Abstract: An information processing device prints a link source webpage and a link target webpage so that (i) it is easy to grasp, from a printout of these webpages, that these webpages are associated with each other, and (ii) the printout can be easily organized. MFP 1 displays a webpage using a web browser, stores image data of the webpage currently displayed (S2), and detects whether this webpage has been switched to another webpage upon a user operation (e.g., a click operation) (S3:YES). Upon this page switch, MFP 1 stores image data of the other webpage, which is now currently displayed (S4). When a print instruction is issued (S5:YES), MFP 1 enlarges/reduces images of the webpages previously and currently displayed so they can be printed on the same sheet in proper sizes, generates a print image showing the enlarged/reduced images of these webpages (S9), and prints the generated print image (S10).

Abstract: A CPU selects multiple objective image data to be pasted on ornamental image data, analyzes the selected multiple objective image data, and rates the image qualities of the respective image data. The CPU specifies the number of plural layout locations included in the ornamental image data and the priority order of the plural layout locations, and allocates the multiple objective image data to the plural layout locations in the ornamental image data, based on the specified priority order and the ratings of the multiple objective image data. The CPU executes image quality adjustment with regard to the multiple objective image data allocated to the plural layout locations and pastes the quality-adjusted image data on the ornamental image data according to layout control information, so as to generate resulting output image data.

Abstract: Apparatus, methods and software for creating resolution-independent display of Internet (Web) content to allow Web pages to be scaled (zoomed) and panned for better viewing and/or to fit any resolution or screen size. According to one aspect, novel client-side processing of markup language-based Web content is provided that employs a rendering engine to interpret original page layout information. The page layout information is scaled and employed to enable the Web content to be rapidly rendered, zoomed, and panned. According to another aspect, display lists are generated to provide further enhancements in rendering speed. According to other aspects, bounding boxes are generated and scaled to lay out text and/or images on scaled Web content that is used to facilitate browsing of Web pages with zooming and panning.

Abstract: The invention provides a layout-rule generation system suitable for reflecting the layout of an existing document to the result of automatic layout. A layout unit can generate a layout rule on the basis of the positional relationship of at least two of multiple split regions in an electronic document and generate a layout template on the basis of the electronic document and register the generated template in a template registration DB in association with the generated layout rule. The layout unit can select layout elements from a layout-element registration DB and arranges the selected layout elements in the layout region according to the layout rule and the layout template generated for the same electronic document.

A visual display and a touch interface are disposed on at least one of the major surfaces. A processor is operably coupled to the visual display and touch screen. Abstract: Methods and apparatus for imaging systems according to various aspects of the present invention provide a system for making physical copies of images and, substantially concurrently, generating electronic images. The imaging system suitably includes a scanner and a control system. The scanner makes copies of the documents or other images and substantially concurrently stores image data corresponding to images. The control system controls the scanning process and/or the handling of the generated images.

In a control file, associating the finishing commands with levels. Using the control file, the input format file and the input document data file the following are automatically generated by a computer program module. a) an output format file that contains the finishing commands in callable groups, and b) an output document data file containing the variable data and group calls associated by at least one of range-by-range and sub-range-by-sub-range.

Abstract: Data for electronic images is stored in a server. Metadata is assigned to each image file and categorizes each image according to one or more schemes. Possible metadata schemes include image date, one or more image subjects, and image location. The image files may then be searched based on the assigned metadata. Images may be stored in a database that includes at least one virtual folder corresponding to each metadata scheme, with each image having at least one entry in each folder. Each folder may further have subfolders that correspond to sub-categories of a categorization scheme. Each image may then have an entry in each subfolder which describes a part of the image metadata. A date search interface allows a user to select a year of interest, then a month, and then a day. A location search interface allows a user to select a subregion of a displayed region.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for generating a quick reference handbook for use on a mobile platform. The method may involve providing a machine-readable medium for use with a processor having a memory. The machine-readable medium may provide instructions for causing the processor to generate a quick reference handbook (QRH). The QRH may be created through the use of checklists organized in accordance with a plurality of grouping schemes that include at least a plurality of: Immediate Action; Systems; and Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) messages. Differentiating criteria may also be used for decisions steps, action steps, and navigation steps within the checklists to thereby enable a user to discriminate between the steps.

Abstract: A document publishing system includes a layout quality tagger (40) for tagging candidate layouts (36) of selected content (32) with overall layout quality criterion values using an overall layout quality criterion (16, 18) combining a set of component quality criteria as a weighted linear combination of kernels. Abstract: Generated is a template edition screen on which to display components of a report as modules by OSD by use of icons. One of the icons is selected by use of a pointing device including a mouse. By a drag-and-drop operation, the icon is placed at a desired position in an output format setup area formed in the same screen. The icon is set in a desired size by another drag-and-drop operation. Details of a module shown by the icon thus placed can be set up in a detail setup area in the same screen. Information on a format thus set up is retained as a template through a retention function, and accordingly can be used easily by simply calling the information. Moreover, the retained template can be edited as well. This makes it possible not only to create a new template, but also to modify an existing template.

Abstract: Annotation engines are described for handling annotations added to a base document. The annotation engines automatically classify the type of annotations, including, but not limited to: a highlight annotation; a blob annotation (comprising an enclosing-type annotation); an underline annotation; a vertical bracket annotation; a call-out annotation; and a free-note annotation. The annotation engines accept input in the form of a hierarchical tree of document elements and generate an output in the form of a hierarchical tree of annotation elements. Among other uses, a reflow engine can use the output of the annotation engines to properly reposition annotations within a layout-modified base document.

Abstract: A system or method for minimally predictive feature identification is disclosed. For information management, an information collection including a set of features is received. A set of prediction values indicating a degree to which a first feature within the set of features predicts other features in the set is generated. The first feature as a minimally predictive feature is identified if each of the prediction values is within a predetermined range of threshold values.

Abstract: In a computer system that is configured to contain schema definitions for several data components, layout information for at least one of the data components is stored in the schema definition for the at least one data component. A method of providing display of data in a graphical user interface includes accessing layout information for a data component, the layout information being included in a schema definition for the data component, and providing, using the accessed layout information, an instance of the data component for display in a graphical user interface. A browser can parse XSD artifacts of reusable building blocks and generate a graphical user interface with the embedded relative layout information of every building block.

Abstract: Various technologies and techniques detect lists in vector graphics based documents and use them in meaningful ways. The system detects at least one list in a vector graphics based document using a set of rules. Pattern detection logic identifies characters, symbols, numbers, letters, and/or images that may start a list. Additional pattern detection logic determines if a list exists. The system can identify and parse bulleted lists, numbered or lettered lists, and nested lists that are any combination of both. Once identified, the content is translated into a modified format. The content can be output to a destination application in the modified format that is more suitable for output or use by the destination application.

Abstract: Preparing of information about a content source is disclosed. One method in accordance with the information preparing creates item information on a first component pertaining to an arbitrary content source, incorporates the created information on the first component into a first structure element (e.g., tag), creates a second structure element containing information making display layout information for the arbitrary content source accessible, creates information on at least one component pertaining to the arbitrary content source other than the first component, and incorporates the created information on the at least one component into at least one third structure element included within the second structure element.

Abstract: During an interaction with a web page, user interface events are recorded and augmented with page layout data from the document object model. An event stream is formed with the page layout data and communicated to an event server. The event server processes the event stream to determine a location at which the events were generated and determines attention data for each event stream that indicates where a user's attention was directed during an interaction. The attention data for a plurality of event streams is aggregated to determine common or popular areas of interest of the web page.

Abstract: Mobile devices enabled to support resolution-independent scalable display of Internet (Web) content to allow Web pages to be scaled (zoomed) and panned for better viewing on smaller screen sizes. The mobile devices employ software-based processing of original Web content, including HTML-based content, XML, cascade style sheets, etc. to generate scalable content. The scalable content and/or data derived therefrom are then employed to enable the Web content to be rapidly rendered, zoomed, and panned. Display lists may also be employed to provide further enhancements in rendering speed.

Abstract: A method for computing apparatus to create a page with a plurality of information items laid out upon it is described. A plurality of information items and a definition of one or more groups of information items to be formed on the page are received, as is a candidate layout of the information items on the page. Perceptual distances between information items in the candidate layout are determined, the perceptual distances representing both physical distance and graphical variation between relevant information items. It is determined from the perceptual distances whether the candidate layout satisfies predetermined criteria such that the candidate layout is perceived as visually representing the one or more groups. If the candidate layout is not perceived as visually representing the one or more groups, it is modified or regenerated until it does so.

Abstract: The present application discloses a method, apparatus and system for processing graphic objects in a flow diagram. Said method comprises obtaining a flow diagram and execution stage information generated when executing said flow diagram; obtaining a layout policy, wherein said layout policy at least designates the conditions for determining a primary path in the flow diagram using the execution stage information; determining the primary path using the execution stage information based on the layout policy; and displaying prominently said primary path during displaying said flow diagram. Owing to the present invention, the elements, such as a primary path, in a diagram in which a user takes interest can be found by the user easily to facilitate the user to understand the diagram. Furthermore, the diagram automatically arranged using the present invention is usually clear enough so that it is almost not required to be manually adjusted by the user.

Abstract: In a large storage area network (SAN), many administrative tasks perform various operations. Managing the tasks can be a formidable activity. A network management application, operable to identify and manipulate the tasks, organizes the tasks in a common graphical user interface (GUI) which allows task management from a single operator console. The task manager provides a GUI having display panes for managing the tasks. The task manager allows selection and invocation of tasks, in which the same task is identifiable by each of the plurality of attributes. The task manager displays the hierarchy of tasks in a task tree, including selectable task icons, in a task tree pane. The task icons are expandable into the corresponding subtasks and operations in a task list pane, and status details about the operations and task status are displayed in a context detail pane. An operator traverses the task tree to drill down into the operation and completion status of tasks in the task tree.

Abstract: The present invention provides a computerized method and computer program product for automating the traditional markup process such that changes to an original digitized document are displayed on the face of the original digitized document and may be printed as displayed. This invention automates the markup process by adding markup clusters to the original digitized document. A markup cluster comprises three elements: a reference graphic, a white space graphic, and a connector. The reference graphic indicates the location and type of change to existing text. The white space graphic indicates the change in text and is displayed in the margin or white space. The connector is a graphic that does not cross over text and indicates a relationship or “connection” between the reference graphic and the white space graphic. The resulting markup cluster is displayed on the original digitized document and optionally may be printed as displayed.

Abstract: A method for utilizing a graphical user interface for concurrent programming of multiple feature operations to a single production job in a controller for a production system includes presenting options on the user interface for the selection of job properties or queue properties, with queue properties defined as default values for the virtual device to which the job will be submitted and job properties defined as job feature selection options. The job feature selection options may be hidden or displayed to enable the selection of valid job feature combinations only. Toggle controls are utilized for job feature options whose operation is limited by previously selected job feature options. The application of any valid combination of selected job feature options on the completed production job is illustrated on a dynamic graphic.

Abstract: Relative attributes of floating objects are disclosed. A user may obtain a floating object and specify that an attribute of the floating object is relative to a layout object of a page. In one aspect, the magnitude of relativity is determined, and the attribute of the floating object is maintained in accordance with the magnitude of relativity. In this manner, a page remains dynamically robust during page formatting operations and/or changes in page layout.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for efficiently handling navigational state by separating the latest navigational state into a base navigational state part and a delta navigational state part. The base navigational state which describes that part of the latest navigational state that is identical across all URLs is encoded in the header of the page markup to be submitted to the client's browser. The delta navigational part that describes the semantics of that specific URL is encoded in its associated URL. Each user interaction using such URL causes the browser to submit the base part as well as the delta part. On the server side the base and delta part are being merged resulting in new navigation state serving as a base for the rendering of the new page. The navigational state is represented as a hierarchical tree-like structure that can be serialized efficiently and compressed by prior art compression techniques.

In one embodiment, the system includes an image input configured to receive related images, an image memory coupled to image input, an image processor coupled to image memory, and an album output coupled to image processor.
