Abstract: A non-standard and standard clause detection system imports raw input data or contractual documents, and extracts non-standard and standard clauses that are semantically linked. One embodiment of a disclosed configuration is a system and a method for identifying non-standard and standard clauses in contractual documents. The system and the method comprise of generating a primary policy and a secondary policy, obtaining a first feature data set by applying the primary policy to a semantic language evaluator, and obtaining a second feature data set by applying the secondary policy to the semantic language evaluator. The first feature data set obtained is the aggregation of the standard clauses used in the document. Furthermore, the second feature data set encompasses the first feature data set, thus the difference between the first feature data set and the second feature data set is the aggregation of the non-standard clauses.

Abstract: In a searching device, an extractor extracts extracted documents, each of which contains a desired search string, from a plurality of document groups each including a plurality of documents. A preference determiner determines an output preference for each of the extracted documents in accordance with a predetermined rule. A group determiner determines, in sequence for each of the plurality of document groups, whether or not the document group is a determined group which contains one or more satisfying documents among extracted documents satisfying a predetermined output condition. And, an outputter outputs, in sequence for each of the plurality of the determined groups, a predetermined number of the satisfying documents contained in the determined group.

Abstract: Provided are a network device, a controller for controlling at least one network device constituting a software-defined network (SDN), and a network control system. The network control system includes at least one event processing network connected to a central server. The central server is configured to give each of the event processing network an event condition and an instruction describing an operation according to the event condition, and each of the event processing network is configured to analyze sensor data of the event processing network itself or a message received from a surrounding event processing network on the basis of the instruction given by the central server, and perform the operation according to the event condition when the event condition is satisfied.

Abstract: Techniques for a system capable of performing low-latency database query processing are disclosed herein. The system includes a gateway server and a plurality of worker nodes. The gateway server is configured to divide a database query, for a database containing data stored in a distributed storage cluster having a plurality of data nodes, into a plurality of partial queries and construct a query result based on a plurality of intermediate results. Each worker node of the plurality of worker nodes is configured to process a respective partial query of the plurality of partial queries by scanning data related to the respective partial query that stored on at least one data node of the distributed storage cluster and generate an intermediate result of the plurality of intermediate results that is stored in a memory of that worker node.

Abstract: A wireless communication device (WCD) may receive a communication from an initiating party. The communication may be associated with a communication application, and may include a communication-application identifier that identifies the initiating party. The WCD may check whether a contacts list for the WCD contains user name data associated in the contacts list with the communication-application identifier. Upon determining that the contacts list does not contain such user name data, the WCD may querying a network server (NS) to request user name data associated with the communication-application identifier, receive from the NS a reply containing particular name data associated with the communication-application identifier along with additional communication-application user identifiers, each of which is also associated with the particular name data.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for obtaining selected metadata from a user device. The user device has a metadata engine that stores and accesses metadata in response to a metadata query. A metadata broker verifies the authenticity of the metadata query from a service provider and returns selected metadata if the service provider has rights to obtain the metadata. The user device has a communications interface that sends a service request that is indicative of the selected service over a communications channel and receives the metadata request that is indicative of the selected metadata. An authorization center receives a metadata request from a service provider, accesses a rule set to determine selected metadata in accordance with predetermined rights, and returns a signed metadata request to the service provider. The signed metadata request has an electronic signature of an authorizing party and is indicative of the selected metadata.

Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, a method of a distributed database system includes the step receiving a query in a query language from a client with a distributed database system. An index that matches the query is located. The index is pre-generated from a database table in the distributed database system. A map function of a MapReduce programming model is implemented using the index. A reduce function of the MapReduce programming model is implemented using the output of the map function. Optionally, a finalize function can be implemented using the output of the reduce function. The distributed database system can be a scalable NoSQL database. The reduce function can be optional when the value of the output of the map function is guaranteed to be unique.

Abstract: Within a social network, users may submit various types of messages, such as personal messages to other users and status messages to be shared with all associated users. While these messages often relate to highly personal information such as opinions and personal emotions, such messages may also comprise one or more facts about a particular topic, such as a report of a weather condition in a particular location at a particular time. These facts may be identified in various messages, and may be stored in a fact store, such that when a user submits a query specifying a topic may receive from the fact store one or more facts that are responsive to the topic of the query. Additionally, user interfaces may be devised and provided to users submitting such messages, e.g., in order to reduce ambiguity and improve the reliable extraction of facts from messages.

A document content updater is configured to determine a web-based source for a section of content that is contained in an electronic document. The document content updater is further configured to determine for the section of content an update that is included in a copy of the web-based source contained in web-content downloaded by a web crawler. The document content updater is further configured to provide the determined update to be included in the electronic document.

Abstract: Account information associated with a mobile device is obtained through a mobile wireless communication network from a database of subscriber account records for mobile wireless communication service subscribers. The account information may identify the previous mobile device, the mobile device, and/or length of usage of the mobile device. Advice information is selected from a database of advice regarding operation of the mobile devices such that the selected advice information is adapted for the account, and the selected advice information is then provided via a user interface element of the mobile device. Additionally, multiple levels of search related phrases, in which the phrases at each level correspond to a user-selected phrase at the previous level, are presented via a user element of a mobile device.

In one embodiment, an example of a process for search metadata includes, hut is not limited to, in response to a search query for metadata stored in one or more of metadata stores, the search query is partitioned into multiple search query segments. Thereafter, searches corresponding to the search query segments are performed, where each search is performed independently within the one or more metadata stores. Abstract: A computer program product and apparatus are disclosed for managing task data. A task identifier that identifies a task is sent from a task processing portlet to a mapping engine, and then to a process server. A task type is identified by the process server based on the task identifier. The task type is sent from the process server to the mapping engine, which uses a mapping entry database that includes mapping entries to identify a set of queries and a set of data sources that are mapped to the task type. Data received from the set of data sources is aggregated in response to the set of queries to form aggregated data. The aggregated data is used by the human user to complete the selected task. The mapping entry is changed at runtime by changing the set of data sources that are mapped to the task type.

Abstract: Computer-storage media, methods, and systems for formatting and surfacing a badge are provided. The badge represents a graphical region presented in visual association with a search result on a web-results page. The format of the badge is initially dictated by a template that is automatically generated. Upon collecting performance information, a website owner is granted permission to alter the template and appearance of the badge, via a publisher portal. During interaction with the publisher portal, the website owner is prompted to provide feedback in order to manage parameters of the badge, such as uploading a visual representation of a logo, trademark, or other branded element, or specifying a type of metadata to be imported to the graphical region. Accordingly, the badge operates to improve a users' ability to distinguish between search results on the web-results page and assists users in confidently deciding upon and selecting a relevant search result.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are described herein for providing media content sharing. The concepts and technologies disclosed herein can be employed to share media content with a social network, even for content subject to access control mechanisms and/or copyright laws. According to various embodiments disclosed herein, media content can be shared with a social network, or the like. An application running at or in conjunction with a computer can obtain information relating to media content displayed at or accessible to the computer, format the data, and transmit the data to a social networking site or other location in a format appropriate for the site. Contents and technologies for viewing the shared content also are disclosed.

Abstract: Syndication feeds for peer computer devices. In one aspect, a request is received at a server for a syndicated feed from a peer on a peer-to-peer network. It is determined whether the peer is currently online or offline; if online, the requested feed is pulled from the peer and served to the requestor, and if offline, the requested feed is retrieved from a cache of the server and served to the requestor. In one embodiment, an online/offline indicator is inserted in a feed by the server to indicate to the user the online or offline status.

Abstract: A methodology is disclosed for improving searches of a distributed Internet network. A distributed Internet network is searched for a particular information type, searching for a field identified using a predetermined identifier indicating that the field comprises information of the particular information type. When the field identified using the predetermined identifier is found, an association of the contents of the field with the search results is made, and repeated using the same predetermined identifier. Information of a particular information type may then be served in a field identified using a predetermined identifier that identifies the field as containing information of the particular information type.

Abstract: A continuous query result estimator for use in a data stream management system. The data stream management system configured to execute a continuous query against data items received via at least one input data stream to generate at least one output data stream. The continuous query result estimator comprises a classification module configured to classify a set of at least one data item received via the at least one input data stream into one of a plurality of input data groups. A data store configured to store a respective rule for estimating a result of executing the continuous query against a data item belonging to the input data group. The continuous query result estimator also includes a result estimation module configured to select a rule from the rules stored in the data store on the basis of the classification performed by the classification module.

Abstract: A database server receives a data request from a client. In response to the data request, the database server selects, from a database, actual data that satisfies criteria specified by the data request. The database server retrieves the selected actual data from the database. Also in response to the data request, the database server redacts the retrieved data in real time without modifying the actual data contained within the database. This may be accomplished by the prior insertion of masking operators into a top SELECT clause of a query representation generated during semantic analysis. The database server returns the redacted data to the client as a reply to the data request.

Abstract: A dialogical information search system is realized by comprehensively utilizing different kinds of ontologies: a library classification system and a Wikipedia category. A new information search infrastructure is thus realized by comprehensively utilizing the different ontologies of library classification system and Wikipedia category. By virtue of this, a new information search paradigm can be promoted to the world: an in-depth search is realized by utilizing a library with the Web as a clue. This, as a result, contributes to improving literacy of the whole society, and conduces to rediscovering the significance of existence of libraries and further to realizing electronic libraries.

Abstract: A recipient node of a multi-node data partitioning landscape can receive, directly from a requesting machine without being handled by a master node, a first data request related to a table. A target node of a plurality of processing nodes can be identified to handle the data request. The determining can include the recipient node applying partitioning information to determine a target data partition of the plurality of data partitions to which the data request should be directed and mapping information associating each data partition of the plurality of data partitions with an assigned node of the plurality of processing nodes. The recipient node can redirect the data request to the target node so that the target node can act on the target data partition in response to the data request.

Abstract: Techniques for optimizing a software application include receiving, at a local computing system, a query from an application for data stored on a database table, the query including a context defined by a name of the database table; comparing the context of the query to a context of a predefined query scenario; based on the context of the query matching the context of the predefined query scenario, retrieving data stored on a secondary database replicated from data stored on a main database; and passing the retrieved data from the secondary database to the application.

Abstract: Documents written using a markup language such as XML may be decomposed into Path and Parent Associated Node (PPAN) elements, each of which is a linear data structure that includes the content of a node, the parent-child relationship of the node, and the path level of the node. A number of PPAN elements may be grouped together to form A PPAN chain. A PPAN matching process uses the PPAN elements/PPAN chain to search for structured documents that match the PPAN chain. The PPAN matching process is able to perform query and match at the same time to accelerate the PPAN matching process, and also enables complex services to be represented by generic structured documents. Optionally, the PPAN matching process may support wildcard requests so that services may be discovered without prior knowledge of the services.

Abstract: In general, techniques are described for an RDF (Resource Description Framework) database system which can scale to huge size for realistic data sets of practical interest. In some examples, a database system includes a Resource Description Framework (RDF) database that stores a plurality of data chunks to one or more storage drives, wherein each of the plurality of data chunks includes a plurality of triples of the RDF database. The database system also includes a working memory, a query interface that receives a query for the RDF database, a SPARQL engine that identifies a subset of the data chunks relevant to the query, and an index interface that includes one or more bulk loaders that load the subset of the data chunks to the working memory. The SPARQL engine executes the query only against triples included within the loaded subset of the data chunks to obtain a query result.

Abstract: A system and a method for sharing online storage services among multiple users are provided. The system includes a user communication interface, a file processing module, and an online storage communication interface. The user communication interface is configured to connect to a client end corresponding to a first user. When the user communication interface receives a file upload request and a corresponding upload file from the client end, the file processing module searches for a personal online storage of the first user and a shared online storage of at least one related user of the first user and determines to upload the upload file to a partial online storage of the personal online storage and the shared online storage. The online storage communication interface transfers the upload file to the partial online storage determined by the file processing module.

Abstract: A method and system for providing a rapid access data aggregation information source having a single contact portal for multiple information resources that supports law enforcement/emergency response (LE/ER) agencies in order to provide the access to data elements (both constant and transient) belonging to mobile entities, including but not limited to vehicles such as cars, trucks, tractors, buses, motorcycles, boats, airplanes, RVs and others. A focal intention of the data aggregation system is to provide rapid response support through a single contact point for information delivery to LE/ER agencies in the shortest possible time.

Abstract: Concepts and technologies are disclosed herein for managing a distributed database. A data management application can obtain a query. The data management application can analyze the query to determine a number of data structures relevant to the query. The data management application also can analyze data stores storing the data structures and move or assign data structures to other data stores within a distributed database. The movement of the data structures within the distributed database can be based upon greedy algorithms for moving data and/or executing queries.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing distributed data using any of a plurality of data models are disclosed. One method includes receiving a data request from one of a plurality of database interfaces, each database interface associated with a different data model type. The method further includes translating the data request to a second data request based at least in part on a data model neutral description of a data model in the data store that is associated with data and the database interface, wherein the data store maintains descriptions of each of a plurality of different data models corresponding to the different data model types. The method also includes executing the second data request, thereby reflecting the data request in data storage such that data is managed consistently across each of the plurality of database interfaces.

Abstract: A method, system, and processor-readable storage medium are directed towards generating a report derived from data, such as event data, stored on a plurality of distributed nodes. In one embodiment the analysis is generated using a “divide and conquer” algorithm, such that each distributed node analyzes locally stored event data while an aggregating node combines these analysis results to generate the report. In one embodiment, each distributed node also transmits a list of event data references associated with the analysis result to the aggregating node. The aggregating node may then generate a global ordered list of data references based on the list of event data references received from each distributed node. Subsequently, in response to a user selection of a range of global event data, the report may dynamically retrieve event data from one or more distributed nodes for display according to the global order.

The Accident information aggregation and management method includes receiving an accident information from a first server, wherein the accident information includes a time information and a position information for an accident; searching whether any event data that is nearby the time information and the position information can be found in a database; if so, obtaining at least one witness information and evidence data source according to the found issue data; and providing the at least one witness information and evidence data source to the first server such that the first server can use the at least one witness information and evidence data source for further accident investigation.

Abstract: A system and method for matching candidates with personnel needs is provided. The system accepts both candidate attributes and personnel need attributes. At least one algorithm is utilized to match candidates with personnel needs. Feedback is solicited from both candidates and personnel searchers at various stages throughout a matching process. Based on this feedback, the system may modify at least one algorithm, and/or, in a system that utilizes a plurality of algorithms, modify at least one weight given to the results of at least one of the algorithms. The candidate attributes and personnel need attributes are also modified based on the feedback. Revised candidate lists and/or personnel need lists are provided based on the revised algorithms.

According to one aspect of the invention, a method is disclosed for evaluating a query over a tree having a plurality of fragments distributed over a plurality of sites. The method comprises the steps of identifying the plurality of sites storing at least one of the plurality of fragments of the tree; providing the query to the plurality of identified sites, wherein each of the identified sites partially evaluates the query against one of more fragments of the tree stored by the respective site; obtaining partial results from the plurality of identified sites; and composing the partial results to compute a result to the query. The query may be, for example, a boolean XPath query. The method can be performed, for example, by a coordinating site that stores a root fragment of the tree.

The data storage method includes: receiving a storage request containing a uniform resource locator (URL) for a storage operation; acquiring the URL in the storage request; determining whether a URL schema corresponding to the URL is in a storage, the URL schema corresponding to different URLs for a same file under a same domain name; when the URL schema is in the storage, completing the storage operation without storing the URL; when the URL schema is not in the storage, determining a hash value of a file corresponding to the URL and a hash value of the URL schema, and storing mapping relationship information between the file hash value and the URL schema hash value in the URL index database. The storage resource usage of the URL index database is reduced.

Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a system and related method for scanning active instances of an application within a system. Unique identifiers in the form of fingerprints, tags, or metadata can be associated with a target application. A manager can then scan the process tables and file system directories of the servers within the system to find active processes and stored files that include the unique identifier. In some embodiments, the manager scans the active processes while they are running to search for the unique ID within the process' command line structure. In some embodiments, the manager also finds processes or files that do not have the unique identifier, but were previously associated with the unique identifier. The manager can then report the server and application information to user. Such information can include which of the one or more servers has the target application as an active process.

Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a system and related method for retrieving configuration information of a computer network. Unique identifiers in the form of fingerprints, tags, or metadata can be associated with a target application. A manager can scan process tables and file system directories of servers within the system to find processes and files that include the unique identifier. The manager can save the server and application information in a configuration database that can subsequently be searched. Such information can include which of the one or more servers has the target application as an active process.

Abstract: Representative embodiments of a distributed processing method of facilitating interactive analytics of streaming data records by receiving the data records at a plurality of distributed computational nodes, establishing and storing dimensions corresponding to attributes of the data records, parsing the streaming data records to identify matches to at least one of the dimensions and based thereon, reducing the number of data records to create a targeted subset of the data, re-distributing the targeted subsets of the streaming data records among the distributed computational nodes in accordance with the dimensions stored on the nodes, updating a database storing measures of the dimensions in accordance with the targeted subsets of the streaming data records, and using the database to respond to a query based on measures associated with one or more of the dimensions.

Abstract: Data can be processed in parallel across a cluster of nodes using a parallel processing framework. Using Web services calls between components allows the number of nodes to be scaled as necessary, and allows developers to build applications on the framework using a Web services interface. A job scheduler works together with a queuing service to distribute jobs to nodes as the nodes have capacity, such that jobs can be performed in parallel as quickly as the nodes are able to process the jobs. Data can be loaded efficiently across the cluster, and levels of nodes can be determined dynamically to process queries and other requests on the system.

Abstract: A method of determining popularity of an e-mail is provided. The method includes receiving an e-mail and determining if a generated signature is associated with the e-mail. If there is no generated signature, then a signature is generated for associating with the e-mail. A popularity measure associated with the e-mail is determined based on the signature. Furthermore, a method of determining popularity of an e-mail is provided. The method includes receiving an e-mail and identifying a generated signature associated with the e-mail. The method further includes determining a match of the associated generated signature with a record of the generated signature, if the generated signature is identified. If the identified generated signature is determined to match the record of the generated signature, then a popularity measure associated with the e-mail is increased.
