Abstract: A system for intermediated communication between applications running on the same computer is presented. The system routes communication between a first application and a second application through a data broker on a remote server to avoid direct communication between the applications. The first application may be a desktop application, such as a word processing application, that has an add-in installed to facilitate communication through the data broker. The second application may be a web browser that includes a web client implemented using standard functionality of the web browser, without an application-specific plug-in. The data broker operates on a remote server to receive and direct communication between the applications. By eliminating direct communication between the applications, the data broker improves system security and reliability by utilizing communication protocols and capabilities already existing within the computer.

Abstract: Method, system, and programs for intent-based search assistance are disclosed. Intent information associated with a query entered by a user is first collected. The intent information includes one or more intents. The collected intent information is then associated with annotation information to generate annotated intent information for the query. In response to the user entering the query, a query suggestion is determined from a plurality of query suggestions. Content is then provided to the user at real-time based on the determined query suggestion and the annotated intent information for the query.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method executable by a server system to establish suggested queries is provided. Key phrases are automatically identified in documents of a document corpus, and a forward index and inverted index are generated. Key phrases in the retrieved documents are identified via the forward index, and a subset of the key phrases are selected as query suggestions by determining coverage of the key phrases as identified in the inverted index.

The query system then presents to the user the identified features as suggestions to include in the partial query.

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method of providing suggested terms. The method includes: receiving an initial query input from a user, and obtaining corresponding suggested queries based on the initial query; determining at least two categories corresponding to the suggested queries and at least two clickable regions usable for looking up the suggested queries; separately determining a category weight associated with each obtained category in each clickable region for the suggested queries, and a click attribute weight associated with each clickable region; computing a degree of confidence of each category for the suggested queries; and separately determining target categories for the suggested queries based on the degree of confidence of each category for the suggested queries. As such, the user may quickly identify his/her search intention based on the target categories corresponding to the suggested queries, thereby effectively improving the speed of information searching.

Abstract: Methods and arrangements for providing interactive query suggestions. A partial user query phrase is received, the partial query phrase comprising a final word element. A vocabulary is accessed and, from the vocabulary, at least one possible completion of the final word element is ascertained. A phrase index is accessed and, from the phrase index, at least two phrases corresponding to completions of the partial user query phrase with the at least one possible completion of the final word element are ascertained. A probability score is assigned to each of the at least two phrases, and the at least two phrases are ranked based on probability.

Abstract: The present invention provides a computer processing method and a system thereof for searching. The computer processing method includes: receiving a first keyword; performing search using the first keyword to obtain a first search result; receiving user evaluation of the first search result; in response to the evaluation being unsatisfactory, searching for associated keywords from a keyword data source based on the first keyword; recommending associated keywords to the user according to matching degrees of the associated keywords and the first keyword; and in response to that the user selects an associated keyword from the recommended associated keywords, performing search based on the associated keyword selected by the user. Initially, a first set of media files that have previously been determined to be related to the selected media file is identified. It is determined that the number of media files in the first set of media files does not exceed a minimum number. A query is constructed based on the title or description of the selected media file to locate more related media files. A media database is searched and the results are combined with the first set of media files to be displayed.

Abstract: A system receives a search query, determines whether the received search query includes an entity name, and determines whether the entity name is associated with a common word or phrase. When the entity name is associated with a common word or phrase, the system generates a link to a rewritten query, performs a search based on the received search query to obtain first search results, and provides the first search results and the link to the rewritten query. When the entity name is not associated with a common word or phrase, the system rewrites the received search query to include a restrict identifier associated with the entity name, generates a link to the received search query, performs a search based on the rewritten search query to obtain second search results, and provides the second search results and the link to the received search query.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a system for providing a multifunctional search window (search box) service, and more specifically, to a method and a system which can provide a multifunctional search window service for offering search and shortcut services based on various search rules and shortcuts that are generated by users, and suggest recommended search words and recommended search rules when a certain query is inputted. When users issue search queries, the localities of the users who issue those search queries are associated with the search queries. The users may be grouped into populations, such that each population has a locality that corresponds to the localities of the users in that population. If a node is reached that is flagged as a node for a word or a word fragment and, and if the target string is longer than the gathered string, the method loops back to the root node, and continues the traverse from the root node.

Abstract: To provide a conversion program search system that can increase the reusability of conversion programs as well as can find a solution to a data connection problem in a short time. A first-signature generation means 71 generates a first signature indicating, in a binary manner, whether one piece of data meets each of predetermined multiple description formats. A second-signature generation means 72 generates a second signature of a conversion program, based on the difference between the first signatures of conversion-source data and post-conversion data. Abstract: A method for processing query information includes receiving a partial search query from a search requestor, and obtaining a set of predicted complete queries corresponding to the partial search query from a plurality of previously submitted complete queries, the previously submitted complete queries submitted by a community of users. The set of predicted complete queries include both English language and Korean language complete search queries. The set of predicted complete queries are ordered in accordance with ranking criteria, and at least a subset of the ordered set is sent to the search requestor. The partial search query may be a Romanized representation of a partial Korean language search query.

Abstract: An apparatus and method modify a saved query based on a change in a query value meaning that changes over time. In preferred embodiments a graphical query interface displays an option to adjust query values of a saved database query. A query adjustment mechanism then adjusts the value of the query to compensate for the change in the meaning of the query value since the query was created such that the adjusted query will have the same basic meaning as when the query was originally created. Preferred Embodiments allow the user to specify to adjust the query to the current date or to a specified date in the past.

The context manager is operable to issue multimodal document management instructions to the virtual media content management system to process digital content selected by the stylus based on input information from the input system.

Abstract: Word recommendations are provided in response to text input. For a particular text input, possible word recommendations are identified based on the characters of the input and corresponding neighbor characters on a keyboard layout. The possible word recommendations are scored based on how closely they match the input word on a character-by-character basis, and a subset of the possible word recommendations are selected for presentation to the user.
