Patent number: 7870329Abstract: An apparatus and method couples memory devices in a memory module to a memory hub on the module such that signals traveling from the hub to the devices have approximately the same propagation time regardless of which device is involved. Specifically, the devices are arranged around the hub in pairs, with each pair of devices being oriented such that a functional group of signals for each device in the pair, such as the data bus signals, are positioned adjacent each other on a circuit board of the module. This allows for a data and control-address busses having approximately the same electrical characteristics to be routed between the hub and each of the devices. This physical arrangement of devices allows high speed operation of the module. In one example, the hub is located in the center of the module and eight devices, four pairs, are positioned around the hub.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2006Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Micron Technology, Inc.Inventor: Jeffery W. The data I/O circuit transmits and receives data to and from the host apparatus in a data transfer mode. In the write timing adjustment mode, the delay element adjusts a phase of the second clock in accordance with the first clock so as to receive the data received in the data transfer mode in response to the first clock. The adjustment value holding circuit holds an adjustment value for the phase of the second clock adjusted. In the data transfer mode, the delay element adjusts a phase of the data in accordance with the adjustment value.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2007Date of Patent: November 2, 2010Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventor: Akihisa Fujimoto

Publication number: 20100274959Abstract: A computing system is disclosed that includes a memory controller in a processor socket normally reserved for a processor. A plurality of non-volatile memory modules may be plugged into memory sockets normally reserved for DRAM memory modules. The non-volatile memory modules may be accessed using a data communication protocol to access the non-volatile memory modules. The memory controller controls read and write accesses to the non-volatile memory modules. The memory sockets are coupled to the processor socket by printed circuit board traces. The data communication protocol to access the non-volatile memory modules is communicated over the printed circuit board traces and through the sockets normally used to access DRAM type memory modules.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2010Publication date: October 28, 2010Inventors: Vijay Karamcheti, Kumar Ganapathy, Kenneth Alan Okin, Rajesh Parekh

Patent number: 7822912Abstract: A flash storage chip including a single circuit board, a microcontroller, a flash memory, and a peripheral component interconnect express (PCI Express) connecting interface is provided. The microcontroller, the flash memory, and the PCI Express connecting interface are embedded on the single circuit board, and the microcontroller has a flash memory interface and a PCI Express interface. When a host writes a data into the flash storage chip, the microcontroller receives the data though the PCI Express interface and stores the data into the flash memory though the flash memory interface. When the host reads a data form the flash storage chip, the microcontroller reads the data from the flash memory though the flash memory interface and transmits the data to the host though the PCI Express interface and the PCI Express connecting interface.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2007Date of Patent: October 26, 2010Assignee: Phision Electronics Corp.Inventors: Khein-Seng Pua, Chih-Ling Wang, Wee-Kuan Gan

Publication number: 20100268864Abstract: A method for making memory more reliable involves accessing data stored in a removable storage device by translating a logical memory address provided by a host digital device to a physical memory address in the device. A logical memory address is received from the host digital device. The logical memory address corresponds to a location of data stored on the removable storage device. A physical memory address corresponding to the local address is determined by accessing a lookup table corresponding to the logical zone.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2009Publication date: October 21, 2010Inventor: Arunprasad Ramiya Mothilal
