Abstract: In a pen-based computing system, a user-specific smart pen application is created from a template application using customer authoring tools. The template application contains computer program code that is to be executed by a processor of a smart pen. Application content and a representation for printed content are received. The application content, provided by user or customer, defines functional interactions between the printed content representation and a smart pen. The template application is combined with application content to generate a user-specific application comprising instructions for being executed on a processor of a smart pen. The user-specific application is stored on a storage medium.

Abstract: A user interface tag for use in processing a service on a scannable document is provided. A printable surface is on one side of the scannable document and an adhesive surface is on another side of the scannable document. The printable surface further includes a printed data field specified substantially within the printable surface, including machine-readable marks of digital data encoding a service code and a user identification number; and a printed rectilinear border surrounding the printed data field to define a rectilinear iconic representation. A scanned representation of the machine-readable marks is located by identifying the printed rectilinear border using corner candidates oriented in diametric opposition from among connected components identified on the document and the scanned representation of the machine-readable marks are decoded from the rectilinear iconic representation to specify the user identification number and the service code.

Abstract: A user interface tag for use in processing a document is provided. A printable surface is on one side of a document and an adhesive surface is on an other side of the document. The printable surface further includes a printed data field, including machine-readable marks of digital data encoding a service and a user identity; and a printed border surrounding the printed data field to define an iconic representation. Abstract: A multimedia processing device implements a script having a data structure that is formed of a drawing information describing portion where media data is chronologically described, and a user navigation information describing portion where correspondence between events and actions and implementation conditions are chronologically described. The multimedia processing device implements this script, and thereby, media data is chronologically reproduced, and at the same time, a user interface showing operations that can be chronologically carried out is outputted. Then, a predetermined process, such as an insertion of media data, can be implemented by carrying out the operations following the user interface according to predetermined timing.

Abstract: The invention relates to multimedia page editing via a terminal. A server supplies multimedia pages to the terminal in the form of object arrangement commands for objects identified by parameters. A method according to the invention comprises a preliminary step wherein the server transmits all or part of the object-related parameters as well as a store command, whereby the parameters are stored in a terminal memory; and a main step wherein the server transmits a simple parameter retrieval command for editing at least one multimedia page in which the above-mentioned object appears.

In this embodiment, the web page authoring tool stores the presentation information, the animation information, and the runtime engine within a web page. The runtime engine may be configured to cause a web browser displaying the web page to render an animation. The animation can be based at least in part on the presentation information and the animation information.

Abstract: A method of selectively deactivating features on a computing device is described herein. The method can include the step of determining an examination time period for one or more students in which each of the students is in possession of a computing device. The examination time period can be set aside to enable the students to participate in a testing exercise. The method can further include the steps of generating a deactivation signal and transmitting the deactivation signal. The deactivation signal, when received at the student computing devices, can cause the student computing devices to selectively deactivate predetermined features of the student computing devices. The predetermined features may be based on a factor of providing an unfair advantage to a student during the examination time period.

Abstract: A method of operating a computer to perform linguistic analysis includes the steps of splitting an input text into words and sentences; for each sentence, comparing phrases in the sentence with known phrases stored in a database, as follows: for each word in the sentence, comparing its value and values of words following it with values of words of stored phrases, starting with the longest stored phrase that starts with that word, and working from longest to shortest; in the event a match is found for two or more consecutive words, and considering the words around the phrase, labelling the matched phrase with an overphrase that describes the grammar use of the matched phrase; after the penultimate word has been compared, recasting the sentence by replacing the matched phrases by their respective overphrases; and then repeating the comparison process with the recast sentence until there is no further recasting.

Abstract: A computer program product for standardizing the appearance of related accessories installed on a base product. The base product and related accessories can be visualized from a plurality of view-angles on a configurator application. An accessory is loaded onto the base product by an image transformation tool that manipulates the accessory to fit onto the base product. The transformed accessory is saved as a t-matrix profile for each view-angle of the base product, and the t-matrix profiles are associated with an accessory classification, which includes additional accessories that similarly fit the base product. The visualization data associated with the base product can then be updated with the t-matrix profiles. A customer GUI is provided for viewing the accessories fitted onto the base product where the transformations can automatically transform other accessories in the same accessory classification on the base product. Abstract: A videoconference multipoint control unit (MCU) automatically generates display layouts for videoconference endpoints. Display layouts are generated based on attributes associated with video streams received from the endpoints and display configuration information of the endpoints. An endpoint can include one or more attributes in each outgoing stream. Abstract: A system and method to customize and present an augmented reality environment featuring customized content: image(s), video, audio or combination thereof. A digital interface provides tools to empower users to create an augmented reality scene to be provided to other viewers. A viewer's client device launches an application and points the camera of the device at a graphic element (marker). The marker may be on printed media including an invitation or card. The marker may also be displayed digitally. The marker either has a unique access code built-in or it may have a separate access code inputted by the viewer. This code identifies the original creator's content. The device camera recognizes the marker to establish the position of the client device relative to the marker. The client device displays the augmented reality environment and content which is interactive as the viewer points and moves their device relative to the marker.
