  • Patent number: 11291366
Abstract: A system is configured to label computer vision datasets using eye tracking of users that track objects depicted in imagery to label the datasets. The imagery may include moving images (e.g., video) or still images. By using eye tracking, users may be able to label large amounts of imagery more efficiently than by manually labeling datasets using conventional input devices. A user may be instructed to watch a particular object during a playback of the video while an imaging device determines a direction of the user's gaze which correlates with a location in the imagery. An application may then associate the location in the imagery determined from the user's gaze as a location of the object on a frame-by-frame basis, or for certain frames.

  • Patent number: 10488950
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a system and process that controls a group of networked electronic components using a multimodal integration scheme in which inputs from a speech recognition subsystem, gesture recognition subsystem employing a wireless pointing device and pointing analysis subsystem also employing the pointing device, are combined to determine what component a user wants to control and what control action is desired. In this multimodal integration scheme, the desired action concerning an electronic component is decomposed into a command and a referent pair. The referent can be identified using the pointing device to identify the component by pointing at the component or an object associated with it, by using speech recognition, or both. The command may be specified by pressing a button on the pointing device, by a gesture performed with the pointing device, by a speech recognition event, or by any combination of these inputs.

  • Patent number: 6445364
Abstract: A virtual computer monitor is described which enables instantaneous and intuitive visual access to large amounts of visual data by providing the user with a large display projected virtually in front of the user. The user wears a head-mounted display containing a head-tracker, which together allow the user to position an instantaneous viewport provided by the head-mounted display at any position within the large virtual display by turning to look in the desired direction. The instantaneous viewport further includes a mouse pointer, which may be positioned by turning the user's head, and which may be further positioned using a mouse or analogous control device. A particular advantage of the virtual computer monitor is intuitive access to enlarged computer output for visually-impaired individuals.

Abstract: A touchpad having a plurality of distinct zones, wherein movement of a user's finger on the surface of the touchpad between zones, the act of lifting a finger off of the touchpad surface, the act of placing a finger on the touchpad surface, and the movement of a specific pattern of a finger within a single zone are all actions that will generate characters that are transmitted from the touchpad to a receiving device. A small number of movements of a finger across the touchpad are thus capable of generating a large number of characters for use in a password or code, and thereby take advantage of the security benefits that can be achieved, but without having to memorize the exact password, but only a few movements of a finger or stylus.

  • Patent number: 6415256
Abstract: A computer system with speech recognition system and handwriting recognition system are disclosed that work closely together to improve the total recognition accuracy of each alone. The handwriting recognition system may include a pen/stylus input device and associated program functions. The system or programs may be combined with computer telephony functions to provide intergrated applications having voice output programs, Internet access, e-mail/v-mail and personal information manager functions. The computer system can recognize speaker-dependent and speaker-independent speech, converting this information to computer recognizable text, which may be displayed onto a display device in near realtime. Speech recognition errors may be corrected via a pen input device, and the pen information may be recognized, converted to text and graphics. This data may then be displayed at near realtime or displayed later at a user specified time.
