Abstract: Embodiments are directed are towards the transparent summarization of events. Queries directed towards summarizing and reporting on event records may be received at a search head. Search heads may be associated with one more indexers containing event records. The search head may forward the query to the indexers the can resolve the query for concurrent execution. If a query is a collection query, indexers may generate summarization information based on event records located on the indexers. Event record fields included in the summarization information may be determined based on terms included in the collection query. If a query is a stats query, each indexer may generate a partial result set from previously generated summarization information, returning the partial result sets to the search head. Collection queries may be saved and scheduled to run and periodically update the summarization information.

Abstract: A remote browsing process is directed to the generation and management of a remote browse session at a network computing provider. A client computing device requests a remote browse session instance at a network computing provider. The network computing and storage provider processes the requested content for display, and provides a processed representation of the requested content to the client computing device for display. The network computing provider further provides a historical content representation corresponding to the requested content to a historical browse storage component for storage. The network computing provider may further provide historical content representations to the historical browse storage component for content directly or indirectly referenced by the requested content. The client computing device may subsequently search for content not previously displayed by the client computing device.

Abstract: Information is automatically identified and shared between individuals who wish to become socially or professionally “connected.” An electronic communication is sent from one person to another including a request or invitation to be personally connected. If such information is found during the search, it is provided to the persons wishing to be connected. Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method and device for obtaining a shared object associated with a real scene. A network device obtains an access respect sent by a user through user equipment based on the scene image corresponding to the real scene; performs match query in a shared object repository based on the scene image so as to obtain one or more shared objects corresponding to the access request; and provides said one or more shared objects to the user equipment. Abstract: A system and method for generating thematic topics in assisting the compilation and dissemination of user generated content for citizen journalism in context from two or more media sources is provided. A first media source is queried for first topics. The first media source is one of the two or more media sources. The first topics are cross-referenced with a second media source of the one or more media sources. A most popular topic of the first topics is determined among the one or more media sources. The most popular topic has a greatest number of query and cross-reference results among the first topics. The determined most popular topic is associated with a related User Generated Content, UGC and transmitted. The resulting compendium of topics and UGC promotes development of a citizen journalism community and such online favorable reporting remains compatible with professional standards.

Abstract: There is provided an ecommerce method and system to generate a data dictionary for searching data items stored in a database. In one embodiment, the system comprises a candidate list generator module to generate a list of keywords from search query information and generate a set of token pairs including a keyword from the list of keywords and a token, the token being a synonym of the keyword. Demand information retrieved from query logs maintained for user-provided query entries is used to apply candidate selection rules to token pairs. The system also comprises a validation module and a data dictionary module to receive validated token pairs as entries in a vocabulary.

Abstract: A system customizes a news document associated with a user of a news aggregation service. The system includes multiple news source servers that store news content and a remote news aggregation server. The news aggregation server creates a customized news document based on one or more personalized search queries received from a user. The news aggregation server fetches the news content from the multiple news source servers, aggregates the news content, and searches the aggregated news content based on the one or more personalized search queries. The news aggregation server provides selected news content to the customized news document based on results of the search.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system for, and method of, determining whether records and entity representations should be linked. The system and method include assigning to each pair of entity references a match value reflecting the likelihood that the entity references are related. Based on the match values, each entity reference may then associated with a preferred entity reference. Pairs of entity references that are mutually preferred may then be identified and linked. The process may be iterated to generate further links.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include methods and systems for domain name system (DNS) pre-caching. A method for DNS pre-caching is provided. The method includes receiving uniform resource locator (URL) hostnames for DNS pre-fetch resolution prior to a user hostname request for any of the URL hostnames. The method also includes making a DNS lookup call for at least one of the URL hostnames that are not cached by a DNS cache prior to the user hostname request. The method further includes discarding at least one IP address provided by a DNS resolver for the URL hostnames, wherein a resolution result for at least one of the URL hostnames is cached in the DNS cache in preparation for the user hostname request. A system for DNS pre-caching is provided. The system includes a renderer, an asynchronous DNS pre-fetcher and a hostname table.

Abstract: Determining common table definitions in distributed databases includes independently establishing, for a node in a distributed database, a common network definition for shared logical table names. Establishing the common network definition includes providing local definitions for at least one logical table, and querying at least one node in a network of nodes to determine any existing network definitions for the logical table. If there is no existing network definition, the method includes adding the local definition as a new network definition. If there is an existing network definition, the method includes updating the existing network definition with any extra columns of local definition, and applying an updated network definition to other nodes in the network holding a record of the network definition.

Abstract: User input from a reduced keypad is disambiguated and compared with a first dynamic lexicon, and predicted matches (e.g. either a single word or phrase) are offered. If a user continues to type beyond a boundary condition, then input is no longer predicted from the first lexicon, but instead is interpreted as a request for matches from a second, quasi-static lexicon allowing words or phrases to be entered. When the entry is accepted, data is transmitted to a remote receiver and may be parsed as an inquiry for subsequent operation. Following acceptance, the apparatus invokes a program suitable for interacting with the response generated to the inquiry.

The techniques include maintaining a record of format definitions on a client device of the data grid and a corresponding record of format definitions on a server device of the data grid. The client device may serialize one or more objects for storage in the data grid based on respective format definitions associated with the one or more objects and retrieved from the record of format definitions maintained on the client device. Abstract: An improved approach is described for handling parallelization of window functions, particularly window functions that do not contain partition keys or which has low cardinality for the partition keys. The approach is highly scalable and can be used to greatly improve query processing. A two stage evaluation approach is employed to parallelize the processing of window functions. In the first stage, which is highly parallel, the majority of the computation of window function is done by all available processes. In this way, the entire computing power of the database server is utilized. The second stage, which is serial but is likely to be very short, all processes involved in first stage synchronize and complete the window function evaluation.

Files to be stored on the one or more storage media are classified into a ranking of different sets. For example, files that have a higher classification are stored in regions with faster retrieval values. The files can be classified based on frequency of access. Thus, files that are more frequently accessed are stored in regions that have a faster retrieval value. The files can be classified by another measure such as priority. In one embodiment, a distributed processing system comprises a plurality of compute nodes. The compute nodes are assembled into compute groups and configured such that each compute group has an attached or local storage system. Various data segments of the distributed data set are stored in data storage objects on the local storage system. The data storage objects are cross-mapped into each of the compute nodes in the compute group so that any compute node in the group can access any of the data segments stored in the local storage system via the respective data storage object.

Abstract: A method for creating a hidden text data index for ranking computerized query search results that includes generating a render tree based on a document object model (DOM) tree for a web page. The method includes comparing nodes corresponding to text of the DOM tree with the nodes corresponding to text of the render tree to identify the nodes in the DOM tree that will not be visually displayed when executed by the client device. Abstract: The present invention includes systems and methods for retrieving information via a flexible and consistent targeted search model that employs interactive multi-prefix, multi-tier and dynamic menu information retrieval techniques that provide context-specific functionality tailored to particular information channels, as well as to records within or across such channels, and other known state information. Users are presented with a consistent search interface among multiple tiers across and within a large domain of information sources, and need not learn different or special search syntax.
