Abstract: A method for clustering a plurality of data items stored in a computer includes calculating, with the computer, a plurality of components comprising kernels based on a distribution that gives similarity between the data items, wherein a non-negative mixture weight is assigned to each of the kernels; preparing a set of active components that are composed of subscripts of the mixture weights; applying operations to the set of active components; and determining whether the mixture weight has converged, and if not converged yet, reapplying the operations to the set of components, and if the mixture weight has converged, clustering the data items based on the mixture weight.

Abstract: A two stage model identifies individuals having knowledge in a subject matter area relevant to a query. A relevance model receives a query and identifies documents, or other information, relevant to the query. A co-occurrence model identifies individuals, in the retrieved documents, related to the subject matter of the query. Individuals identified can be scored by combining scores from the relevance model and the co-occurrence model and output in a rank ordered list.

Abstract: Methods and systems for providing related links are disclosed. In one aspect, a method comprises: retrieving textual information associated with a web page upon loading of the web page at a client; extracting a set of keywords from the received textual information; determining one or more keywords of the set of keywords using a keyword repository that maintains a list of keywords and their respective rankings; sending the one or more keywords as a search query to a search engine to obtain a list of search results ordered by their respective rankings; returning a number of search results with the highest rankings to the client for display on the web page.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for searching data and grouping search results into clusters that are ordered according to search relevance. Each cluster comprises one or more data type, such as images, web pages, local information, news, advertisements, and the like. In one embodiment, a search term is evaluated for related concepts indicating categories of data sources to search. Data sources may also be identified by context information such as a location of a client device, a currently running application, and the like. Search results in each cluster are ordered by relevance and each cluster is given a score based on an aggregate of the relevance within the cluster. Each cluster score may be modified based on one or more corresponding concepts and/or context information. The clusters are ordered based on the modified scores. Content, including advertisements, may also be added to the ordered list to appear as another cluster.

One or more objects are assigned to content associated with an enterprise system. One or more query terms are received from a user. An overall relevance of the one or more objects is established based on the ratings.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method and system called “Universal Learner (UL),” which provides a unified framework to understand multimedia signals. The UL utilizes the loosely annotated multimedia data on the Web, analyses it in various signal domains, such as text, image, audio and combinations thereof, and builds an association graph called the “Multimedia Brain,” which basically comprises visual signals, audio signals, text phrases and the like that capture a multitude of objects, experiences and their attributes and the links among them that capture similar intent or functional and contextual relationships.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, by a computer having a computer processor, of identifying emerging risks of agents causing harms to a particular system comprises accessing, via a computer network, an electronic document database comprising document data; inputting a set of criteria, which includes a selected set of agents and a selected set of harms to a particular system, specified by a user; extracting a subset of the document data that satisfies the set of criteria; generating, with the processor, an array containing agent-harm coincidences from the extracted subset of the document data; assessing, with the processor, statistical significance of each agent-harm coincidence relative to other agent-harm coincidences; compiling, with the processor, risk data, based on the statistical significance, of agents of the selected set of agents causing harms of the selected set of harms to the particular system; and outputting the risk data.

Relevant phrases may be ranked so that matches of particular phrases in a subject query and stored response may be given more weight in determining a relevance of a stored response. Abstract: A content recommendation system and method are provided in which content semantic topic analysis, user interest identification and per interest recommendations are used to deliver relevant and diversified content recommendations to the user. Semantic topic analysis is used to infer underlying topics in content items; for each content item, a topic distribution vector is derived with components that represent relevance of the content item to specific underlying topics. A user's long term and short term user interests are identified using the user's browsing history. Long term user interest(s) can be obtained by a weighted aggregation of topic distribution vectors of content items the user accessed. Short term interest can be represented by the topic distribution vector corresponding to a current content item. Using identified user's interests, relevant content items are selected for recommendations for the user.

An input is received from a user indicating an opinion of another user or plurality of other users. In one embodiment, reputation scores are weighted by the reputation scores of voters. In another embodiment, weights are derived from voter reputation scores in the domain in which the voting took place. In another embodiment, reputation scores are adjusted according to a plurality of factors, including, but not limited to, user demographics or user behavior.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating matchcode scores for a record. In one example, a record is received that includes one or more fields, each field having an associated field type. One or more alternative forms of the record are generated based on variations of the one or more fields of the record. A frequency score is identifying, from stored frequency information, for each variation of the one or more fields of the record, wherein each frequency score relates to a frequency of use for a text string included in a field. Using the frequency scores, overall scores are generated for the record and the one or more alternative forms of the record.

The first search results satisfy a search query directed to the first search engine and are presented in an order. Abstract: Queries applied to content sets (e.g., files in a filesystem) often produce search results including many content items having identifiers that match the keywords of the query. However, many search techniques do not account for the relevance of the matching, e.g., whether the match is predictably relevant to the user, or whether the content item only tangentially matches the query. The techniques presented herein involve indexing the content items in a content index according to various identifiers having an identifier weight indicating the predicted relevance if a token of a query matches the identifier. Candidate content items may then be presented as search results sorted by the aggregated identifier weights of the matching identifiers, thereby promoting highly relevant content items and demoting incidentally matching content items. Additional adjustments may be made (e.g., promoting content items that match a particularly infrequent token or that match a phrase in the query).
