Abstract: An apparatus may include a housing that is configured to support a picture, a sensor that is configured to receive an input and that is associated with the picture, a communication module that is configured to communicate with a remote device and to retrieve audio messages from the remote device, a speaker that is configured to play the audio messages, an electronics control module that is configured to control playing of the audio messages that are designated as being associated with the picture in response to selection of the sensor, and a power module.

Abstract: A system and method of navigating linked web resources is disclosed. The method includes the steps of displaying a current page including links to linked resources, zooming to a selected link, displaying a portion of a content of the linked resource in the same space as the link when a first predetermined zoom threshold is reached, and displaying the content of the linked resource when a second predetermined zoom threshold is reached. The system includes a navigation tool, a means for detecting movement of the navigation tool relative to a link in a web resource, and a rendering utility coupled to the means for detecting movement for providing a content of the linked web resource.

Abstract: An instruction is received to display a section of a referencing document on a screen. The section has at least one referencing link referencing a different section. The section of the referencing document is displayed on the screen. A selection of a referencing link is received. The different section referenced by the referencing link is displayed on the screen, at least partially at a same time of the displaying of the section of the referencing document. A visual indicator that associates the referencing link with the different section is displayed. Also in response to receiving the selection and in response to determining that the section of the referencing document includes multiple reference links of the at least one reference link to different section, other visual indicators that associate the multiple referencing links with the different section are displayed.

Abstract: A system modifies documents to aid users in determining which of the entries in the documents to choose. The system identifies a document that includes one or more entries. The system determines a score for each of the entries and modifies the identified document, or entries in the identified document, based on the determined scores. The system then provides the modified document to a user.

Abstract: Techniques for grouping hyperlinked documents are provided. Links near or in the neighborhood of the hyperlinked documents are analyzed in order to group the hyperlinked documents by topic. For example, links that are search results can be grouped by identifying other hyperlinked documents that have multiple forward links to the search results. The search results can then be grouped according to the forward links of the other hyperlinked documents.

Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying and editing state-specific link attributes during the development of electronic content. The states of HTML links, which can be defined by CSS pseudo classes, can be displayed and edited using visual interface features of a content creation application. Such features can provide convenient ways to view multiple links simultaneously in a selected state and to edit the appearance of a state that is applicable to multiple links used in a piece of content being developed. The user interface of a content creation application can provide a button, command, or other user-selectable option that sets the state in which link representations are displayed. This can be achieved, as an example, in the case of HTML links defined by CSS pseudo classes, by filtering links based on state so that all displayed links display in the selected state, e.g., in the :link, :visited, :hover, :active, or :focus state.

Abstract: An implementation is described for identifying a location of content within a document. The implementation includes displaying at least a portion of the document on a display of a computer. The implementation also includes receiving a user selection of the location within the document. The implementation also includes generating a location identifier. The location identifier describes the location within the document in terms of a document structure implemented by the document. The implementation also includes encoding the location identifier into a uniform resource locator (URL). The URL links to the document and identifies the location within the document. The implementation also includes sending the URL from the computer to a second computer. The second computer is configured to decode the URL and interpret the location identifier to display the visual marker at the location within the document.

Abstract: Enabling the user to link a selected sequence of hypertext World Wide Web (Web) documents into a string and to store the string at his receiving Web display station so that these documents will be available for his use. An implementation at a receiving display station is provided for designating a received Web document as a starter document and for selecting a subsequently received Web document as a first next document. An implementation is provided for creating a hyperlink in the starter document to the first next document, together with means for storing said starter and next documents at said receiving display station.

Abstract: Computer apparatus, system and method maintain a database of hyperlinks associated with activities and inactions in the past of a user. From a current work space of the user, a recommendation engine searches the database to retrieve hyperlinks based on user-specified context and topic. The recommendation engine displays recommended hyperlinks (candidates) and enables the user to filter the recommended hyperlinks by original source, activity metric or other relevance. To form and maintain the database, a context analysis engine captures activity content links. Each activity content link has a respective hyperlink associated with an activity/inaction of the user. The context analysis engine generates a metric based on the activity and records the respective hyperlink in the database along with the metric. The recommendation engine and context analysis engine may, on user command, further search social media or social networks in order to make hyperlink recommendations to the user.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for creating, applying, using and retrieving profile information that includes attributes that may be stored separately from, or with, the content to which the profiles are being applied. In this manner, profiles can be shared in various environments and across various applications. Attributes that have corresponding attributes in other content can be applied to the other content, as long as each of the attributes is valid. In computer aided design applications, the profile can be stored in a profile repository embedded within the CAD model. In addition, profile controllers are disclosed which control the attributes of a profile that can be used with selected content and other content and send a notification that a profile is available for use by other content.

Abstract: A print controller and associated methods are disclosed. Some print jobs received in the print controller are stored in a rasterized or ripped job spool. The release of these jobs is coordinated by a control system in the print controller. The control system processes an algorithm to determine a sequence of releasing one or more print jobs stored in the rasterized job spool. The control system generates a job despool token and transmits the job despool token to a rasterized job handling system through the data stream of the raw print jobs (such as through the interpreter). The job despool token follows the normal data stream of print jobs through the print controller to the rasterized job handling system. Responsive to receiving and processing the job despool token, the rasterized job handling system releases the print job from the rasterized job spool to a print queue.

Abstract: A computer navigation system and method has one or more interactive links displayed on a display connected to a computer appliance, and one or more visual linktags associated with individual ones of the one or more interactive links, the linktags displaying one or more numbers, characters or symbols, the system enabled to initiate an interactive link in the display upon user input of one of the numbers, characters or symbols in a linktag.

Abstract: Methods for selectively viewing images in a web page on a mobile device are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a selection from a mobile device to download a web page without downloading images in the web page, and providing the web page with image placeholders in place of the images in the web page, wherein each image placeholder is the same height and width and in the original position of the image in the web page. The method also includes receiving a selection of one or more image placeholders prompting a request to provide and display the one or more corresponding images, and providing the one or more images for display in place of the one or more image placeholders in the web page. Systems, graphical user interfaces, and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided that record details and analytics about a sales call presentation. Presentation materials are stored in the form of digital content in a memory. A first user interface is provided to allow a presenter to select a presentation, and a second user interface is provided to allow a presenter to enter details about the sales call. Analytical data of the presentation is recorded in real-time and the analytical data is stored in a memory, wherein the analytical data is used in part to assess the success of the presentation.

Abstract: A computer-based system provides a user interface for displaying hyperlinked content (such as web content) and for enabling users to navigate the hyperlinks contained within such content. One benefit of various embodiments of the present invention is that they enable primary hyperlinked content to be rendered, and for associated content (i.e., content located at the destinations of hyperlinks within the primary content) to be rendered without replacing, overwriting, or otherwise obscuring the rendering of the primary content. As a result, the rendering of the primary content remains fully visible after the associated content is rendered and while the rendering of the associated content is visible. For example, the associated content may be rendered in an existing display area that does not overlap with the display area containing the rendering of the primary content.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for managing bookmarks associated with web pages. A button is displayed on a graphical user interface associated with a browser displaying a web page on the computer display. A user input selecting the button is received. Each time the button is selected, an editing window is displayed, which includes several bookmark editing operations for the displayed web page. The bookmark editing operations can be completed by a user in the editing window.

Abstract: Described is a technology by which an interactive timeline user interface shows communication data aggregated from various sources (e.g., a telephone service, a website, an application and/or the like) in time order. To reduce the number of items in the timeline, certain items may be combined into a compressed item, e.g., items from the same source and/or of the same type may be rolled up into a rolled up item. The user may also interact to reply to a data item. For example, an editor may be provided upon interaction with a data item in the timeline, and the type of reply that is sent may automatically match the type of data item, (e.g., a text message reply to a text message).

Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, article of manufacture and storage medium, provide the ability to select and highlight objects. A rendered image (containing one or more rendered objects) is displayed in a client browser on a client computer. A run length encoded (RLE) selection buffer is received, from a server across a network, into the client browser. The selection buffer provides a mapping of each pixel from the rendered image to rendered objects. User input is accepted that identifies a location of a cursor with respect to the rendered image. A determination is made, on the client computer, regarding which of the rendered objects has been selected based on the user input and the RLE selection buffer. The selected rendered object is then displayed in a visually distinguishable manner.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for displaying a uniform resource locator (URL) to assist a user in determining whether a URL destination is what the user expects. A link is presented for selection to a user, and a URL corresponding to the link is accessed. A portion of the URL that corresponds to a hostname component of the URL may be identified, and the URL may be displayed. The hostname component of the URL is visually distinguished from other components of the URL. In addition to or as an alternative to displaying the URL and visually distinguishing the hostname component, a warning message relating to the hostname portion of the URL may be displayed. The techniques may be implemented as a software plug-in or in any type of software application that is capable of recognizing URLs.

Abstract: A device, method, and system for providing an electronic reading environment are described herein. The device, method, and system convert standard electronic text into a hyper-text document. The hyper-text document transforms standard electronic text into access points that allow a reader to further explore each word, group of words, or image in the hyper-text document. Navigational aids and features assist in combining the advantages of paper-based and electronic-based text into one electronic reading environment for reading any electronic text.

Abstract: Various embodiments utilize page scripting and parsing to identify the target destination of a hyperlink and provide a visual indication of the destination to the user without causing redirection to the target destination. In some embodiments, hyperlink color, highlighting, or icons are used to indicate the destination. Particular colors and/or icons selected to indicate the destination can, in some embodiments, be selected based on the domain hosting the target destination. In at least some embodiments, the destination of a link is determined by the page script run by a web browser on a user's device, while in other embodiments, information is transmitted to a web request handler on the server hosting the web site to determine the destination.

Abstract: Additional documents are automatically located that are relevant to an original document, such as a document being read by a user, and also potentially relevant to personal information of the user. The additional documents may be located based on descriptive information that includes personal information of the user and content information of the document being read. The additional documents, or links to the additional documents, may be incorporated into the document being read. In some implementations, the additional documents may be presented in-line with the document being read, such as through an in-link link or text snippet. The user can thus be efficiently presented with additional information that is relevant to the original document being read.

Abstract: A content server includes an e-mail masking module. The e-mail masking module is configured to replace text-based c-mail addresses, contained in content provided by the content server, with images of the e-mail addresses. The e-mail masking module can be a part of the content server. The e-mail masking module can be a standalone module capable of being installed into or operate in conjunction with the content server.

Abstract: In one embodiment, common functions of hyperlinks are listed and associated with alternative terms, which may be words and phrases that are commonly used to identify hyperlinks in web pages and other documents. A common icon is associated with each common function, and a predetermined position on a display screen is assigned to each common icon. The alternative terms for each common function are compared to each of the hyperlinks in a source document. If a hyperlink matches an alternative term of a common function, the target resource locator from that hyperlink, which points to a target document, is associated with that common function. The corresponding common icon is displayed at its predetermined position on a display screen in the form of a common function hyperlink, which includes the target resource locator. Activating the common function hyperlink redirects the application to the target document.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer program products, for ranking news articles. A plurality of news articles referenced in one or more hub pages are identified, where each of the hub pages include respective references to one or more of the news articles. A score component is derived for a news article from a measure of a prominence of the news article in the hub pages that includes a reference to the news article.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and an operating method thereof are provided. The operating method includes bookmarking a plurality of websites using a touch screen of the mobile terminal, and storing a plurality of images respectively corresponding to the bookmarked plurality of websites; displaying on the touch screen an image array including the stored plurality of images in such a manner to create a sense of distance; and if a drag signal is input via a touch screen, changing at least one of the sizes of the images in the image array, at least one image in the image array, and an arrangement of the images in the image array, according to a direction and distance corresponding to the input drag signal. Therefore, it is possible to easily access and manage bookmarked websites.

Abstract: An instruction is received to display a section of a referencing document on a screen. The section has at least one referencing link referencing a different section. The section of the referencing document is displayed on the screen. A selection of a referencing link is received. The different section referenced by the referencing link is displayed on the screen, at least partially at a same time of the displaying of the section of the referencing document. A visual indicator that associates the referencing link with the different section is displayed. Also in response to receiving the selection and in response to determining that the section of the referencing document includes multiple reference links of the at least one reference link to different section, other visual indicators that associate the multiple referencing links with the different section are displayed.

Abstract: An image map designer creates an image map for use with an image. The image map contains one or more hotspots, each of which specifies a set of pixels which may be non-contiguous and non-polygonal. The image map designer may create the image map using image processing software that facilitates creation of non-contiguous and non-polygonal image maps. Multiple versions of the image map may be created, each for use with a different magnification of the image. The image maps are stored in a compact format, which may be transmitted efficiently from a server to a client. Data contained within the image map facilitates the process of determining whether the client user's mouse pointer is within any of the hotspots, and the process of applying the image map to the image when rendered at different magnifications.

Abstract: To direct the user's awareness towards a page linked from a specific element, a script (object control program) is embedded in a Web page to be transmitted from a Web server and then executed by a user terminal. It is assumed that a plurality of link elements (elements to which links to other Web pages are set up) are placed in the Web page. The computer terminal that executes the object control program places objects with a size covering the whole area of each link element in front of several link elements in a Web page containing a plurality of link elements and gradually scales down the displayed size of the objects. The link elements thereby gradually appear on the display.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for handling client/server traffic and communications pertaining to the delivery of hypertext information to a client. The system includes a central server which processes a request for a web page from a client. The system operates by receiving a request for a web page from a client. If information for the requested web page is available in a cache, it is forwarded to the client. Otherwise, the relevant information for the requested web page is retrieved from the pertinent server and processed to generate additional relevant information for creating an annotated version of the requested web page which includes additional displayable hypertext information. In handling its communications with various processing/storage entities, the operating system running behind the central server utilizes a pool of persistent threads and an independent task queue to improve the efficiency of the central server.

Abstract: An image map designer creates an image map for use with an image. The image map contains one or more hotspots, each of which specifies a set of pixels which may be non-contiguous and non-polygonal. The image map designer may create the image map using image processing software that facilitates creation of non-contiguous and non-polygonal image maps. Multiple versions of the image map may be created, each for use with a different magnification of the image. The image maps are stored in a compact format, which may be transmitted efficiently from a server to a client. Data contained within the image map facilitates the process of determining whether the client user's mouse pointer is within any of the hotspots, and the process of applying the image map to the image when rendered at different magnifications.

Abstract: A system includes a plurality of hierarchical layers configured to solve a decision-making problem. Each hierarchical layer is configured to generate solution data representing a possible solution to a sub-problem associated with the decision-making problem. Each hierarchical layer is also configured to receive orders and to use the orders during generation of the solution data. The orders include orders based on the solution data from a higher hierarchical layer, orders based on feedback from a lower hierarchical layer, and/or orders that are exogenously provided. Each hierarchical layer could be configured to use the orders to simplify a search for the possible solution to the sub-problem being solved by that hierarchical layer, such as by excluding solutions inconsistent with the orders.

Abstract: A set of elements, such as, for example, a path, a directory list, a playlist, and a listing of information associated with a file or a song, may be truncated so that a partial set may be generated and displayed. The truncation may be performed in an intelligent manner to produce a meaningful truncated portion. Such a partial set may be beneficial when the space allotted for display of the set is small to begin with or is reduced. In one implementation, a display size of a set is compared with a size of a display area. A data element is selected based on the comparison, and a display space size is determined for the selected data element. A truncated, yet meaningful, portion is determined for the selected data element, the portion fitting within the display space size.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product enables manipulation of a message thread created by linking two or more messages within a messaging interface of a synchronous, collaborative messaging application. The message thread is first generated by linking the plurality of messages within the messaging interface. Then manipulation of the message thread is enabled in a separate window from the messaging interface.

Abstract: A system, a method and computer-readable for providing the location of client devices to website providers. An application residing on a client device is provided. The application may present content, such as a web page, received over a communications network. The application is configured to generate a request for information describing the location of the client device. In response to this request, a location service may obtain the location of the client device and may communicate this location to a website provider. The website provider may generate a web page for display by the application. This web page may contain content selected based on the location of the client device.

Abstract: The present disclosure introduces a method and apparatus of generating Internet navigation page. A method of Internet navigation includes: creating a base page; receiving the user-defined website information; adding at least a web link logo on the base page based on the user-defined website information. The user-defined website information includes: website address, customized website name, and the location of the added web link logo on the base page. With the disclosed techniques, a user can personally customize the content of the navigation website based on the individual's Internet habits. On the other hand, every website link logo can be put at an arbitrary location of the navigation page. Compared to the Favorites, the navigation page has better visibility and thus more easily distinguishes websites.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for refreshing data-linked diagrams on a server computer and viewing and consuming the refreshed diagrams via a Web browser. A drawing program allows equations within a diagram definition to define how external data is utilized to modify the attributes of a diagram element. When the diagram is published to a server computer, the definition is converted to server-legible definition. A published diagram is generated that includes a diagram representation defined by the server-legible definition. Upon a request for the published diagram, the external data is refreshed and the diagram definition is updated. The equations are recalculated to generate new element attributes. The diagram representation is then updated with the new attributes and returned for display by a client Web browser. An interface provides exploration tools and a client API exposes methods for surfacing external data and annotating the diagram.

Abstract: Links in a system may be displayed at varying prominence based on user interaction with the links. Link paths chosen by users become apparent by virtue of display prominence of the links. A link may be displayed with greater or lesser prominence corresponding to the propensity of users to interact with the link. Prominence values that affect a prominence at which links are displayed may be modified based on user interaction information. Prominence values may further automatically decay, possibly over time or according to user interaction with the links. Using and modifying prominence values in this manner, links that emerge with greater prominence may form one or more “paths” that users can readily follow. Much as in the natural world where pheromones deposited by ants attract other ants to desirable paths, user interaction information can be advantageously used to automatically identify more desirable link paths to a resource.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for providing workspace navigation with a tag cloud. The computer-implemented method may include identifying a set of launch items within a workspace. The computer-implemented method may also include displaying the tag cloud in a graphical user interface. Each tag in the tag cloud may be associated with one or more launch items from the set of launch items. The computer-implemented method may further include receiving, from the graphical user interface, a selection of a tag from the tag cloud. The computer-implemented method may include using the selected tag to identify a subset of launch items within the set of launch items. The computer-implemented method may also include identifying a request to launch at least one launch item in the subset of launch items and launching the at least one launch item. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

Abstract: Computer-readable media, computer systems, computing methods, and computing devices for providing deep-link notifications is provided. In embodiments, the method includes identifying one or more deep links that correspond with a navigated to website. Such deep links may be identified using a search service. The deep links can be comprised of popular links within the website other than a main page of the website. Upon identifying deep links that correspond with a navigated to website, a deep-link notification is provided via a toolbar. The deep-link notification provides an indication that deep links are available for the website.

Abstract: Mobile friendly internet searches are enabled by determining if individual internet sites are mobile friendly. In a described implementation, a mobile-friendliness indication is determined for an internet site. The determined mobile-friendliness indication is stored in association with the internet site in an index that may be used for internet searching. In another described implementation, a data structure comprises an internet index with multiple internet site entries having one or more associated mobile-friendliness indications. The mobile-friendliness indications may be general affirmative indications of mobile friendliness or specific indications of mobile-friendliness that identify a specific user agent type. In yet another described implementation, a search request having search terms is received, and a search is performed based thereon to produce a search results set.

Abstract: Provided is a hyperlink display method based on a visit history accumulation, which is capable of providing search convenience between web documents by providing a self-updating hyperlink through accumulation of a visit history. The hyperlink display method includes displaying a plurality of hyperlink included in a web document when the web document is selected, recording a weight value of a selected hyperlink when any one of the plurality of hyperlinks is selected, and displaying the weight value of the selected hyperlink on the web document.

Abstract: A computer-based method and system for processing links in a markup language document are provided. The method includes providing a specification in computer memory, the specification including at least one link description rule and at least one link processing rule for processing links which satisfy the link description rule. A markup language document is input to computer memory and links in the markup language document are processed in accordance with the link description rule(s) and link processing rule(s) of the specification to generate processed data. The processed data includes at least one of a modified markup language document and data derived from the markup language document.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for delivering content to customers of a service provider are provided. Upon receiving a request for content from a customer of a service provider, a position of the requested content on a content demand curve is determined. A business model to be associated with the requested content is selected, wherein the business model defines how the requested content is to be delivered to the customer and how the customer is to be billed for the requested content. The requested content is delivered to the customer according to the selected business model and the customer is billed according to the selected business model.

Abstract: Embodiments include providing multiple discernible indicia that provide an indication of behaviors associated with selection of a particular link. The multiple discernible indicia may include visually-discernible graphical icons configured to be displayed as a pictorial image that visually represents a behavior associated with selection of the particular link. The visually-discernible graphical icons may include a first icon that, when selected, causes a default behavior associated with the link selection to occur, and a second icon that, when selected, causes an alternative behavior associated with the link selection to occur. Also, responsive to receiving a user-provided modifier, the first or second icon may be replaced with a third icon that visually represents a different alternative behavior to occur that is different than both the default and alternative behaviors.

Abstract: A method is provided to assist a user in selecting, identifying, and handling email messages. A display of color coding and selection highlighting may be provided. A secondary highlighting color may be provided to indicate messages related to a selected message. One or more of the following may also be provided: an indicator that provides the user with a number of items that are off the screen for a particular category, a command that causes the first entry for a category to be scrolled into view, a label to indicate the number of items in a particular category matching a particular criteria, and/or a control for scrolling between next or previous categories.
