factor, various user interaction parameters, a contact address correlation factor, and an explicit web page rating on the reverse path from the client to the severs for Internet search operations. This operation facilitates to improve the quality of websites/web pages and enhances the efficiency of the Internet search operation. This reverse communication also allows for the automatic blockage of any illegitimate websites due to poor “contact address correlation factor” and poor “web page quality factor.” The rating of the websites is based on a computed number called “web page quality factor.” The “web page quality factor” is communicated in the reverse path of Internet search operation back to various whois servers, domain registrars, and web servers on the Internet to further improve quality. This facilitates the filtering of scammers, squatters, illegal/unwanted sites, etc.

If a save file opened by the application is determined to comprise third party data, the application may determine whether an appropriate data provider is available. Abstract: A computer-implemented system and methods of re-ranking sponsored search results by a search engine in response to a search query include: retrieving one or more organic search results and a plurality of sponsored search results (“search results”), along with their respective rankings, associated with a search query; determining a degree of association between each sponsored search result and the other search results through analyzing web links between the plurality of sponsored search results, the one or more organic search results, and other web documents to or from which the search results are at least indirectly linked; re-ranking the plurality of sponsored search results based on the degree of association between each respective sponsored search result and the other search results; and storing in memory the plurality of re-ranked sponsored search results in relation to the search query.

The device also rejects the blog post if the blog post has insufficient length, contains outgoing links located a predetermined distance from the beginning of the blog post, has a large out-degree, was created before or after a predetermined time, or has incoming links with a low link-based score. The device further provides the blog post in connection with the search result document if the blog post was not rejected.

Abstract: To construct a classifier, a data structure correlating queries to items identified by the queries is received, where the data structure contains initial labeled queries that have been labeled with respect to predetermined classes, and unlabeled queries that have not been labeled with respect to the predetermined classes. The data structure is used to label at least some of the unlabeled queries with respect to the predetermined classes. Queries in the data structure that have been labeled with respect to the predetermined classes are used as training data to train the classifier.

Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus, including computer program products, to provide posts to discussion threads in response to a search query. The methods include receiving information identifying multiple resources that have been identified by a search engine as satisfying a search query, identifying a first resource in the multiple resources as including a post to a discussion forum, and identifying one or more second resources that are each distinct from the first resource. Each second resource is linked directly or indirectly to the first resource and includes one or more other posts to the discussion forum. Abstract: Tools and techniques for converging terms within a collaborative tagging environment are described herein. Methods for converging divergent contributions to the collaborative tagging environment may include receiving respective contributions from users within the environment. The methods may identify at least some of the contributions as divergent, and enable the users to converge the divergent contributions.

A method includes gathering information about web pages in a website, including information related to web page relationships, controls, and executable code underlying one or more web pages in the website. A relationship map is created. The relationship map includes representations of relationships between the web pages, the controls and the executable code underlying one or more web pages in the website. The method further includes graphically displaying at least a portion of the relationship map in a graphical user interface at the computing system.

Abstract: A method for transparently navigating through exported file system namespaces on a server using a single mount. When an exported file system is mounted onto a client, the client creates a file system ID structure for the exported file system, wherein the file system ID structure is populated with unique properties of the exported file system, and wherein the unique properties include a file system ID. The client also creates an internal virtual file system structure for the exported file system ID structure, wherein the internal virtual file system structure includes a virtual file system ID. Once the file system and virtual file system structures are created, the client links the file system objects created within the mount to the file system ID structure until a user moves from one exported file system to a second exported file system and a new file system ID is detected.

Abstract: An authoring system on a mobile device (or other type of device) may help a user to author a message based on context available on the device. Context data comes to exist on the device in some manner. For example, the context may contain the results of a search that a user has performed on the device. A message may be proposed based on the search query and/or the result—e.g., if a user searches for “Edinburgh,” the authoring system may propose the message “Username likes Edinburgh” or “Username is learning about Edinburgh.” The authoring system may allow the user to change the message and/or to add additional content and/or links to the message. The user may then to send the message over some channel such as e-mail, a social network, a microblogging site, etc.

Abstract: Links to web content can be identified as a function of one or more links shared by a user of an online social network service, among other things. The identified links can represent recommended links likely to be interesting to the user. Densification techniques can be employed to address data sparsity and thus enhance link recommendation. Furthermore, recommended links can be integrated with a search engine to personalize interaction with web content.

Abstract: An object classification system is provided that receives, from a user, at least one piece of information relating to the object, wherein the information does not directly specify a classification for the object, and that applies at least one rule that classifies the object based, at least in part, on the at least one piece of information received from the user. The techniques described herein also enable classifying an object by, in response to a request from at least one application to access the object, applying at least one rule that dynamically classifies the object.

Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatus, including computer program products are described for ranking content items identified by a search engine and delivering corresponding search results. In one aspect, search engine user language preference data is stored in association with user content item selection records. Analysis of the records is performed to identify content items that appeal to users having common language preferences. Query results can be ranked based on the language preference of the current user and/or the user's query and data derived from the selection records.

Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for updating content are presented. A first version of content residing on a user device is determined, and a second version of content relating to the first version of content is determined. Version information for each file within a second set of files organized within a second archive of the second version of content is sequentially accessed based on a second order of the second set of files in the second archive, the version information indicating a version of each file. A determination is made of when version information indicating a newer version of content has been accessed from the second archive, and new content associated with the newer version is provided to the user device.

The search results each satisfy the search query and have a respective search result quality score. The search results include generic and mobile search results. The generic and mobile search results each identify a generic and mobile resource, respectively. The search result quality scores include mobile and generic search result quality scores for the mobile and generic search results, respectively. The mobile search result quality scores and the generic search result quality scores were generated according to different scoring formulas. Based on one or more terms in the search query, the search query is classified as a mobile query. As a consequence, one or more search result quality scores are modified to improve the sorting of search results that include both mobile and generic search results.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a search query, identifying a document based on the search query, and providing a search result based on the document. Abstract: A namespace exploits individual resource identity attributes of an application to allow the integration of resource instances from applications into a configuration management database (CMDB), prior to any data cleansing or namespace harmonization activities. An approach for incremental reconciliation of resource instances within the CMDB is defined.

Based on the search query, multiple search results each including links may be determined. A perceived popularity may be assessed for each of the first and second content items. The perceived popularity may be a measure of the popularity of the first and second content items, and may be distinct from a popularity of the first and second digital instances. A presentation of the multiple search results may be determined based on the accessed perceived popularity.

Abstract: A website mining tool is disclosed that extracts information from, for example, a company's website and presents the extracted information in a graphical user interface (GUI). In one embodiment, web pages from a website are stored in, for example, computer memory and a structure of the web pages is identified. A plurality of blocks of information is then extracted as a function of this structure and a category is assigned to each block of information. The elements in the blocks of information are then displayed, for example to a salesperson, as a function of these categories. In another embodiment, Document Object Modeling parsing is used to identify the structure of the web pages. In yet another embodiment, a support vector machine is used to categorize each block of information.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods and computer program products for generating search results comprising web documents with associated expert information. One embodiment of a method for generating such search results includes receiving one or more search queries, selecting one of the one or more search queries, determining one or more categories of web documents responsive to the selected search query and crawling a web graph of linked web documents to identify one or more web documents tagged as within the one or more categories responsive to the selected search query. The method further includes generating a result set of the one or more web documents identified as within the one or more categories responsive to the selected search query, ranking the result set and generating a list of ranked search results responsive to the selected search.

Abstract: Computer-implemented system and methods for authenticating the identity of a person, for example a customer (1) of an E-Commerce web site (15). The web site or other verification “client” (110) contacts a verification engine (10, 100) (“Authentex”), which may be implemented as a web server (604). The verification engine (10), in turn, has limited access to a plurality of independent, third-party secure databases (21, 112) which are maintained by Trusted Validators (3, 610, 620, etc), which are entities such as banks that have a pre-existing relationship with customer (FIG. 4), and due to that relationship, acquire and maintain “out-of-wallet” data (4) that may be useful to authenticate the identity of the customer. That confidential customer data—held by the third-party “Trusted Validators”—is not disclosed.

Abstract: An inappropriate-access module is incorporated in a computer system along with other computer system modules. The inappropriate-access module is connected to a read address decoder and controlling logic located within various other modules. The inappropriate-access module produces an inappropriate-access flag, made available to the rest of the system, which invokes responses in the accompanying modules such as a halt in processing and protective measures for system resources. Additionally, a related logic block is able to detect the inappropriate access and produce an inappropriate-access trigger which causes a halt to processing within the logic block as well as in related system modules.

The ability of embodiments to link custom share row causes to sharing records may allow users of such on-demand services to utilize custom row causes to determine why a sharing record was added and to identify the source of a sharing record.

The system and method include receiving a jump destination distribution ratio representing a ratio of jumping to each of a plurality of sites storing same contents, which varies over time, and contents including a hyperlink to which the jump destination distribution ratio is correlated, judging whether a time period elapsing from a time the contents are received until a time the hyperlink included in the contents is selected is equal to or longer than a predetermined time period, and acquiring a jump destination distribution ratio effective at a point in time at which the hyperlink is selected from the server responsive to determining that the time period elapsed is equal to or longer than the predetermined time period.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a search query is received. Information identifying a bookmark representing the search query is automatically stored in association with a set of bookmarks. Search results corresponding to the search query are automatically obtained and provided, where the search results identify one or more documents. The swarm can include the original content, changes to the original content, the persons contributing the changes, and metadata, such as comments contributed by members of the swarm. Swarms and their behaviors can be used to validate or invalidate content.
