  • Patent number: 11176073
Abstract: A data processing apparatus includes a power-source controller, a data processing device, a physical-layer section, a communication controller, and a state controller. The power-source controller controls a first power-source setting and a second power-source setting. The second power-source setting causes less electric power consumption than the first power-source setting. The communication controller performs the communication with the data processing device through a predetermined communication path and the physical-layer section under the first power-source setting. The communication controller stops the communication with the data processing device through the communication path and the physical-layer section under the second power-source setting. The state controller maintains the second communication state with respect to the data processing device side of the communication path while electric power supply to the physical-layer section is reduced under the second power-source setting.

  • Patent number: 10628367
Abstract: Examples include techniques for dynamically modifying a platform form factor of a mobile device. In some examples, a system may include a split memory array having a first memory within a docking system and a second memory element within a small form factor (SFF) mobile device. A platform form factor determination component may dynamically select between multiple platform form factors based on a determination that the SFF mobile device is coupled with the docking system. An interface logic component may access the first memory storage of the docking system during a memory (e.g., graphics) computation when the mobile device is physically and electrically/communicably coupled with the docking system to allow the SFF mobile device to have full LFF functionality. When the SFF mobile device is disconnected from the docking system, the interface logic component may access only the second memory storage of the SFF mobile device to provide SFF functionality.

Abstract: The standard hot-plug controller (SHPC) specification may be used to generate PCI messages in a distributed switch to disconnect and/or connect virtual hierarchies of an endpoint from hosts that are connected based on multi-root input/output virtualization (MR-IOV). A management controller may instruct a SHPC to generate a PCI packet that specifies a particular virtual hierarchy to disconnect from a particular host. An upstream port connected to the host and the SHPC receives the PCI packet and uses a header that identifies the virtual endpoint in the packet to index into a routing table to identify a downstream port in the distributed switch that is connected to the endpoint. Once the PCI packet traverses the switch and arrives at the downstream port, the downstream port changes routing logic which logically disconnects the host from the specified virtual hierarchy.

  • Patent number: 8823988
Abstract: An application program may be executed through an Internet protocol (IP) address linkage in an image forming apparatus supporting a peer-to-peer connection. The application program may be executed by performing a method which includes connecting the image forming apparatus to a wireless device through a wireless local area network, driving a soft access point (AP) module of the image forming apparatus so that the image forming apparatus functions as an AP, driving a dynamic host configuration protocol server of the image forming apparatus to allocate a dynamic IP address to the connected wireless device, and linking the dynamic IP address allocated to the wireless device with a static IP address that is preset with respect to the wireless device.

Abstract: A mobile computing device with a mobile operating system and desktop operating system running concurrently and independently on a shared kernel without virtualization. The mobile operating system provides a user experience for the mobile computing device that suits the mobile environment. The desktop operating system provides a full desktop user experience when the mobile computing device is docked to a second user environment. A seamless cross-environment workflow is provided in a multi-operating system computing environment. Two or more application programs, running in independent operating systems, share user interaction state information including user data, user settings, and/or application context information. Interaction state information may be shared for applications that are used primarily to access and edit local user content as well as applications that communicate to a remote server or access and navigate other remote content (i.e., Internet-based application, browser).

  • Patent number: 8781656
Abstract: A vehicular interface may include an electromechanical interface between a handheld electronic device and subsystems on a vehicular bus or network. In selected embodiments the interface may operate in a “master mode” when a handheld device, such as a tablet computer or smart-phone, is not inserted therein. In this mode the interface may serve as a master controller and accesses and controls various subsystems on a vehicle (such as engine control subsystems, media controllers, navigation systems, sensors and transducers) as a master controller. In one embodiment, when a tablet device is inserted into the interface, the interface may automatically switch to “slave mode” in which it acts as an adapter or interface between the tablet device and the vehicular subsystems. In this mode of operation the user's exclusive interface is through the tablet computer and the tablet computer serves as the master controller for the system.
