Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system that facilitates searching an online content management system for content items associated with a user. During operation, the system receives a call from a client application at a search interface in the online content management system, wherein the client application is operating on behalf of the user. In response to the call, the system performs a lookup in a per-user index within the online content management system, wherein the per-user index facilitates looking up information about content items associated with the user in the online content management system. The system then returns the information obtained during the lookup to the client application. The client application can then use the retrieved information to facilitate an interaction between the client application and the user.

Abstract: A method for tag-based search includes capturing an image, extracting a tag from the image, identifying a location associated with the captured image, and querying stored content for information that matches the location and the tag. Local storage is checked for the information first, and remote storage may be checked subsequently. Any located information may be used to augment the image. Information located in the remote storage may be saved in the local storage until it reaches a certain age, until it fails to be accessed for a threshold period of time, or until the location moves outside a threshold radius associated with a location of the information located in the remote storage.

Abstract: A source system receives listing identification data for delivery of an enhanced listing to a plurality of provider systems. For each provider system of the plurality of provider systems the source system transmits to the provider system identification data. The source system receives corresponding identification data. When the corresponding identification data is valid identification data, the source system delivers the enhanced listing to the provider system with a provider-supplied external identifier as an indication to the provider system to update a listing with enhanced content. When the corresponding identification data is not valid identification data, the source system delivers the enhanced listing to the provider system without the provider-supplied external identifier as an indication to the provider system to create a listing using the enhanced content. The enhanced content may comprise one or more structured lists.

In one aspect, a method includes receiving an original query including a first limitation. First search results responsive to a modified query are obtained, where the first limitation has been omitted from the modified query. One or more common characteristics shared by two or more resources are identified. Each of the two or more resources corresponds to a different highly-ranked result of the first search results. A second modified query including the original query and a second limitation representing the one or more common characteristics is generated. Second search results responsive to the second modified query are obtained. The second search results are provided in a response to the original query.

Abstract: In accordance with embodiments disclosed herein, there are provided mechanisms and methods for implementing virtual objects in an on-demand database environment. For example, in one embodiment, mechanisms include receiving a data request at a host organization, wherein the data request specifies a first data source internal to the host organization and further specifies a second data source external to the host organization; retrieving first data results from the first data source based on the data request; retrieving second data results from the second data source based on the data request; and returning aggregated data results responsive to the data request based on the first data results and the second data results retrieved. In one embodiment, the internal data source is a multi-tenant database within the host organization.

Abstract: A method executed at least in part in a computing device for providing cloud based skip tracing is provided. The method includes providing a cloud based service enabling data interchange with a plurality of vendors providing skip tracing services and receiving at the cloud based service and from a user a file of records for skip tracing. The method further includes applying a waterfall process to the records using the computing device wherein the waterfall process includes at least a subset of the plurality of vendors and returning to the user a results file containing skip tracing results corresponding to the records. The method may further include generating a waterfall score card and sending the waterfall score card to the user, the waterfall score card summarizing performance of the subset of the plurality of vendors.

Abstract: A method according to the present invention may be used to convey information to enhance customer service for a wide variety of industries, and especially the automotive repair industry. Among other things, methods of the present invention allow a service provider to supply customers with information on services provided using one or more methods of distribution and in a manner that is fast, efficient, and easy for the customer to access. The information provided to customers can be distributed in a variety of formats and stored permanently for retrieval by the customer at any time.

Abstract: A multi-functional display device and a method of controlling the same are disclosed herein. The multi-functional display device and method provides access to human channel services, such as social network services (SNS), on a designated channel on the display device. The method may include assigning channels for a multi-functional display device including assigning a first channel number to at least one broadcast channel, and assigning a second channel number to at least one social network service (SNS) account of one of a first individual and at least one second individual associated with the first individual. The method may include displaying a list of individuals with channel numbers on a display of the multi-functional display device in a social network service (SNS) channel mode, selecting one of the individuals on the list, and displaying information related to the individual or communicating with the selected individual using a SNS account.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for reducing an amount of data representing a genetic sequence of an organism using a Hadoop type distributed file system. The method including the steps of breaking a surprisal data filter and an uncompressed genetic sequence into blocks of data of a fixed size; distributing the blocks of data to the plurality of worker nodes within the clusters and replicating the blocks of data within each of the worker nodes; tasking the plurality of worker nodes to perform a map job comprising mapping the surprisal data filter relative to the uncompressed genetic sequence; and when a worker node has reported a completion of the map job, tasking the worker node with a reduce job based on a specific key to an output of surprisal data and associated metadata.

Abstract: A system provides a controller user interface control and/or display of aspects of a storage area network (SAN) and components thereof, including performance characteristics and alert relationship analyses. The controller enables determinations of alert relationships “on-the-fly” for alerts affecting and affected by multiple causes, symptoms and impacts in the SAN, including on-the-fly determinations of root causes. The on-the-fly determinations of the controller provide that the alert relationships may be determined in response to a query or request by the user without requiring the maintaining of a large stored hierarchical relationship structure of alerts.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for facilitating remote search via an ad hoc community. In the context of a method, a search request is received from a remote terminal for information from an ad hoc community. The ad hoc community is formed by a plurality of terminals at a first location using a proximity-based wireless communication technology to communicate with each other. The remote terminal is located at a second location that is outside of a range of the proximity-based wireless communication technology from the first location. The method includes causing a first terminal of the plurality of terminals to broadcast the search request to the plurality of terminals using the proximity-based wireless communication technology. The method also receives information responsive to the search request from the plurality of terminals and causes the first terminal of the plurality of terminals to transmit the received information to the remote terminal.

In response to identifying an imminent appointment for a communication session when the mobile device is out-of-coverage, the mobile device performs a scanning operation for identifying a wireless network for communications.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a system and method for automatedly aggregating medically related data and disseminating different sets of the aggregated data to two or more different members of a medical care provider. Some embodiments automatedly and intelligently disseminate the aggregated data such that the data that is written once to the data storage solution is usable for a multitude of purposes within the functions of the medical care provider. Some embodiments intelligently disseminate the aggregated data by disseminating only relevant sub-components of the data to different members of the medical care provider based on the needs of the members such that different members receive different subsets of the data.

In accordance with the present disclosure, site objects, channel objects and content objects are associated with each other to form a hierarchical site structure. User requests for images associated with local image files result in transfer of the requested images by the central server to the user. User requests for images associated with remote image files are relayed by the central server to the associated remote location, and the requested images are then relayed to the user from the remote location via the central server.

Abstract: An information retrieval system implements a search language, through which a querying entity (e.g., a user, a program or process, or the like) formulates a search query. Preferably, a search query is composed of an ordered set of clause definitions, and each clause can have set membership operations applied to it. Each clause includes a clause pipeline, and a time constraint. A clause pipeline includes an ordered set of clause specifications separated by a pipeline operator. A clause specification can be either an expansion operation or a filtering operation. Preferably, a first clause specification in a pipeline operates on an initial universe of all objects, and each subsequent clause specification operates on a set of objects produced from the previous clause specification. Abstract: In a method for improving the efficiency of a search engine in accessing, searching and retrieving information in the form of documents stored in document or content repositories, the search engine comprises an array of search nodes hosted on one or more servers. An index of the stored document is created. The search engine processes a user search query and returns a result set of query-matching documents. The index of the search engine is configured on the basis of one or more document properties and partitioned, replicated and distributed over the array of the search nodes. The search queries are processed on the basis of the distributed index. The method realizes a framework for distributing the index of a search engine across several hosts in a computer cluster, relying on three orthogonal mechanisms for index distribution, namely index partitioning, index replication, and assignment of replicas to hosts.

The shard arbiter can use business rules to determine how data is sharded among databases, and may utilize different types of databases—communicating with each database in its native language.

Preferably, each database server includes an database created at least in part by the passive capture of data on the network, and each of which supports database queries including at least one of metadata and text via its respective interface. Abstract: A data structure of index information for retrieving pair character strings on a computer at high speed is provided. A method of retrieving a pair character strings appearing in close proximity of each other in a document using the index information at high speed is also provided. Bits of a suffix array of reference document data are rearranged, thereby creating index information LSA localizable, or usable as an index for a subregion of the document. Through use of this, a process of dichotomizing a region, where the entire document is designated as an initial region, is repeated and positions of index information for a query character string in the reference document data are gradually detailed. The distance between the pair is evaluated and candidates are narrowed down. Finally, positions where the pair character strings occur in close proximity of each other are identified.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards managing within a cluster environment having a plurality of indexers for data storage using redundancy the data being managed using a generation identifier, such that a primary indexer is designated for a given generation of data. When a master device for the cluster fails, data may continue to be stored using redundancy, and data searches performed may still be performed.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for automatically obtaining documents that are referenced by an electronic communication, such as an email or instant message, for archival are disclosed. One method involves searching at least a portion (e.g., the header and/or body) of an electronic communication for a reference to a document and, in response to detecting the reference, automatically obtaining an electronic copy of the document. The electronic copy of the document can then be archived.

Abstract: A system for receiving search queries from more than one remote device and performing collaborative searching is provided. The system includes more than one remote mobile device connected to a computer. Each remote mobile device generates search data that includes user data that comprises a user profile and search behavior. The remote devices generate search queries that are simultaneously received by the computer, which also receives the user data. The computer parses the search queries and user data for determining commonalities and then performs a search representative of at least one common search query. The computer then provides the search results to a user, where the search results comprise a listing of results representative of the common search query.

Abstract: Example embodiments relate to file-based social recommendations. In example embodiments, a system may search a social network to identify uploaded files that are similar to a file from a user and then identify unconnected users that uploaded the uploaded files, where the unconnected users are not connected to the user in the social network. In response to identifying the unconnected users, the system may then communicate a user recommendation that at least one unconnected users be added to the social context.

Abstract: A computerized system and method for analyzing color consistency on automotive parts and for providing feedback on painting processes occurring in an assembly plant. The system and method facilitates data collection and analysis at numerous points during the assembly paint processes and the identification of possible adjustments so that parts are painted within a specified tolerance. Body and bumper parts are measured during an inspection process. Measurement and colorimetric data is stored in association with an identifier for the body part or bumper. Measurements relate to equipment and paint mix variables as well as environmental variables that influence the paint results. A software application facilitates analysis of the data and troubleshooting possible causes for color discrepancies. As the color trends away from a specified standard, paint process, including environmental, changes are made, prior to the painting of parts in the bumper or body so that color mismatches are prevented.
