Abstract: A mobile terminal and an operating method thereof are provided. The operating method includes bookmarking a plurality of websites using a touch screen of the mobile terminal, and storing a plurality of images respectively corresponding to the bookmarked plurality of websites; displaying on the touch screen an image array including the stored plurality of images in such a manner to create a sense of distance; and if a drag signal is input via a touch screen, changing at least one of the sizes of the images in the image array, at least one image in the image array, and an arrangement of the images in the image array, according to a direction and distance corresponding to the input drag signal. Therefore, it is possible to easily access and manage bookmarked websites.

Abstract: Additional documents are automatically located that are relevant to an original document, such as a document being read by a user, and also potentially relevant to personal information of the user. The additional documents may be located based on descriptive information that includes personal information of the user and content information of the document being read. The additional documents, or links to the additional documents, may be incorporated into the document being read. In some implementations, the additional documents may be presented in-line with the document being read, such as through an in-link link or text snippet. The user can thus be efficiently presented with additional information that is relevant to the original document being read.

Abstract: A computer navigation system and method has one or more interactive links displayed on a display connected to a computer appliance, and one or more visual linktags associated with individual ones of the one or more interactive links, the linktags displaying one or more numbers, characters or symbols, the system enabled to initiate an interactive link in the display upon user input of one of the numbers, characters or symbols in a linktag.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, an application comprises a sharing mechanism that allows a user to 1) quickly generate an image of information from a document, such as a screenshot of information displayed in a graphical user interface; 2) concurrently generate a link to the document, and 3) simultaneously paste the image with the associated link in another application. The image and link are generated in response to a single user input, such as a click on a “one-click sharing button.” The image and link are placed in a buffer, such as a clipboard, in such a manner that both may be retrieved via a single paste operation. Once pasted in another document, the image with the associated link may be shared with other users via email or any other suitable means. Techniques for pre-cropping and pre-annotating generated screenshots are also described.

Abstract: A method and apparatus of managing a phone device of a personal digital assistant (PDA) is provided. In one example of the present invention, the PDA retrieves a call history list from a stored memory location, the call history list including a call history list record. The PDA then displays at least a portion of the call history list on a screen of the PDA. The call history list preferably includes phone numbers and names associated with those phone numbers. In another example, the method further includes displaying call details of a selected call history list record. The call details preferably includes a date, a timestamp, and a duration.

Abstract: Systems and methods directed at providing browser sensitive web content are provided. A web server is configured to receiving a request from a client and to identify a browser in the client from which the request was initiated. A browser specific cascading style sheet (CSS) corresponding to the identified browser is determined. The browser specific CSS includes instructions that enable the browser to handle elements that are provided by a certain version of a CSS standard. The web server incorporates the browser specific CSS into web content and provides the web content with the browser specific CSS to the client in response to the request.

Abstract: Systems and methods and computer programs for verifying the authenticity and integrity of hyperlink addresses and files that are accessible by means of these hyperlink addresses. A system and a method are disclosed for authenticating a file such as an HTML document hyperlinked to a graphic object such as a digital image or to a graphic icon. The hyperlink network address (e.g., the URL of the hyperlink on the Internet) is encoded on a first portion of the graphic object. Checking information such as a MAC digital signature and the hyperlinked file are encoded into a second portion of the same graphic object. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, a system and a method are disclosed for verifying the authenticity and integrity of a hyperlink and a file when this hyperlink is activated.

Abstract: A document, which may be referred to as a “citing document,” is displayed. The display may comprise the text of the citing document, which may comprise one or more citations to one or more other documents. As displayed, one or more of the citations is associated with indicia of a value associated with the respective cited document. For example, a display of a judicial opinion may include citations to one or more other opinions, and one or more of the citations may be preceded by icons reflecting an estimate of the precedential value of each respective cited opinion. Computerized systems and methods for causing such display are also provided.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a system that allows publishers to publish bibliographic data, reference data, and/or author notes of non-fiction materials (e.g. books, journals, etc.) on an Internet web site with a formal structure rather than in paper form. Bibliographic references and author notes are stored in a computer database, and presented to end users through web pages in such a manner that references can be displayed alongside digital images of the physical pages that they originated from, with hypertext links to digital files representing the author's original sources, as appropriate.

Abstract: A system and method for evaluating the integrity of a set of electronically stored files that contain hypertext links or other types of file references. The set of files may be received in compressed or uncompressed form. An integrity evaluator evaluates each file in the set of files for one or more integrity conditions or violations. The integrity evaluator may determine whether any of the files include no references to other files, or are not referenced by any other files. The integrity evaluator may also test for broken references, references employing absolute path names, invalid symbols within references, and other conditions. A report module issues a report regarding the integrity of the files and their references.

Abstract: A system, apparatus and method are provided that enable the receipt of answers to questions from users and to make those answers persistent within a generalized database schema. A set of one or more middleware entities and components are provided to process the user's answers that are submitted to the system. The middleware entities differentiate one user from another user by use of a session. Different sets of questions are grouped into encounters, and the answers to the questions for a particular encounter are given a unique identifier. The unique identifier can be used to identify the user and/or the particular encounter. The answers to the questions can be retrieved and viewed in numerous ways, such as by user, by encounter, by question, by question type, by answer, by answer type, etc. The selection of database schema and the structure of the middleware enables the system to handle any answer to any question without requiring the restructuring of the database or database schema.

Abstract: Methods and systems provide for automatically diagramming a web site and associated web pages and links based on interactive navigation and selection performed by a user. Through interactive hyperlink selection and diagramming, a web site diagram is constructed that is based upon the web pages and links selected by a user while the user is traversing or navigating the web site starting at any given point within the web site. The diagram may be prepared so that only user-selected web pages and/or links are mapped and diagrammed, or all web pages and/or links at any traversed discovery level of the web site may be mapped and diagrammed. One automatically mapped portion of a selected website may be “bridged” to a second automatically mapped portion of the selected website, where user input allows for selection of the different portions of the web site to be automatically mapped.

Abstract: Systems and methods for ranking pages and/or hosts in a faster and more relevant manner are provided. Systems and methods for ranking pages and/or hosts based on session data and/or traffic data are also provided. According to the invention, session maps can be created using DNS and/or ISP data. Systems and methods for ranking pages and/or hosts for the purpose of doing business are also provided.

Abstract: Tools and techniques are described for linking visual properties of charts to cells within tables. Methods provided by these tools enable users to select visual properties that are associated with graphical displays of chart data, and to link these visual properties to respective cells within the tables. User interfaces provided by these tools may provide representations of visual properties associated with the graphical displays of chart data, with these representations of the visual properties being responsive to user input to link the cells in the tables to the visual properties. These user interfaces may also include representations of the cells that are associated with the representations of the visual properties.

Abstract: A system to explore connections between a current and other pages by stepping through and seeing connections by successive juxtaposition. Content links each represent a connection between a first and second pages, where such content links each include at least one departure point in the first page and arrival point in the second page. A current content link exists between a current (first) page and a companion (second) page. At least part of the current page including the current content link's departure point and at least part of the companion page including the current content link's arrival point, are shown spatially isolated in a display visually emphasizing the current content link.

Abstract: Software program development has grown in huge proportions in the past several decades. With the advancements in software language structure, anyone skilled in the field of computer programming was developing new software. This improved invention will allow the user to save time by performing an everyday task in the world of business; faxing media, only this invention will improve the efficiency by how its done. It will allow the user to fax directly from their computer to a fax machine instead of having to print copies of documents and media from their computer, get up and go to another machine to fax them and then after faxing the documents—you end up having to scan them back into your computer for record purposes. By using this software program, the user will easily distinguish the fax number from the phone number on the same document.

Abstract: An adaptation system adapts a web page, which is developed to be displayed by a web browser, to be displayed by client-side code of an application. When a web server receives a request for a web page, it determines whether the request was sent from a client device executing client-side code or from a non-client device executing a browser. If the request is from a client, then the web server uses the adaptation system to adapt the web page to the environment of the application. The adaptation system may modify the web page so that the menus of the web page are not displayed when the web page is displayed within a window of the application. The adaptation system may also modify links of the content of the web page to reference forms of the application, rather than other web pages.

Abstract: A method, system and apparatus for highlighting Web pages on a server that the user has already bookmarked is provided. When a user accesses a server, an application program compares the URLs of all the Web pages bookmarked in the user's bookmark folder with URLs of Web pages on the server. All the Web pages on the server having a common URL with the Web pages bookmarked are then highlighted.

Abstract: Users are shown how a web page has been modified from a previous version. Information related to differences between the current version of the web page and a previous version of the web page is provided in response to user-initiated activity within a predefined region of the current version of the web page. In some embodiments, when a user attempts to activate a feature of the web page at a location associated with a former location of the feature in a previous version of the page, the feature is activated, but update information related to the differences between the previous and current versions of the web page is displayed over at least a portion of the information generated by activation of the feature. In some embodiments, the user is required to perform a specific action in order to clear the display of the update information.

Abstract: An apparatus in one example has an analytical environment for mashup data having visual analysis metaphors, and linking and correlation functionality among the visual analysis metaphors. A system may have: at least one store having a predetermined floor plan layout; at least one predetermined location on the predetermined floor plan layout for displaying at least one product; analytical environment for mashup data having visual analysis metaphors, the mashup data formed from data indiciative of the predetermined floor plan layout, and data indicated of sales of the at least one product; and linking and correlation functionality among the visual analysis metaphors through a web browser. In one example, a plurality of products may be positioned on a plurality of shelves, and may be depicted in a geographical display. Sales of each product may be depicted in a in time line display that is linked to the geographical display.

Abstract: A method of allowing a consumer to be hyperlinked from a content provider's website to an advertiser's website based upon the use of one or more keywords. The advertiser would associate the URL address, of one of the advertisers with one or more keywords provided on the content provider's website. Therefore, when a consumer would click on these keywords, they would be sent to the website designated by the advertiser.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of highlighting links that are not clearly identifiable in a Web document are provided. When the document is displayed, if the links are not clearly recognizable as such, the user may depress a button. Upon depressing the button, all the links embedded in the document will be highlighted. Here, highlighted is used to mean any manner that may be used to make the links clearly recognizable as such.

Abstract: A method for presenting a page, having a set of links, on a data processing system is provided. The page is preprocessed to form a processed page, wherein the processed page is unpresented within the data processing system. A determination is made as to whether or not the links within the page fall within a proximity policy. Responsive to a determination that the page falls outside of the proximity policy, the page is reformatted to fall within the proximity policy. The mechanism of the present invention includes a preprocessing process and a policy structure for reformatting an electronic document page. The policy structure of the present invention allows the user to specify the appearance of the electronic document page. The policy structure as defined by the user is stored such that when the user returns to the page, the page may be displayed according to the policy structure defined by the user.

Abstract: An end-to-end approach is provided for developing and maintaining network device management applications. The approach includes an XML-based development environment for network device management applications that uses Management Data API (MDA) schemas that define a hierarchical data model for components supported by a network device. The XML-based development environment also uses XML schemas to define a common XML-based interface used by management applications to access management data maintained on the network device. The approach provides programmatic access to network device management data and management data schema with an XML-based data model and interface that is consistent across all network device components. The approach includes mechanisms for automatically generating XML requests that conform to a hierarchical data model from requests that conform to a table-based data model.

Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to quickly identify a place where a hyperlink is located in a document being displayed, and to design the document without caring about the indication of the location of the hyperlink. When a control thread is activated, a transparent sheet generation unit stores a transparent sheet into a transparent sheet storage unit; a thread activation unit activates a display thread and a visualization thread to cause a position identifying unit to identify a position where a hyperlink exists in a document being displayed; and to cause a marker drawing unit to draw a marker at the position thus identified in the transparent sheet. When the display thread is activated, a display unit reads a transparent sheet from the transparent sheet storage unit, and displays the transparent sheet in a visible state which has been stored in a visibleness state storage unit.

Abstract: A method for updating a configuration of a websheet. A client receives a web page including the websheet from a server. The websheet includes data values stored in a relational database table. The table includes a first set of data values displayed in cells of the websheet in response to the client receiving the web page. The table also includes a second set of data values associated with the websheet configuration. Second set data values are not displayed in the websheet in response to the client receiving the web page. A form displaying the second set is received by the client. Second set data values are updated on the form to provide an updated websheet configuration. With its updated configuration, the websheet is displayed at the client and allows data entry to modify or add first set data values.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for detecting, commanding and controlling diverse home devices currently connected to a home network. An interface is provided for accessing the home devices that are currently connected to a home network. According to the method, a device link file is generated, wherein the device link file identifies home devices that are currently connected to the home network. A device link page is created, wherein the device link page contains a device button that is associated with each home device that is identified in the device link file. A hyper-text link is associated with each device button, wherein the hyper-text link provides a link to an HTML page that is contained on the home device that is associated with the device button, and the device link page is displayed on a browser based home device.

Abstract: Key terms for similar passages from a large corpus are identified and used to enhance searching and browsing the corpus. The corpus contains multiple documents such as the text of books. Browsing by concept is supported by identifying a set of similar passages or quotations in documents stored in the corpus and assigning key terms to passages which links conceptually related passages together. The context of each passage instance is identified and can include, for example, the text surrounding the passage. The contexts of all similar passage instances are analyzed in order to identify key terms for the similar passage. The related key terms are analyzed to identify relationships among the key terms from different similar passage sets. The key terms can be used as a basis for navigating the documents in the corpus. The key terms enable browsing the documents in the corpus by concepts referenced in the documents.

Abstract: A method for presenting a page, having a set of links, on a data processing system is provided. Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and methodology to facilitate collaboration and communications between entities such as between parties to a communication, automated applications and components, and/or combinations thereof. The systems and methods of the present invention include a service that supports collaboration and communication by learning predictive models that provide forecasts of one or more aspects of a user's presence and availability. Presence forecasts include a user's current location or future locations at different levels of location precision and of the availability to users of different devices or applications. Availability assessments include inferences about the cost of interrupting a user in different ways and a user's current or future access to one or more communication channels that may be supported by one or more devices with appropriate capabilities.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for processing a set of links in a document. In response to receiving the document, the set of links in the document is displayed as being validated. The set of links are then processed to determine whether the links are valid or invalid. Whenever one of the links in the set of links is identified as being valid, the display of the link is changed to indicate that the link is valid. Whenever a link in the set of links is identified as being invalid, the display of that link is changed to indicate that this link is invalid.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to the automatic provision of “bubble links” for accessing data services and selectable elements in a GUI of a computing device. The present invention includes the provision of a renderer to a computing device equipped to automatically present bubble links associated with input characters to a user of the computing device to improve the ease of use in accessing data services and selectable elements using the computing device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating items on a physical document and a method for creating a geographical link from an electronic document to the physical document. The geographical link is created by encoding, in a geographic link to the physical document, geographic coordinates of a referenced item in the electronic document. The electronic document is not derived from the physical document. Locating items on the physical document includes calibrating an opto-touch foil that is aligned on the physical document, including processing a calibration location included in locations appearing in the physical document and referred to in the electronic document. For each location, foil coordinates of the opto-touch foil corresponding to where each location appears in the physical document are computed utilizing geographic coordinates of each location and a generated calibration relationship between the geographic coordinates of the calibration location and calibration foil coordinates of the opto-touch foil.

Abstract: Prominence data resulting from user interaction with a hyperlink on a page may be stored in one or more repositories. Prominence data may be collected automatically when the user views a page or clicks on a hyperlink without requiring separate action from the user to accomplish storage or retrieval. The prominence data may further include a display parameter that denotes a level of prominence that is usable to affect the display of a hyperlink. A prominence score used to determine the display parameter may be calculated by dividing a count of click-throughs by a count of page views of the page containing the hyperlink. Other score calculations may be used. User feedback may be incorporated into the score calculation and may be collected through a toolbar, popup window, or other feedback-collecting mechanism.

Abstract: A user interface architecture wherein user content and user interface are composed of documents with links is described. Links have properties that indicate how links should be displayed. Link display may depend upon characteristics of the linked-to frame. Commands are implemented as links that link to command code. The display format of a document page depends upon the path a user navigated in order to get to the displayed page. User content documents and user interface documents are both displayed in a single viewing frame. A non-linear navigation history is maintained such that a user can navigate along a first path, back up using a previous link, navigate along a second path, back up along the second path using the previous link, and re-navigate along the first path again using a next link. Every document page to which a user navigates is saved in the user's navigation history.

On the target platform, the collection artifact containing an instance of the selected artifact is instantiated, and each instantiation of the selected artifact instance contains attributes, characteristics, and a replica of the selected artifact's content.

Abstract: An access outcome feedback method for determining a jump destination sorting ratio which is a ratio for jumping to each of plural sites, the plural sites becoming a jump destination of a specified hyperlink and storing identical contents, apparatus, and recording medium. The other electronic files could be portions of a specific electronic book, such as a Table of Contents. The other electronic files could also exist external to a specific electronic book. The electronic links may be created by the book publisher or may be subscriber-defined. The links may use standard programming language such as hypertext markup language (HTML). The links may be established through use of a relational database.

Abstract: A system, method, and related computer program for automatically cataloging Web elements, such as text and color, in a Web document for use by those performing searches for Web documents containing specific Web elements. The present invention allows users to scan Web elements into a Web site database where they are automatically cataloged for future searches of the particular element data. Searchers can search for a source document containing a particular color and/or text. Users may enter values related to scanned-in Web elements on source documents, such as an alternate color that may be used in addition to or instead of the scanned in color on said source document. Web elements or graphics are cataloged in a manner that allows users to query an entire set of objects quickly by accessing the database values. A user is able to automatically change text or color values on a global basis. Alternate values entered into the Web site database override Web element data previously scanned into the database.

Abstract: A method includes determining, in response to focus being set on a link referencing a resource, one or more properties of the resource referenced by the link. Data is selected corresponding to one or more of a plurality of tactile feedback patterns based on the properties. Tactile feedback is enabled corresponding to the one or more tactile feedback patterns based at least in part on the data. An electronic device includes memories having a set of instructions and processors coupled to the memories. The processors are configured by the instructions to determine, in response to focus being set on a link referencing a resource, properties of the resource referenced by the link, to select data corresponding to one or more tactile feedback patterns based on the properties, and to enable tactile feedback corresponding to the one or more tactile feedback patterns.
