Abstract: Degrees of association between categories of songs (hereinafter, song categories) corresponding to information showing advertisement distribution target categories and distribution object advertisements are determined in advance in an advertisement DB. A song categorization module calculates degrees of association between an acoustic feature amount of a song being played (hereinafter, current song) and feature amounts of the song categories, and a song-related distribution object advertisement candidate group extraction module determines a distribution object advertisement corresponding to a song category with a high degree of association is determined as a distribution object advertisement. An advertisement presentation module provides information on the distribution object advertisement to a user along with current song information.

Abstract: Methods and systems generate deep metadata associated with media content. The deep metadata may be used, for example, by media content recommendation systems. In one embodiment, a database includes a plurality of media files that are each associated with respective data models and metadata sets. A new media file is categorized by microgenre and automatically analyzed to generate a new data model. The new data model is compared to the database to determine a particular data model stored therein that satisfies a similarity threshold. In one embodiment, the comparison is limited to data models that are associated with the same microgenre as that of the new media file. A set of metadata associated with the particular data model stored in the database is then assigned to the new media file. In an example embodiment, the new media file is an audio file and the database is a music database.

Abstract: The present invention provides an integrated multimedia file format structure, and a multimedia service system based on the integrated multimedia format structure. The multimedia service system in accordance with the present invention, unlike the conventional multimedia service system for providing only audio data and simple text information related thereto, produces integrated contents containing compressed audio data, image data, text data, contents protection metadata and license metadata, which enables providing of a multimedia service by using the integrated contents having an integrated multimedia file format structure.

Abstract: A repository receives metadata from databases associated with different service providers. The repository converts the received metadata to a common format, such as MPEG7, and stores the converted metadata in a central database. The repository can also receive a query from a client device. The repository retrieves metadata associated with the query from the central database and provides it to the requesting client device. The repository can also convert the provided metadata to an appropriate format for the requesting device. Because the metadata is stored at a common location in a common format, content from different providers can be efficiently identified.

Abstract: A system and method for searching content. The method comprises receiving from a first user metadata relating to generating a guide for content. A guide is generated relating to the content. The guide facilitates navigation of the content on a device. The metadata is forwarded to a metadata analyzer where the metadata is processed to produce processed metadata. The processed metadata is forwarded to an index server. An index is generated for the content based on the metadata at the index server. A query is received from a second user, the index is searched and a result is forwarded to the second user in response to the query. The result includes at least a uniform resource identifier relating to at least some of content. The second user may add additional metadata relating to the content.

Abstract: A hand-held music player for use in conjunction with radios, including a casing, a receiver socket on the casing through which digital audio data is received, a digital-to-analog audio converter housed within the casing, a first transfer socket on the casing through which a song is transferred to a radio transmitter, a second transfer socket on the casing through which meta-data for the song is transferred to the radio transmitter, and a dial on the casing for selecting a song for playback. A method and a computer-readable storage medium are also described.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for on-the-fly playlist shuffling. There can be multiple ways to perform the shuffling. In one instance, the electronic device can organize a new playlist by sorting the media files based on a parameter. In another instance, the electronic device can organize a new playlist by shuffling the media files. In yet another instance, the electronic device can first sort the media files into groups of media files based on a parameter. The electronic device can then shuffle the media files within each group. In this manner, the media files can be randomized but only within each group. In all instances, the current media file can continue to play without any interruption. Finally, the electronic device can sort the media files based on the context of the media file that is currently playing.

Abstract: Storing audio data encoded in any of a plurality of different audio encoding formats is enabled by parametrically defining the underlying format in which the audio data is encoded, in audio format and packet table chunks. A flag can be used to manage storage of the size of the audio data portion of the file, such that premature termination of an audio recording session does not result in an unreadable corrupted file. This capability can be enabled by initially setting the flag to a value that does not correspond to a valid audio data size and that indicates that the last chunk in the file contains the audio data. State information for the audio data, to effectively denote a version of the file, and a dependency indicator for dependent metadata, may be maintained, where the dependency indicator indicates the state of the audio data on which the metadata is dependent.

Abstract: Briefly, the present invention provides electronic methods and apparatus for storing and organizing access restricted multimedia objects. This is accomplished using semantic networks by interactively defining a semantic network, identifying a relationship between nodes by associating a label with each semantic link, attaching multimedia objects to nodes and restricting user access to multimedia objects and/or the semantic network. The method allows users to access and edit the semantic network in a Java-based platform-independent software environment. The present invention further provides a method for multiple users to collaboratively store and organize multimedia objects by providing a shared view via a network while defining the semantic network, identifying the relationship between nodes, and attaching multimedia objects to nodes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method and a computer program product for transferring media content via network. The system includes a content provider (210) and at least one client device (280) and a network connection (290) configured between them, and also a database (220) for storing the media content. The content provider (210) is configured to receive a request (from the client device (280), which request identifies the content the client desires. The request is a constant request and the content provider (210) is configured to select the content being transferred dynamically to the client (280).

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for determining files to play is provided. The method includes determining an override file. For example, files may be designated and put into an override queue. A point in the playlist of files currently being played on a device is determined. This is a point in which the override file should be played. The playing of the playlist of files is then interrupted at the determined point and the override file is played. After the override file is played, the playing of the playlist of files is automatically resumed. The play may be resumed substantially at a point where playing of the playlist would have continued had it not been stopped. Accordingly, a playlist may be overridden without completely exiting out of the playlist or changing the playlist.

Abstract: A multimedia organization and playback system intelligently organizes media objects, such as music files, and plays back their contents. The system considers and analyzes multiple media object attributes to determine groups of similar songs. As a result, the system delivers a consistent selection of media to the listener despite wide variations in media characteristics and without overburdening the listener with complicated configuration input. The listener may play back grouped songs based on the similarities between songs. Successive selections may be more or less similar to a current selection based on the organization of the music objects.

Abstract: The personalized content system of the system combines a summary music identification value creation and identification algorithm that represents a mathematical summary music identification of a song, an audio file, or other relational music criteria and data (e.g title, artist, genre, style, beats per minute, etc.) or any combination thereof. The derived value represents the musical taste or style attributes of a song or style. The user can control the system by issuing one of a plurality of commands comprising artist command, song/title command, genre command, and album/filtered list command. Abstract: A reproducing apparatus for reproducing audio-visual data stored in a storage medium includes a storage unit which stores metadata used to search for desired audio-visual data in the audio-visual data stored in the storage medium, and a search unit which searches for the desired audio-visual data using the metadata stored in the storage unit, wherein the metadata includes a volume identifier indicating a volume comprised of a plurality of discs used to create a disc library stored in the storage unit. The metadata may further include disc information and title information common to the discs, and the search unit may create the disc library using the disc information, the title information, and the volume information, and search for the desired audio-visual data using the created disc library.

Abstract: Methods, computer program products, and systems for providing media sharing services are provided. Embodiments include receiving various media files, such as pictures, videos, and music, for users within a telecommunication environment. The users may send the media files through various communication devices including cellular phones and computing devices. Embodiments allow access to the received media files to the users through the communication devices. Access may be limited to the media files by membership within a group or other access levels associated with a particular media file or a corresponding media folder. Embodiments may also include receiving a media file in a first format from a transferring communication device and converting and sending the media file in a second format that is suitable for a requesting communication device.
