The method further includes, detecting a web page in the website in which a tag of the set of tags is identified, extracting a pattern from a Universal Resource Locator (URL) of the web page, and/or storing the pattern in a database embodied in a machine-readable storage medium as being mapped to the semantic type. The sets of scores are used to select a candidate item to be presented to the end user.

Context search is also provided for a user, wherein a list of search of results is ranked according to the relevance score of content object associated with the search results. The method includes querying a multimedia collection with a first component of a multimedia query (e.g., a text-based part of the query) to generate first comparison measures between the first component of the query and respective objects in the collection for a first media type (e.g., text). The multimedia collection is queried with a second component of the multimedia query (e.g., an image-based part of the query) to generate second comparison measures between the second component of the query and respective objects in the collection for a second media type (e.g., visual). Based on the accuracy score being greater than or equal to the predetermined accuracy threshold value, a determination is made that the first content item and the second content item are a match. Abstract: Various aspects and embodiments of the present invention relate to providing a medical application with access to medical information from validated medical information experts. The medical information experts can be validated by scoring attributes of a purported medical information expert, generating a rank based on the score, and comparing the score to a pre-set threshold. The medical information from validated medical information experts can be stored in a knowledge database. A request from a medical application can be received and used to search the knowledge database to generate a response to the request that includes part of the medical information. The response can be provided to the medical application in a format that can be customized by the medical application.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media are provided for interleaving multiple sets of blended search results to identify a preferred set of blended search results for a search query or for a category of search queries. A search query is received and routed to multiple ranking systems, which return search results that are blended into sets of blended search results. Interleaving experiments are performed to determined, based on user preferences, which set of blended search results are preferred for that particular search query. Based on the outcome, a preferred blending algorithm is identified.

Abstract: A supervised technique uses relevance judgments to train a dependency parser such that it approximately optimizes Normalized Discounted Cumulative Gain (NDCG) in information retrieval. A weighted tree edit distance between the parse tree for a query and the parse tree for a document is added to a ranking function, where the edit distance weights are parameters from the parser. Using parser parameters in the ranking function enables approximate optimization of the parser's parameters for NDCG by adding some constraints to the objective function.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media are provided for improving the efficiency of the interleaving process. Once it is determined that a search query is to be used in an interleaving experiment, a primary ranking system and a secondary ranking system are analyzed to determine whether their respective search results for that search query would be identical. The user inputs an identifier of a document at the level of his receiver connected to at least one communication network, and initiates a search request to receive versions of at least one part of this document. A database can store sets of operational data, such as financial, medical, climate or other information. The interpolation engine can generate a conformal interpolation function and interpolated input sets that map to a set of target output data. The operator can access a view or dialog on the set of known (or interpolated) input data to manually select different weights to be applied to one or more variables in the various input sets. In one implementation, a graphical user interface (GUI) is provided, enabling a user to input a query with symptoms determined from a patient, and the system's parser can find instances of the symptoms in a document object model (DOM) tree of the TCM ontological information. Diagnosis based upon the symptoms can be communicated to the user through the GUI. A relevance index (RI) and/or a frequency index (F1) can be further provided for evaluating a diagnosis by comparing the symptoms determined from a patient with the expected symptoms of the diagnosed illness and returning a value based on the number of matched symptoms, or a weighted index of matched symptoms.
