Abstract: A document sharing system includes producing an updatable collection of multimedia documents. A collection coversheet provides a facile medium for handling and distributing large collections of documents. The system includes techniques for subsequent access to the collection, including printing all or portions of the collection.

Abstract: A multimedia playing apparatus is provided. The multimedia playing apparatus includes a memory for storing image files and multi media hyper link (MMHL) files, each MMHL file comprising timeline information, audio information, and text information; and a central processing unit (CPU) electrically connected to the memory for reading an image file from the memory, obtaining an MMHL file matched with the image file based on a name of the image file, and controlling simultaneous output of the image file and the MMHL file according to the timeline information. A multimedia playing method is also provided.

Abstract: The content description of multimedia content contains a plurality of descriptor values that pertain to specific events within the media. A Transport Hint Table (THT) provides a set of synchronization events that indicate the relation between timed events in the media and their representation in the content's description data. The THT allows for synchronized delivery of presentation of content description data with the associated events in the media. The THT provides a set of sync events based on the existence of “time” related events obtained from the content description data, which are relevant to particular events in the media. The THT allows the transport layer encoder to use the time-related events to synchronize the scheduled delivery times of media content segments and their associated descriptions. The THT also provides information for fragmenting a description for delivery and for managing resources at the decoder.

Abstract: An authoring tool has a graphical user interface enabling interactive authoring of a multimedia presentation including temporal and nontemporal media. The graphical user interface enables specification of the temporal and spatial relationships among the media and playback of the presentation with the specified temporal and spatial relationships. The spatial and temporal relationships among the media may be changed independently of each other. The presentation may be viewed interactively under the control of the author during the authoring process without encoding the audio and video data into a streaming media data file for combination with the other media, simulating behavior of a browser that would receive a streaming media data file. The multimedia presentation may include elements that initiate playback of the presentation from a specified point in time. After authoring of the presentation is completed, the authoring tool assists in encoding and transferring the presentation for distribution.

Abstract: In a multimedia contents converting apparatus configured to convert input multimedia contents to be displayed with a predetermined size, including text media and the other media, into output multimedia contents to be displayed with a size smaller than the predetermined size, a spatiotemporal layout information setting processing unit sets a display time of the text media included in layout information on the basis of a display time of the text media calculated in a text display time calculation processing unit, and sets a playing time of the other media included in the layout information on the basis of the display time of the text media set as the layout information.

Abstract: A system and method for managing information over a network (104, FIG. 1) enables a user, at a client computer (102) to access and modify information accessible to a server (106). A user can create (FIG. 10) a new manageable entity (e.g., a project), which results in storage of entity-specific and non-specific information (FIG. 12) in a database (108, FIG. 1). In addition, a user can create or edit (FIG. 17) various forms, which can be associated with one or more manageable entities. Information describing the form (FIG. 21) is then maintained by the system. The form can then be used to enter or modify data associated with the manageable entity.

Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for acquiring and transforming existing content (e.g., Hyper Text Markup Language HTML content) for display and execution on multiple platforms and architectures. In one embodiment, capture templates are created to harvest content from disparate content sources on multiple platforms. Data is extracted from the content from the disparate content sources using the created capture templates that drives extracting process. A standardized data stream is generated from the extracted data. The standardized data stream is provided for display on one or more different type of platforms.

Abstract: A video content creating apparatus includes a computer. The computer registers photographic image data input from a photographic input device and meta-information set in relation to the data in a database. After retrieving photographs based on the meta-information, the apparatus selects the photographs to be used for a reminiscence video and decides the reproduction order of the photographs. After registering a BGM playlist, the apparatus reproduces the photographs and BGM for creating the reminiscence video. If there are any regions, the apparatus displays the regions on a monitor while aligning them in sequence according to the meta-information on them. Upon completion of generation (rendering) of a series of reminiscence video contents, the apparatus creates the reminiscence video by saving the rendering results in Flash movie format, for example.

Abstract: A multimodal, multilanguage mobile device which can be employed to enhance note taking and/or annotation of a document, and gaming. Input data types such as optical character recognition (OCR), speech, handwriting, and visual information (e.g., image and/or video), etc., can be fused to generate rich documents with a multidimensional level of data to provide an increased level of context over conventional documents. Such architecture can be utilized by students for homework management, as well as entertainment (e.g., gaming).

Abstract: A system for representing the state of an enterprise software architecture is disclosed. The system comprises a datastore that contains a plurality of attributes of applications and of interfaces, including a state attribute. The system also comprises a plurality of stencils operable to define a graphic. The stencils are each associated with a script: that links back to the datastore, an application stencil operable to define an application graphic and associated with an application stencil script and an interface stencil operable to define an interface graphic and associated with an interface stencil. The system also comprises a template operable to define a drawing of an enterprise software architecture using the stencils.

Abstract: High audibility output is realized when audio output is provided in special playback. In special playback with audio output, skip/repeat control is done so that decoding and outputting of the audio data is periodically repeated/skipped during part of one frame. The output level may be corrected so as to emphasize appropriate frequency components. This realizes good audio output. In addition, the skip/repeat control and output level correcting methods are changed according to characteristics of the audio data to be reproduced. Also, this realizes good audio output.

Abstract: A system for facilitating the information transfer and processing associated with home construction and home sales. Various discrete software modules are disclosed each handling a specific task associated with home construction and sales. Also, a system for communicating between separate data bases is disclosed wherein separate and distinct sales offices, each having their own data base, may communicate with a parent, market office having its own data base wherein the data bases of the sales offices and the market office are synchronized according to the method of the present invention so that any data updates in any of the sales offices would be automatically updated in the associated market offices. This aspect of the present invention allows a corporation responsible for home construction and sales amongst various regional, market, and sales offices to coordinate a plurality of discretely separate data bases in a way such that they are all synchronized with one another at a predetermined time.

Abstract: Multimedia content is featured on user pages of an online social network using embed codes that are generated using a configuration file associated with the source ID for the multimedia content and a content ID for the multimedia content. The configuration file, the source ID and the content ID are stored locally by the online social network so that any changes to the embed codes can be made by changing the configuration file associated with the source and regenerating the embed codes. By managing multimedia content in this manner, greater control can be exercised by the online social network over the multimedia content that are featured on its user pages.

Abstract: A text editing and reproduction apparatus capable of maintaining the continuity of text data display and performing high-quality content reproduction. An ornament time information addition section adds ornament elapsed time which indicates elapsed time for ornament display of a text sample and which is display start time for a first text sample to the first text sample, and adds ornament elapsed time which indicates elapsed time for ornament display of the text sample and which is display start time for a second text sample to the second text sample. A text data reproduction process section performs a reproduction process while maintaining continuity between the first text sample and the second text sample by reproducing and displaying the first text sample from the ornament elapsed time to time when the text sample is separated and by reproducing and displaying the second text sample from the ornament elapsed time.

Abstract: A system for outputting a media stream and supplemental media streams is provided. A media stream manager outputs the media stream and associated supplemental media streams on a media stream output device. A timing module generates triggering events in conjunction with the output of the media streams according to event data. The media stream manager monitors for and detects the triggering events during the output of the media streams. Upon detecting a triggering event, the media stream manager determines which supplemental media streams are associated with the triggering event and iteratively outputs each associated supplemental media stream to the media stream output device. Supplemental media streams are output either synchronously or asynchronously according to previously determined information. A supplemental media stream that is output asynchronously to the media stream suspends the media stream and the timing of the media stream while the supplemental media stream is output.

Abstract: A synchronization manager synchronizes multiple media streams. The synchronization manager queries a media stream output device associated with each media stream to synchronize, and in response receives the current device clock time of each device, each device's next available media stream output time, and each device's delta between available media stream output times. The synchronization manager uses this timing information to determine an earliest available media stream output time common to each media stream output device, and synchronizes the output of the media streams by providing each stream to its associated output device at the earliest available common output time.

Abstract: Documents having a structured nature such as contracts, legislation, etc. can be formatted to emphasize their logical structure. In a document formatting method, a set of document element classes each representing a logical operator may be defined. Each document element class may have a set of document section formatting rules and a defined set of document elements such as text strings that provide an expression of the logical operator of the class. Document elements within a document may be identified and used to classify a document section containing the document elements into one or more of the document element classes. The formatting rules of the classified class may then be used to re-format the particular document section so that a reformatted version of the document section accords with the formatting rules for document sections of that class.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling the reproduction of multimedia includes an input unit for receiving a SMIL document, a SMIL analyzer for analyzing the SMIL document and generating a DOM tree based thereon, a control table generator for generating a predetermined control table with reference to the DOM tree and a media reproducing unit for reproducing a media data of the SMIL document. The apparatus also includes a controller for controlling the media reproducing unit with reference to the control table. A method for controlling reproduction of multimedia also analyzes a SMIL document. Through the apparatus and method, the multimedia data is effectively controlled in a limited resource system in which a multi-processing is not supported.

Abstract: In a slideshow which reproduces a content associated with comment information, the reproduction timing of the content can be controlled according to the reproduction timing of the comment information. In a reproduction table, the following are associated with each other: reproduction order; image-document combinations indicated by an image (or the identification information of the image, such as a JPEG file name) and a document (or the identification information of the document, such as a TXT file name); the number of characters in the document; and reproduction time of the image and the document identified by the identification information of the image and the document, respectively. The greater the number of characters the document has, the longer the reproduction time the image associated with the document has. Not every image needs to be associated with the document. For example, basic reproduction time of 5 seconds is assigned to image No. 3.

Abstract: A method and system for keeping endpoints such as speakers and displays synchronized via feedback based on the actual output of the endpoints. A source of audiovisual content transmits corresponding digital data to one or more endpoints, such as over a home network, where it may be buffered and/or decoded for playback. Microphones or the like sense actual (post-buffering/decoding) output from one or more endpoints and feed it back to a synchronization mechanism. The synchronization mechanism employs pattern matching or similar techniques to determine whether and how to adjust the timing of endpoints to synchronize their actual outputs. Synchronization may be accomplished by controllably delaying transmission and/or other processing, by controllably changing the rate of advancing in a buffer, and/or by jumping ahead in a buffer. The synchronization mechanism may adjust multiple endpoints, e.g., when limited buffer size limits the amount of adjustment a single device can provide.

Abstract: To provide fast, robust matching of audio content, such as music, with visual content, such as images, videos, and text, a keyword is extracted from either the audio content or the visual content. The keyword is then utilized to match the audio content with the visual content, or the visual content with the audio content. The keyword may also be utilized to find other related keywords for expanding the amount of visual content or audio content matched. The matched audio and visual content may also be mixed to generate audiovisual content, such as a presentation or slideshow with background music.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus which previews a read image is disclosed. The image processing apparatus includes a preview image processing unit in which a user is allowed to set a processing condition for the read preview image by operating on the read preview image and a preview image processed by the processing condition is displayed together with the setting of the processing condition on a displaying section.

Abstract: The invention proposes a method of filtering a bitstream according to user specifications. The proposed method uses a semantic description and a syntactical description of the bitstream. The semantic description is scanned to select the elementary units that match the user specification. The time is used as a linking mechanism between the semantic description and the syntactical description to locate the elements of the syntactical description that are to be removed. A filtered syntactical description is generated by removing the located elements. Finally, a filtered bitstream is generated from the filtered syntactical description.

Abstract: The invention includes structures and schema for organizing and inter-relating objects, data, or files, including relational, network, hierarchical, and entity-relationship models, among others, that are dynamic, that is changing with time. This includes manipulating structures by conversion, compression, compaction, and compilation, for various purposes. Also included is generating structures for storing, organizing, and managing dynamic objects for retrieval and presentation.

Abstract: A computer method and system synchronizes one streaming data signal with another data signal. A subject data signal and working data signal are received. The working data signal has predefined coordinates in a coordinate system (e.g., time origin and unit sampling rate in a time coordinate system for audio). The subject data signal and working data signal are transformed into respective common representations. An alignment process aligns the respective transformed representations by matching the transformed representation of the working data signal to that of the subject signal. A re-synchronizer element transposes the predefined coordinates of the working data signal onto the subject signal in the aligned state of the respective transformed representations. As such, the subject data signal is synchronized to the coordinate system of the working data signal.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for tagging, indexing, searching, retrieving, manipulating, and editing video images on a wide area network such as the Internet. A first set of methods is provided for enabling users to add bookmarks to multimedia files, such as movies, and audio files, such as music. The multimedia bookmark facilitates the searching of portions or segments of multimedia files, particularly when used in conjunction with a search engine. Additional methods are provided that reformat a video image for use on a variety of devices that have a wide range of resolutions by selecting some material (in the case of smaller resolutions) or more material (in the case of larger resolutions) from the same multimedia file. Still more methods are provided for interrogating images that contain textual information (in graphical form) so that the text may be copied to a tag or bookmark that can itself be indexed and searched to facilitate later retrieval via a search engine.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to various architectures that can, inter alia, facilitate creation of a synch file as well as facilitate interpretation of the synch file. Both creation and interpretation can be accomplished in conjunction with an original media asset. The synch file can include transformation commands that can operate on a presentation of the asset rather than upon the asset itself. Accordingly, what is actually perceived by a content consumer during a presentation of the asset need not be exactly what the asset creator fixed in a tangible medium. Rather, the content consumer can observe a derivative media presentation based upon interpretation of the synch file.

Abstract: Methods and systems provide a tool for assisting media players in rendering visualizations and synchronizing those visualizations with audio samples. In one embodiment, visualizations are synchronized with an audio stream using a technique that builds and maintains various data structures. Each data structure can maintain data that is associated with a particular pre-processed audio sample. The maintained data can include a timestamp that is associated with a time when the audio sample is to be rendered. The maintained data can also include various characteristic data that is associated with the audio stream. When a particular audio sample is being rendered, its timestamp is used to locate a data structure having characteristic data. The characteristic data is then used in a visualization rendering process to render a visualization.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for ordering or reordering objects (e.g., data, content, input objects, controls) within an electronic document. In a set order mode of operation, an operator orders objects by selecting or clicking on them in their desired order. During the set order mode, the apparatus displays a first indicator reflecting the set order mode, and a current index value—the order or position at which the next selected object will be placed. A control mode of operation is activated by engaging a predetermined key or control (e.g., CTRL key). During control mode, the apparatus displays a second indicator showing that the control mode is active, and the index of a target object (an object identified by a cursor controlled by the operator). The operator can reset the current index to the index of the target object by clicking on the target object while control mode is active.

Abstract: A system which is primarily of use for lawyers, judges and electronic court reporters operates to correlate personal log notes with digitally recorded audio proceedings, such as courtroom proceedings. The notes may be made in conjunction with the computer actually recording the courtroom proceedings; or they may be made on personal computers separate from the computer recording the court proceedings. Identification of the proceedings is made on both the digitally recorded proceedings, as well as on the log notes; so that they are correlated. Each time a note is entered, the time at which the note is entered is placed as a time stamp in conjunction with the note.

Abstract: File formats, methods, and computer program products are provided for representing a presentation in a modular content framework. The modular content framework may include a file format container associated with modular parts. A file format includes logically separate modular parts that are associated with each other by one or more relationships where each modular part is associated with a relationship type. The modular parts include a presentation part representing a start part for the presentation, a slide master part associated with the presentation part, and a slide layout part associated with the slide master part. The modular parts may also include a document properties part containing built-in properties associated with the file format, a thumbnail part containing associated thumbnails, and a slide part containing a slide in the presentation. Each modular part is capable of being interrogated separately, extracted from the presentation, and/or reused in a different presentation.

Abstract: A document processing apparatus is disclosed that has a capability of outputting video data related to document data. When electronic document data including information (video tag) specifying video data is input, video data related to that electronic document data is detected. The video data related to the electronic document data is output in synchronization with or independently of the output of the electronic document data thereby presenting to a user not only the document but also the video data related to the document.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile communication terminal and operating method thereof in which data sync error occurring when multimedia data is played can be compensated for. The mobile communication terminal includes a speaker through which played multimedia data is output, a display unit on which text data are output, an multimedia controller that analyzes and plays multimedia data, compensates for error of an output time, which is generated as the multimedia data are played, and outputs compensated text data, and a controller that manages data when multimedia data is played, and controls the driving of the speaker and the display unit. Temporal error between output time information and an audio signal that is actually output, and proportional temporal error occurring in proportion to an output time are calculated. Temporal information is compensated for based on the calculated temporal error and proportional temporal error.

Abstract: This invention is a combination of software and hardware components and methodologies that enable voice recognition for multiple users simultaneously. It introduces the concept of a “conversational voice log” and how voice logs are combined to represent the spoken words of a meeting or group conversations. It defines the components needed, command set for control, text output features, and usage of such a system.

A navigator, located at a server system, monitors the current play position of multimedia content at a consumer system and compares that position with navigation objects. When the current play position falls within the portion of multimedia content defined by a particular navigation object, the navigator sends the filtering action to the consumer system for processing. Abstract: Methods and systems assist media players in rendering visualizations and synchronizing the visualizations with audio samples. In one example, a system includes one or more audio sources configured to provide audio samples that are to be rendered by a media player. An audio sample pre-processor is communicatively linked with the one or more audio sources and is configured to receive and to pre-process audio samples before the samples are rendered. The pre-processing provides characterizing data associated with each sample and derived from the audio samples. One or more effects are configured to receive the characterizing data and use the characterizing data to render the visualization that is synchronized with an audio sample that is being rendered by the media player.

Abstract: A system and method adds audio to a media file. The audio may be received via one or more files in an uncompressed format, a compressed format or both types of files may be received. The system and method can mix multiple sources, and converts the audio received into a compressed version in a manner that facilitates streaming.

Abstract: Slide presentation files may be separated into one or more individual slide files, and the one or more individual slide files may be stored in a remote or local slide library. Stored individual slide files are populated with metadata for allowing subsequent search and location of individual slide files. A synchronization relationship may be established between a stored slide file and a copy of the stored slide file used in a slide presentation document. As updates are made to the stored slide file, a user of a copy of the stored slide file may be informed of and provided changes made to the original slide file via the synchronization relationship.

Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing and using calendar information from a shared database is disclosed. Calendar information can be stored in a shared database, e.g., on a server system and accessed and synchronized with one or more portable computer systems. The calendar information is stored using particular category types which facilitate separate manipulation, access and remobal of the calendar information when placed onto a portable computer system (e.g., palmtop). In one embodiment, calendar information is stored on a shared database and is assigned a unique category type. Multiple portable computer systems can then access the shared calendar information which can be displayed on each computer system along with the system's own calendar information. The unique category type is different from the default type of each system's own calendar information and the user is not able to change category types on the portable computer system.

The dialog presentation segment includes at least one region subtitle information. Abstract: A user selects one or more check boxes on a collection coversheet to identify, by location on the coversheet, target documents within a previously stored collection of documents. The check boxes also specify actions to be performed on the target documents. The coversheet is scanned and the check boxes are located and read to determine which have been marked. The specified actions are then performed on the target documents. If the specified actions change the organization or architecture of the document collection, an updated version of the collection may be generated and stored, and a new coversheet may be printed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods that facilitate annotating digital documents (e.g., digital inking) with devices such as Tablet PCs, PDAs, cell phones, and the like. The systems and methods provide for multi-scale navigation during document annotating via a space-scale framework that fluidly generates and moves a zoom region relative to a document and writing utensil. A user can employ this zoom region to annotate various portions of the document at a size comfortable to the user and suitably scaled to the device display. The space-scale framework enables dynamic navigation, wherein the zoom region location, size, and shape, for example, can automatically adjust as the user annotates. When the user finishes annotating the document, the annotations scale back with the zoom region to original page size. These novel features provide advantages over conventional techniques that do not contemplate multi-scale navigation during document annotating.

Abstract: The method and apparatus determine a specific position of a user-selectable region at a particular point in time within a sequence of display frames. The method and apparatus first interpolate between a first matrix representing the user-selectable region at a first point in time and a second matrix representing the user-selectable region at a second point in time. In one embodiment, the matrix generated by this interpolation is then applied to a region definition for the user-selectable region to determine the specific area occupied by the region at the particular point in time. According to one embodiment, the first matrix and the second matrix are both stored within the same sample of a container track. This sample corresponds to one or more frames of the sequence of display frames. In an alternate embodiment, the first matrix and the second matrix are stored in two separate samples of the container track.
