Abstract: In a network, a user can configure host-level policies usable for load balancing traffic to servers of a domain. A global server load balancing (GSLB) switch provides load balancing to the servers, and is configured with the GSLB host-level policies. Users can define a host-level policy (alternatively or additionally to a globally applied GSLB policy) and apply the host-level policy to hosts in domains configured on the GSLB switch. Thus, the user can enable different policies for different hosts. This allows the user to have the flexibility to control metrics used for selection of a best address for querying clients, as well as the metric order and additional parameters used in the GSLB process, at the host level.

  • Patent number: 7899193
Abstract: A method for synchronizing media reproduction across heterogeneous networks is presented. The networks include end-to-end IP broadband and narrowband simulcast networks that contain broadband and narrowband devices associated with a common communications group. A controller in the networks determines delay times for reproduction of a media stream across devices in the networks and establishes the longest delay time. The longest delay time is used to calculate appropriate transmission and reproduction timestamps to permit the devices to reproduce the provided media stream in synchronization. Narrowband base stations repeat the media stream at the time specified by a transmission timestamp, and broadband end devices reproduce the media stream at the time specified by a reproduction timestamp. By synchronizing the presentation time, the devices present the media at substantially the same time and are granted fair rights to communicate with one another.

Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques of using a hosting device to provide multiple versions of a single web application. As described in detail below, the hosting device stores resources associated with different versions of the web application in different subdirectories. When the hosting device receives a request associated with the web application, the hosting device automatically identifies one of the versions of the web application as an applicable version of the web application. The hosting device rewrites a pathname in the request to include a subdirectory name of the subdirectory that stores the applicable version of the web application. The hosting device then dereferences the resource identified by the rewritten pathname. In this way, the hosting device uses the resources of the applicable version of the web application to process the request.

Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for detecting whether a content executed in a mobile platform of mobile communication terminal perform a communication operation without a user's reservation or permission, thereby preventing an unexpected communication operation. In this invention, if a content performs the communication operation due to its malfunction by a computer virus or a program error, the communication operation, such as voice calling or message transmission to unspecified communication terminal or access to arbitrary wireless internet server, is detected and interrupted. With the interruption of the unexpected communication operation, the user's damage, such as the payment of charges for communication services, is previously prevented. In case of the interruption of the communication operation, the user is informed of the erroneous content and the performed communication operation so that the user selects the corresponding contents to be deleted or preserved.

  • Patent number: 7827308
Abstract: Optical link related wavekey information and other vendor specific information is distributed in a WDM network using an extension of the standard OSPF routing protocol. The extension makes use of a vendor attribute Link State Advertisement (LSA) which is a new type of opaque LSA. The vendor attribute LSAs include a Vendatt Link State Identifier (ID) field in the LSA header, and a Vendatt Type/Length/Value (TLV) structure. The Vendatt TLV includes a Vendatt-type field identifying the TLV as a Vendatt TLV, and an enterprise code field identifying the vendor whose equipment (node or network element) generates vendor attribute LSAs or is able to receive vendor attribute LSAs by the identified vendor. Vendor attribute LSAs of a specific vendor are designed to be ignored by nodes or network elements of other vendors.

Abstract: A method, program and system for transmitting a data stream to a group of recipient nodes from a source node via an intermediate node over a communication network, wherein the data stream is associated with a first unique identifier to identify the content of the data stream. The method includes the source node generating a second identifier, the second identifier distinct from the first unique identifier, and associating the second identifier with the data stream to identify that the data stream is to be received by the group of recipient nodes; transmitting routing information comprising the second identifier to the intermediate node; transmitting the data stream from the source node to the intermediate node; and responsive to receiving the data stream at the intermediate node, reading the second identifier and routing the data stream to the group of recipient nodes in accordance with the routing information.

  • Patent number: 7814193
Abstract: Disclosed methods of achieving load balancing among a plurality of border elements in a next generation networks (NGN) communication network include a method for processing and user endpoint originated messages (UEOM), such as a register or invite message, generated by a user endpoint. A work load information data structure indicative of a first border element's work load and a second border element's work load is maintained when the border elements exchange work load information. Based on the work load information, a first border element responds to a UEOM by either (1) accepting the UEOM for first border element processing, (2) determining whether to accept the UEOM for first border element processing or redirect the UEOM to a second border element for second border element processing, or (3) rejecting the UEOM.

  • Patent number: 7801165
Abstract: In response to a file request from a host 3a, a server 7 retrieves the file from a content provider 2. A group comprising the host 3a is defined and the file sent to the group as a sequence of data packets A-G. Any further hosts 3b, 3c in the same locational area as host 3a that submit a request for the same file during the transmission of the data packet sequence are added to the group and receive the remaining packets in the sequence. At the end of the sequence, the server 7 re-transmits the data packet sequence to hosts 3b, 3c so that they receive the data packets dropped or missed in the original transmission. A host 3b that moves to another location during the transmission submits a NACK message, which is treated by a server 7? associated with the second locational area as a file request.

In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises discovering a utility network, wherein a constant powered meter sends network discovery messages to find the utility network. Neighboring meters are discovered, wherein the constant powered meter sends hello messages periodically. The constant powered meter is registered with the utility network. Further, the battery powered meter finds and associates itself with a constant powered meter. The constant powered meter also registers its associate battery powered meter with the utility network. The constant powered meter sends a node registration message to the gateway of the utility network. The constant powered meter can sense outage problems with the gateway and the neighbors of its network, and search and migrate to an alternate network.
