Abstract: The present technology is a video recording system and method of recording a video while applying special effects in real time prior to and/or while recording. The system includes a processing unit in communication with a camera and a memory unit. The processor receives a raw video data at a native speed rate from the camera or remote video stream, and an input from an interface. The system determines if the native speed rate of the raw video data is to be changed, and if so then modifies at least one frame in the raw video data to create a modified video data at a modified speed rate that is different to the native speed rate. The system then generates an output video recording data and writes it to memory. This allows for the continuous recording of video from the camera or video feed at different speed rates without altering camera operations or settings.

Abstract: Disclosed are a digital media asset selection interface and method. The interface may comprise a plurality of digital media assets that are displayed to a user such that the user can navigate the digital media assets in a first direction and a second direction, such as a horizontal direction and a vertical direction. In a more particular embodiment, the digital media assets are listed horizontally such that assets listed to the left of a selection pane represent a “past” aspect and assets listed to the right of a selection pane represent a “future” aspect. The digital media assets listed vertically are related to one another in some way.

Abstract: As part of a communication session, a wireless source device can transmit audio and video data to a wireless sink device, and the wireless sink device can transmit user inputs received at the wireless sink device back to the wireless source device. In this manner, a user of the wireless sink device can control the wireless source device and control the content that is being transmitted from the wireless source device to the wireless sink device. As part of transmitting user input to the source device, the sink device can generate a data packet with a data packet header that includes a timestamp flag indicating the presence of a timestamp field, and the source device can process the data packet based on a timestamp in the timestamp field.

Abstract: User devices such as electronic book readers may be configured to provide a particular device experience. This device experience may comprise settings of a user interface, states of one or more applications or modules executing on the device, timing of events, and so forth. Settings, state information, timing, and so forth describing the device experience may be stored as an experience template. This experience template may be distributed to other user devices, allowing those other devices to experience the same or similar experiences.

Abstract: One embodiment provides a method of identifying a location of a target object within a plurality of images, the method including: utilizing at least one processor to execute computer code that performs the steps of: receiving a plurality of images; receiving position information indicating a central location, wherein the central location comprises a location that the plurality of images were taken; receiving direction information indicating a position of a target object with respect to the central location, wherein one of the plurality of images contains the target object; and determining, using the position information and the direction information, a target location, wherein the target location comprises a location of the target object. The first content group is oriented in a first direction. The system then switches from the first selected content to a second selected content in a second content group based on a second switching operation. The second content group is oriented in a second direction. The first content group includes content grouped according to a first standard, and the second content group includes content grouped according to a second standard that is different from the first standard, and the first selected content satisfies both the first standard and the second standard.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a process that reduces a sampling size of a total population of on-line social network users based on a comparison of seed information to a population of on-line social network users. The reduced sampling of on-line social network users is compared to a social graph of the on-line social network users, wherein the social graph is obtained from an algorithm applied to the reduced sampling of the on-line social network users. An outlier is determined in the reduced sampling of on-line social network users based on a characterizing of a cluster of social network users. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

When an operation inputting section accepts a selective operation input for selection of one of plural processing functions, plural representation images individually representing plural processing object items of the processing function are displayed in an array along one direction of a display screen such that one of the representation images can be selected as a noticed representation image by an inputting operation through the operation inputting section. A decision section decides whether plural processing object items of the selected processing function are divided in a plurality of groups. If the processing object items are divided in groups, then the group name of the group to which the processing object item of the noticed representation image belongs is displayed in the proximity of the noticed representation image.

In one aspect, a first set of subjective attributes for a first entity is identified based on a reaction to the first entity. A classifier is trained on a set of input-output mappings, wherein the set of input-output mappings comprises an input-output mapping whose input is based on a feature vector for the first entity and whose output is based on the first set of subjective attributes. A feature vector for a second entity is then provided to the trained classifier to obtain a second set of subjective attributes for the second entity.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for detecting and ranking entities identified in screen content displayed on a mobile device. For example, a method includes receiving an image captured from a mobile device display for a mobile application and determining a window that includes a chronological set of images, the images each representing a respective screen captured from a display of a mobile device and having an associated timestamp. The method also includes identifying entities appearing in images in a first portion of the window using text for images in a remaining portion of the window as context to disambiguate ambiguous entity references.

The position control input may be determined to move a position indicator into the associated smart snap area for the smart snap point. Use of the content item may be resumed with the content player from the smart snap point.

A request for a dynamically generated media trailer is received by a computing environment over the network. Clips are extracted from media files or previews associated with the media files according to media titles in lists and/or tags identified by a user. A customized media trailer is generated by coalescing the clips extracted from the media file or a preview associated with the media file according to a determined order. The media trailer is communicated to one or more client device over the network.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for converting an animated sequence of images into a document page is described. In some embodiments, the method includes accessing a first file comprising a plurality of images and attribute data associated with displaying the plurality of images, creating a second file using data from the first file and for at least one of the plurality of images, creating a content partition on a corresponding document page of the second file using the attribute data.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for the dynamic creation and presentation of user-specified VOD content consisting of multiple VOD clips as a passive viewing experience. For one embodiment, a user selects a set of VOD clips from a list or other selection presentation and the selected VOD clips are presented back-to-back. For one embodiment of the invention, the user may reorder the presentation sequence of the selected VOD clips. Embodiments of the invention thereby allow a user to dynamically create and present a user-specific, passive viewing presentation.

Abstract: Data structures, components, runtime viewers and methods are described for integrating wrapped packages of cards into various social media feeds and for integrating social media feeds into wraps. In some embodiments, a wrap identifier or cover is provided within a social media feed. In response to selection of the wrap identifier a runtime viewer is initiated and a descriptor that defines the selected wrap is obtained. The runtime viewer creates a wrap instance based on the descriptor. The instance may be displayed in-line within the social media feed, in an overlay frame, a new browser tab or using other suitable mechanisms. Preferably, each card in the wrap is rendered at the same portrait aspect ratio. Within each card, the relative positioning of the card content is immutable. In a separate aspect, a wrap package may include a social media card arranged to display a social media feed.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for operating a user interface, and a recording medium using the same are provided. First, a plurality of user interfaces is provided and one of them is displayed on a touch screen of a portable electronic device. Then, the touch screen is used for detecting a touch signal. When the touch signal is moved toward a first direction, the currently displayed user interface is switched to another one. When the touch signal is moved toward a second direction, an item of the currently displayed user interface is switched to another item. Accordingly, a more intuitive and convenient manner for operating the user interface is provided for the user.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a media production application. The application receives a script of a media project and parses the script to identify (i) story sections of the media project and (ii) characters in the media project. The application automatically creates data structures for the story sections and the characters, and associations between the story sections and the characters. The application receives several different types of data related to production of a media project and automatically schedules production activities for the media project based on the different types of data. For each location at which one or more story sections will be filmed, the application receives a photo of the location. The application displays a graphical outline of the media project in which each story section is represented by a thumbnail of the photo of the location at which the story section will be filmed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for providing task-based information are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes identifying a set of previous interactive sessions for a particular task. For each identified interactive session in the set of previous interactive sessions, a set of implements used during the interactive session are identified based on content of the interactive session. At least one implement in the identified set of implements is classified as a required implement for the particular task. The classification is based, at least in part, on a portion of the previous interactive sessions in which the implement was identified. Classified implements are indexed according to the particular task. Data identifying the indexed implements are provided in response to receipt of a search query referencing the particular task.

Abstract: Method of managing video snapshot of receiving bitstreams of a video and bitstream parameters of the received bitstreams from a server through a network channel. The electronic device is connected to the server. The server encodes the video into an encoded file using an encoder of the server. The encoded file comprises a plurality of bitstreams. The plurality of bitstreams in the encoded file comprising a plurality of enhancement layers. According to a selection of a user of the electronic device, a snapshot grade is determined. According to the received bitstreams and the determined snapshot grade, additional enhancement layers which are not comprised in the received bitstreams are acquired from the encoded file in the server through the network channel. Based on the acquired additional enhancement layers, a video snapshot is generated.

Abstract: Techniques pertaining to efficient scrolling a list are disclosed. One of the features of the efficient scrolling is to provide a graphic user interface that displays items in the list so that a user may scroll the list using a scroll wheel. After an item is highlighted for a predefined time, an information panel is automatically displayed to show hidden information associated with the item. The information panel is superimposed in an area of the graphic user interface, without obstructing the highlighted item.

Abstract: A video imaging system for use with or in a mobile video capturing system (e.g., an airplane or UAV). A multi-camera rig containing a number of cameras (e.g., 4) receives a series of mini-frames (e.g., from respective field steerable mirrors (FSMs)). The mini-frames received by the cameras are supplied to (1) an image registration system that calibrates the system by registering relationships corresponding to the cameras and/or (2) an image processor that processes the mini-frames in real-time to produce a video signal. The cameras can be infra-red (IR) cameras or other electro-optical cameras. By creating a rigid model of the relationships between the mini-frames of the plural cameras, real-time video stitching can be accelerated by reusing the movement relationship of a first mini-frame of a first camera on corresponding mini-frames of the other cameras in the system.

Abstract: System and method for providing a probabilistic order of tiles relative to a current section of a video that a user is viewing. A cache implementation uses this ordering to decide what tiles to evict from the cache, i.e. which tiles will probably not be accessed within a particular timeframe, but not when to evict (this is up to the cache implementation). A cache implementation can also use the prioritized list of the present embodiment to pre-fetch tiles.

Abstract: For a media-editing application that creates composite presentations, a novel grouping tool for grouping several media clips in the composite presentation by drawing a boundary about the media clips is described. The media editing application includes a composite display area for displaying media clips that are part of the composite presentation. The composite display area includes a timeline and one or more tracks that span the timeline for holding one or more media clips. The grouping tool provides a drawing tool that allows a user to draw a boundary in the composite display area. The drawing tool includes a moveable drawing element that moves about the media clips in the composite display area in order to draw the boundary.

The graphical user interface can include a partial video stream displayed in a video display area on a touchscreen of the second-screen device and a contextual panel in an active display area on the touchscreen. The contextual panel can include content associated with the partial video stream. The displayed partial video stream can be associated with a video stream displayed by a primary display with the two displayed video streams being associated with the same content and substantially synchronized.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer readable-media for adaptive media playback based on destination. The method for adaptive media playback comprises determining one or more destinations, collecting media content that is relevant to or describes the one or more destinations, assembling the media content into a program, and outputting the program. In various embodiments, media content may be advertising, consumer-generated, based on real-time events, based on a schedule, or assembled to fit within an estimated available time. Media content may be assembled using an adaptation engine that selects a plurality of media segments that fit in the estimated available time, orders the plurality of media segments, alters at least one of the plurality of media segments to fit the estimated available time, if necessary, and creates a playlist of selected media content containing the plurality of media segments.

Abstract: A method includes initiating display of a rotatable video frame graphic at a display device. The rotatable video frame graphic enables seeking particular frames of multimedia content and includes a first representation associated with a first segment of the multimedia content and a second representation associated with a second segment of the multimedia content. The first representation is displayed in a first position and the second representation is displayed in a second position. The first position and the second position are arranged vertically with one position above the other position. The method further includes receiving a first input indicating a selection of a navigation control. The method also includes, in response to the first input, updating the rotatable video frame graphic to include a third representation associated with a third segment of the multimedia content and remove the first representation from the rotatable video frame graphic.

Abstract: A system and method for editing multimedia content. A server transmits multimedia content to a plurality of electronic devices. Each of the plurality of electronic devices enables a user to perform at least one action in relation to the multimedia content. A a voting engine gathers information concerning the actions performed by users in relation to the multimedia content transmitted to the electronic devices. In response to the information gathered by the voting engine, the multimedia content is modified based upon predefined criteria. The modified multimedia content is subsequently provided to later users.

Abstract: An electronic device with one or more processors, memory and a display obtains information about a first and second sequence of media items. The device plays an initially-displayed media item of the first sequence and while playing the initially-displayed media item in a respective region of the display, detects a media-change input. In response to the input, when the media-change input corresponds to movement in a first direction, the device ceases to play the initially-displayed media item in the respective region and plays a first media item that is adjacent to the initially-displayed media item in the first sequence. When the media-change input corresponds to movement in a second, different, direction, the device ceases to play the initially-displayed media item in the respective region of the display and plays a second media item in the respective region, where the second media item is from the second sequence of media items.
