Abstract: Methods and systems are described for personalizing communication items. An example system may include a personalized communication manager including a template information manager configured to obtain template information associated with a personalized communication item via one or more application programming interfaces, and a hierarchical template manager configured to generate a hierarchical template including a description of an execution service associated with the personalized communication item based on the template information. The execution service may be configured to provide the personalized communication item to a target recipient based on the hierarchical template.

Abstract: A method for updating a configuration of a websheet. A client receives a web page including the websheet from a server. The websheet includes data values stored in a relational database table. The table includes a first set of data values displayed in cells of the websheet in response to the client receiving the web page. The table also includes a second set of data values associated with the websheet configuration. Second set data values are not displayed in the websheet in response to the client receiving the web page. A form displaying the second set is received by the client. Second set data values are updated on the form to provide an updated websheet configuration. With its updated configuration, the websheet is displayed at the client and allows data entry to modify or add first set data values.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for comparing blank forms represented in a digital format to digitized filled-in forms are described. Different errors are attributed different weights when attempting to correlate regions of blank and filled-in forms. Foreground pixels in the blank form which are not found in a corresponding portion of a filled-in form are attributed greater error significance than foreground pixels, e.g., pixels which may correspond to added text, found in the filled-in form which correspond to a background pixel value in the blank form. A virtual filled-in form including content, e.g., pixel values, from the filled-in form is generated from the content of the filled-in form and pixel value location mapping information determined from comparing the blank and filled-in forms. Various analysis is performed on a block basis, but in some embodiments the final pixel mapping to the virtual form is performed on a pixel by pixel rather than a block basis.

Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided a documentation system including an augmenting mechanism that elicits more accurate conclusions through the analysis of entered information and predetermined criteria. The present invention also provides for a method of documentation based upon the augmenting mechanism and a method of augmenting to calculate more accurate conclusions based upon all entered information and related predetermined criteria. Additionally, the present invention includes a software program for operating the documentation system and method for the operation of the augmenting mechanism. The present invention provides for a computerized documentation entry system for determining more accurate conclusions including a software program having an augmenting mechanism and a graphic user interface for displaying, accessing and interacting with users of the documentation system.

Abstract: The present invention relates to improvements in the generation of an authoring file, readable by an authoring program of a DVD-Video or other interaction video media, that defines the playback structure of the content residing in a given disc's “authored content zone” and also defines the location of the assets that make up the disc's “presentation data.” The improvements allow generation of an authoring file that references assets that are within the authored content zone of the medium. This allows the authoring “project” from which the final DVD-Video disc image was created to be reopened in a compatible authoring program—and to be modified by such a program—without reference to any of the original source materials.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for customizing forms of a medical information data base system to meet the needs of a specific medical practice where the needs includes conditions such as types of medical situations encountered, types of patients. The forms are linked to data and images, such as radiology images, that are stored within the data base system. By storing the customized forms in the data base system they are available for future recall. These forms supply necessary information and images upon user input of required criteria that are needed for analysis of a patient and the practitioner's diagnosis.

Abstract: A system and method capable of identifying that a node of an extensible markup language (XML) document is editable using an element of an electronic-form template is described. In at least some embodiments, the system and method are capable of determining operations that are permitted for the identified node using another element of the electronic-form template.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for inserting an object in a void region in an existing object. A user locates the void region by determining whether the insertion point for the object is outside of an edit region. If the insertion point is outside of the edit region, the user is in a void region. The user then inserts the object in the void region. The size of the void region dynamically changes based on the size of the inserted object. The object may be inserted using a computer keyboard or a pen. The inserted object may be text, ink, or any other type of object.

Abstract: A system updates a portable processing device with the latest version of customized data collection forms and associated data for use in acquisition of particular types of data for communication to a remote clinical information database. A system for providing forms for use in data collection by a portable processing device includes a form creator for creating an electronic form for use in collecting data, in response to user command. The system includes a repository of created electronic forms and a form version detector for detecting whether a newer version of a form currently stored in a portable processing device is available. A communication processor initiates communication of data representing a newer version form derived from the repository to the portable processing device in response to detection of availability of the newer version.

Abstract: A common text framework for application programs having documents of primarily text and input devices for entering and editing text of such documents is disclosed. The framework provides for the interaction of applications and handlers for input devices, and includes a text store interface and a text input processor interface. The former interface permits an application having a document of primarily text to expose the document as an abstraction. The latter interface permits a handler for an input device to access the abstraction of the document and to insert additional text into the document.

Abstract: A system and method for selective form configuration. According to an embodiment of the invention, an engine retrieves a form template from a data store, the form template specifying a plurality of form elements, parses the form template to identify one or more configurable form elements from the plurality of form elements, presents to a user via a user interface one or more selectable options specifying configuration settings to govern modifications of the one or more identified configurable form elements, receives from the user interface a selection of the one or more options provided by the user, generates a descriptor identifying the selected options provided by the user, and associates the descriptor with the form template.

Abstract: A forms engine allows data sharing between customizable on-line forms, such as college admissions applications. Before applying, an applicant opens an account with a third party application servicer. After the applicant completes an application for one institution, the data is saved in a data base and automatically populates fields in subsequent application forms. The form for each institution is created from a form description file. Each form is branded for its institution and forms for different institutions differ in appearance and content so that the presence of the third party servicer is transparent to the applicant. The system is extensible without programming, allowing new applicant attributes to be readily incorporated into the system and allowing the content and appearance of the application to be readily changed by changing the description file.

Abstract: A form user interface modification engine for use in customizing forms of an application is provided. The modification engine includes an export component which retrieves a first binary format form for customization. The export component deserializes the first binary format form and converts the first binary format form into a first XML format form. An import component of the modification engine receives a customized XML format form created using the first XML format form and serializes the customized XML format form. The customized XML format form is then stored as an XML layer with a reference to the associated binary format form.
