Personalized Results Patents (Class 707/732)
  • Patent number: 8909635
Abstract: A content management system provides a profiling mechanism that automatically tags changes made to elements in a document with applicability metadata, and uses the applicability metadata when processing a request to the repository by a user to filter the query results according to a profile for the user. A profiling mapping policy defines roles for users of the content management system. When content is requested from the repository, the profiling mechanism inserts one or more additional request parameters based on the profile of the user. The results that match both the original request and the additional request parameter(s) are returned to the user. When the user views the results, additional filtering may occur to filter individual elements from the user that do match the user's profile.

  • Patent number: 8892552
Abstract: A user can issue a query on a search host site. The search host can construct a corresponding reference to custom search engine (CSE) with a URL pointing to a site with information for a CSE specification. The search host sends the reference to a CSE provider and the CSE provider dynamically generates the CSE specification based on the reference. The CSE provider then conducts a search and processes search results accordingly. The processed search results are sent to the search host who outputs the search results for the user. The information for the CSE specification can be stored anywhere accessible in a computer network and can be stored in various formats. Any number of CSE specifications can be automatically generated on demand corresponding to different queries or content requests on the search host site.

  • Patent number: 8856112
Abstract: User accounts in a social networking application are divided into highly-connected accounts and regular accounts. A mapping of the highly-connected accounts to their friends, and a mapping of accounts to documents endorsed by the users associated with the accounts are stored on index servers of a search engine. When a query is received by a front-end server of the search engine, the front-end server determines if an account associated with the query is a highly-connected account. If it is, only an identifier of the account is sent to the index servers with the query. If it is not, however, then identifiers of all of the accounts that are friends with the account are sent with the query. The index servers then determine the documents that are endorsed by the friends of the account, and consider the determined documents when selecting documents that are responsive to the query.

Abstract: A method for providing selected content items to a user. The selection of content items is based on metadata pre-assigned to content items, typically authored content metadata, and on metadata generated and associated afterwards, called derived content metadata. Additionally, the selection of content items can be based also on context metadata, particularly derived context metadata. Derived metadata are automatically generated on the basis of derivation rules corresponding to algorithms to be applied to, e.g., the content of content items, authored content metadata and context metadata. User profiles can be used for improving the selection quality. A method is also disclosed for building and maintaining user profiles based on machine learning techniques.

Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for developing a timeline chronicling events pertaining to an industrial asset. Data is received from a plurality of assets, processed (e.g., to reduce duplicative and/or redundant data), and organized chronologically for presentation in a timeline. The data is further grouped and/or prioritized to display some portions of the data more prominently relative to other portions of the data in the timeline (e.g., which may be hidden). Grouping rules and/or prioritization rules for grouping and/or prioritizing the data may be a function of user interaction with the timeline and/or a function of a machine learning algorithm which may be configured to identify patterns in how users interact with the timeline based upon, among other things, a role the user plays relative to the industrial asset and/or an operating state of the industrial asset.

Abstract: A find engine provides a user with access to information via a find interface and a keep interface. The find interface accesses both a content search index and a personal search index; the keep interface accesses personal search index. The content search index lists document content, user generated content, and semantic vectors; the personal search index lists user generated content, user explicit gestures, and user implicit gestures. The user explicit gestures comprise keeps that are captured via the keep interface and that consist of any of one or more documents and sites from among the search results to which the user ascribes significance by affirmatively keeping the document or site. The keeps are preserved as one or more persistent search objects and the search results returned to the user are ranked and/or returned in response to the query at least in part in accordance with the keeps.
