Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for displaying a conversation summary is provided. The method may include providing a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to allow communication between a number of users. The method may also include displaying an invitation to join a conversation at the graphical user interface from at least one of the users and displaying a summary of the conversation in a tag cloud on a computing device. Numerous other variations and embodiments are also included within the scope of the present disclosure.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system includes a server that hosts webpages facilitating user interaction between multiple endpoints. The system monitors for a user input requesting initiation of a happy hour, and when the input is detected, modifies the webpages to alert users of the happy hour. The users are notified of which user initiated the happy hour, and are also notified that interaction incentives accumulate at an increased rate during the happy hour. The system also tracks user scorings that accumulate based on the user interaction, and enables certain website features based on these user scorings. The system also tracks ratings for user-uploaded objects and identifies top rated objects for displaying on webpages viewable by other users.

Abstract: Systems and methods for scheduling appointment reminders are based on multiple conditions including estimated travel time. An estimate of the time needed to travel between the user's location and the location of the appointment can be determined by retrieving location information from a global address list (GAL), a local address book of a calendaring application, from a map service, or other location determining technology. Users can subscribe to alert service to receive information regarding recent events such as traffic problems, flight delays, weather conditions, etc., which is then used in setting or modifying reminder times. Notifications can be generated for timing conflicts based on the estimated travel time. If the estimated travel time would require the user to leave a previous appointment early, or be late for a subsequent appointment, a notification can be generated to the user.

Abstract: Communications to be shared on social networks and other electronic modes of communication are presented in comic strip form. The comic strips are created with a simplified user interface and are formatted to be well-suited for display on a selected social network or other electronic facility. The comic strips are displayed in an embedded form directly in the social network or other facility, without the need for a user to go to a separate site to view the comic strip.

Abstract: A method for multiple users to jointly interact with web-based search results is provided. Selections of the search results by a user are immediately communicated to other users. Viewing options may be customized on a per-user basis for greater individual control over viewing the results. Results may be further acted upon to complete transactions. Individual results are easily referenced in chat windows. Status of query and transactions are communicated to all users.

Abstract: A file sharing method and a file sharing system are provided. The system includes a first file processing apparatus and a second file processing apparatus with wireless transmission function to transfer files therebetween. At first, the first file processing apparatus is coupled to the second file processing apparatus. The first file processing apparatus automatically or manually executes a file sharing software to receive desktop information of the second file processing apparatus, and the file sharing software integrates a desktop of the first file processing apparatus with the desktop information to generate a integrated desktop shown on the first file processing apparatus. The second file processing apparatus processes a file in response to a control operation of an icon on the integrated desktop.

Abstract: An address bar user interface control includes a plurality of interactive segments, each segment including one or more filters or selection criteria for selecting content from physical and/or virtual locations. A segment may include two or more filters or selection criteria which are logically combined such as by a logical “OR” operation. A user may select a child control associated with an interactive segment, i.e., a parent segment, to provide a list of selectable child filters or selection criteria. In response to selection of a child filter or selection criteria, an interactive segment representing the child filter or selection criteria is added to the address bar succeeding the parent segment and the interactive segments subsequent to the parent segment are removed.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to systems and methods of burning, snapshotting, streaming and curating geofeeds, each geofeed including a plurality of geofeed content items that are aggregated from a plurality of content providers using respective requests formatted specifically for individual ones of the plurality of content providers, where each individual set of a plurality of content is relevant to one or more geographically definable locations. Archives of a geofeed may be generated by burning portions or all of the geofeed content items and/or generating snapshots of geofeeds at different times. A real-time geofeed may be streamed by continuously or periodically obtaining newly available geofeed content items and updated a geofeed stream in real-time. Collections of geofeed content items may be curated in order to organize and follow geofeed content items of interest.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, system and/or computer program product automatically extends a collaboration window. An initiation of an interactive teleconference, which utilizes a collaboration window that is displayed on two communication devices, is detected. The topic of the interactive teleconference is determined by a starting context of the interactive teleconference. The topic is associated with a related application that provides supporting information for the interactive teleconference. This supporting information and/or associated application(s) are then displayed on one or both of the two communication devices.

Abstract: Techniques for creating new connections on a social network using gestures. A server receives a first fingerprint of a gesture detected on a device of a first user. The gesture is indicative of the first user initializing a new social networking connection with a second user. The first fingerprint is matched to a second fingerprint received from the second user. In response to the matching, a connection is initiated between the first and second users on a social network in response to the matching. The user devices include an accelerometer to detect the gesture.

Abstract: A method for specifying email recipients that includes specifying a first set of email recipients, a second set of email recipients, and a set operation. A third set of email recipients can be automatically is generated by performing the set operation upon the first set and the second set. Email can then be sent to this automatically generated third set of email recipients.

Abstract: Techniques for managing tags for communities are described herein. According to one embodiment, in response to tagging a document page with one or more tags, where the document page is displayed within a main window of a browser, the one or more tags are associated with one or more communities selected from a list of available communities. The one or more tags are then stored in a storage having information linking with the document page tagged with the one or more tags and the associated with and published within one or more communities such that a member of the selected communities is able to search within the storage based on the one or more tags to identify and retrieve the document page tagged by the one or more tags. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

User generated content is received from one or more disparate communication devices and provided for presentation on at least one of the communication devices. Polling data is also received from at least one of the end-users of the communication devices viewing the user generated content, and tabulated to generate poll results displayable on the communication devices.

Abstract: A text file is generated by a plurality of users. Comments associated with portions of the text file are inputted utilizing offline computing units. A first and a second location of first and second portions of the text file are automatically obtained. A first review data packet (RDP), and a second RDP are automatically generated. The first and second RDPs consist of one or more comment fields, one or more separators, and one or more effort fields. The comment field consists of comment, author, date, line number, severity, priority, open status, and category. The first and second RDPs are distributed, without the text file, to a third computing unit which utilizes the first and second RDPs to display, respectively, the first comment together with the first portion, and the second comment together with the second portion.

Abstract: Techniques are provided that allow users to collaborate in relationship to data views, application displays, applications or events. A user can type in a text view related to a specific view in an application display, and the information is shared with other users that take part in sharing that view. A user that expresses an interest in an event is notified about the event and has the capability to interact, in relation to the event, with other users (e.g. by text). The particular form of interaction (and sharing) can be selectively specified. This interaction is comparable to a dynamic bulletin board where the subject is event driven, and where a user can specify who are allowed to participate. In the case of an event interest(s), users specify their interest (e.g. in other user application events or system events) and the system automatically alerts them to the occurrence of the event.

Abstract: Techniques to provide a topic-based social environment are disclosed. A topic-based social environment may generate a user account and a user profile. The topic-based social environment may allow a user to follow other users, discussions, content, and specific activities of interest. The environment may retrieve contributions of followed entities according to the user's profile and display the contributions in one user interface. The environment may generate a feed from the retrieved contributions to display to a user. The environment may allow a user to build a profile that is specific to the topic of the community. Techniques are provided in which a template relating to a story, and a set of rules governing collaborative writing of the story by multiple user authors, are obtained. Writing contributions, for integration into the story, may be obtained from each of the user authors. A completed story is obtained, in which forming the completed story includes integrating the writing contributions. Access to the story, such as in the form of an electronic book, is provided to users, such as for a fee.

Feed data associated with a social networking service may be displayed in a multidimensional grid orientation that efficiently uses available display space, while improving the user experience. The feed data can be presented in a multidimensional grid orientation that leaves little empty display space, thus allowing efficient use of the display space. The feed data presented in the multidimensional grid orientation also can be dynamically updated when new feed data is received.

Abstract: Systems and methods for the organization of hierarchical events are disclosed. A parent event in a first calendar application workspace classifies a hierarchy of events. A child event child event corresponds to a hierarchy of events. Identification of the parent event and a new child event results in the display of the new child event in a second calendar application workspace, the new child event being a scheduled event in the hierarchy of events that does not indicate a calendaring conflict with the parent event. A collaborative organization environment for discussion concerning the new child event may be provided.

Abstract: Method, software, and system for efficiently enabling n-way collaborative work using common software over a network of computers. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, each participant in a collaborative session starts up a common software application, which includes a collaboration component. This collaboration component is used to establish a common session that includes all interested parties. The collaboration component replicates operations performed on any one instance of said application to all other instances participating in the same session, so the effect is as if all members of the session were sharing a single instance of the application on a single computer. In one aspect, the collaboration component also supports broadcast of audio and video over a computer network, to enable session participants to see and/or hear each other, and further includes other features that support collaborative work.

Abstract: A 3D social media platform is provided that allows users to share and experience a realistic social viewing experience with members of their social network. More specifically, a user shares a virtual 3D social venue with one or more members within their social network (e.g., Facebook friends) for the purpose of experiencing the content (e.g., movie, television, video game) as if each of the members were physically together in the venue. The user selects 2D media content, such as a web page, from an external and independent source (such as a web browser) to instantiate onto a virtual screen, window, or other viewing surface inside the virtual 3D social venue. The instantiated media content is displayed to the user and any invited friends within the context of the virtual three-dimensional space.

Abstract: There is provided a method and system to present event information to a user of an electronic messaging and organizing system. An integrated list of individual events is defined to include message-related events (e.g. email, SMS, phone logs, etc.) and time-organization-related events (future or current appointments, alarms). The integrated list is displayed in a graphical user interface on a display of an electronic device to provide a snapshot of the user's activities.

Abstract: Structured information about nodes may be generated and shared using sub-nodes. A node in a social networking system may be associated with sub-nodes that are definable by the node owner, such as menu items for a restaurant or songs in playlists for an artist. Users of the system may interact with the sub-nodes, and the interactions may be presented back on the page to a user, aggregated according to the user's connections in the social networking system (e.g., which songs your friends listened to the most by the artist, which menu items were consumed the most). Users may associate other sub-nodes to the node, such as identifying other menu items served by a restaurant, and the node owner may confirm these associations. Location awareness functionalities may be used to inform a user of highly recommended sub-nodes nearby as indicated by other users of the social networking system.

Abstract: One exemplary embodiment uses templates that define certain features of a given service type, wherein the features are common to all services of that service type. The template can be configured by a user to obtain a service definition for the given service. The service definition is passed to a programmability layer and provides enough information that the programmability layer can construct the various monitors, rules, classes and tasks required to monitor the given service without further customization by the user. In one embodiment, the user can also customize the service definition, a desired, in order to obtain additional monitoring.

The method includes determining if a user of the electronic calendar application is within a specified distance of a location of an appointment corresponding to the calendar entry at a specified time prior to the appointment. Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to a computer-implemented interactive account management system operated in cooperation with a financial institution on behalf of multiple account holders. The interactive account management system may include a financial networking engine implemented by a processor for defining a financial network for each account holder and for identifying each member of an account holder financial network based on stored account information and account holder input. The system may additionally include interactive processing components for processing information to provide collaborative interaction between the members of the account holder financial network defined by the financial networking engine and user interface presentation tools for displaying financial guidance and collaborative interaction interfaces and inviting active participation from the financial network members.

Abstract: Method or system for allowing a social networking system to retain users of a social networking system by identifying low-activity users who are likely to become inactive/dormant users and prompting users to initiate interactions with the low-activity users. The low-activity users are identified by monitoring activities and interactions of the users via the social networking system. If the pattern of activities and interactions satisfy one or more criteria, a computer device for providing the social networking system initiates an intervention scheme where users are induced to initiate interactions with the low-activity users. In response to the interactions, the low-activity users are likely to resume interactions via the social networking system.

Using the determined contact identifiers a communication may be established with the individual.

Abstract: Community interaction during video viewing is provided. A video hosting website includes videos available for viewing. Users establish lists of friends, who are other users of the video hosting site. When a user logs on, her presence is made known by an interaction engine to her friends that are also logged in to the site. The user's activities are tracked and her friends are notified of those activities. Tracked activities may include viewing a video, rating a video, commenting on a video, uploading a video to the site, and adding a new friend. Friends are notified of these activities in one embodiment through one or more user interface elements. A user can select a user interface element to discover which of her friends are also watching the same video at that time. A user watching a video can summon her online friends to the watch page to watch collaboratively.

Abstract: A system and method for sharing annotations corresponding to media content among a plurality of members of a group over a communications network. The system generally includes at least one server coupled to the communications network and configured for receiving at least one annotation from a first group member corresponding to media content from the communications network; adding the at least one annotation to a database; accessing a list of members of the group, each member of the group having a user profile stored in memory; and automatically sending a notification to at least a second member of the group upon receipt of each annotation. The annotation comprises annotation content and a temporal identifier that identifies a segment of the media content to which the annotation corresponds, and the at least one server is configured for sending the annotation to at least the second group member and optionally a media stream including at least the segment of the media content with the annotation.
