Abstract: A method and system for processing email messages are disclosed. In at least one embodiment, the method includes receiving a first signal input indicative of a request that contents of a selected email message be displayed on a display associated with a client computer device, wherein the contents are stored in a memory device associated with a server computer device and include contents of at least one other email message. The method further includes causing displaying of the contents of the selected email message for reviewing by the user. The method additionally includes making a determination of whether the contents of the at least one other email message have been reviewed by the user during the user's review of the contents of the selected email message, and providing an indication regarding whether or to what extent the at least one other email message has been read based upon the determination.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus and computer readable storage media facilitate establishing an email thread utilizing an email application used by a client device that communicates with other client devices across a network, where the email thread includes at least one email circulated to a group of users over the network relating to a discussion topic. The email application is linked with a synchronous communication application so as to establish a real-time discussion between at least some of the users of the group in relation to the topic utilizing the synchronous communication application and so that each email of the email thread is accessible via a graphical user interface associated with the synchronous communication application.

Abstract: A method for organizing a message thread containing one or more messages. A root message and reply groupings are identified, each reply grouping depending from the root message. Each reply grouping has one or more child reply messages depending from a common parent message. The child reply messages within each reply grouping are ordered in chronological order based on the time of each of the one or more child reply messages was received or sent. The reply groupings are hierarchically ordering based on a relationship between the reply grouping and its parent message. A single display allows a user to view the message thread and the content of all of the messages in accordance with the hierarchical ordering.

Abstract: A method and email application enable email attachments to be viewed through a system external to the email application itself in accordance with select categories. The email application creates categories and categorizes the email attachments according to such categories. The email application then maps the categories into a format understandable by the external system for category information and provides the mapped categories to the external system in such format. In response to receiving a request from the external system for the contents of one of the mapped categories and in response to such category having no further subcategories, the email application identifies the email attachments under such category and maps the identified email attachments to file names. The file names are then provided to the external system as the contents of such category.

Abstract: An electronic device outputs on a display a plurality of communication representations. Each of the communication representations is associated with a different communication history between at least two electronic devices. The electronic device updates on the display at least one communication representation of the plurality of communication representations when an activity level associated with the at least one communication representation meets a threshold.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems are described for bumping a mobile device, such as a smart phone, against a fixed poster board display at a store to initiate a download of coupons, advertisements, or other benefits to the mobile device. Products can be rated by a user's up/down bump or other bump patterns. Using accelerometer-based inertial measurements, multiple users can control multiple mouse cursors on a large display with their mobile devices in order to select information to be downloaded to their mobile devices. The multiple users can bump the display in order to select their items simultaneously.

Abstract: A number of unread messages having a time of reception within a time interval can be determined. A number of read messages having a time of reception within the time interval can also be determined. A number of unseen messages may also be determined. A graphical indicator can be output to represent the number of unread messages relative to the number of received messages. The graphical indicator can show a proportion of the number of unread messages to a total number of messages received within the time interval and can also show a proportion of the number of read messages to the total number. The graphical indicator may further show a proportion of the number of unseen messages to the total number of messages. A group of message indicators of unseen messages can be displayed as separated from message indicators of other messages by a gap.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for generating a message. During operation, the system receives user interaction event data. The user interaction event data describes explicit or implicit interactions of a user with a web application and/or mobile application. Next, the system modifies a graph describing the user's current context associated with the user based on an analysis of the user interaction event data, as interpreted by the system learning from previous processing of user interaction event data. The context graph includes information about the user's state, behavior, and interests, and some or all portions of the context graph may be shared between users. The system determines a set of rules associated with a group of users that includes the user, and then applies the determined set of rules to any context graph associated with the user to generate the message.

In at least one implementation, a user interface to a personal information service is presented by a suitable computing system. In response to a selection of any of the personal information items for viewing, content associated with the item is presented in the viewing pane. In addition, in response to an identification of an action group that includes multiple ones of the personal information items, an action menu is presented in at least a portion of a space in the user interface occupied by the viewing pane.

Abstract: A method for an electronic messager to predict text while composing a reply message, including receiving an incoming message for a user, parsing the incoming message to identify questions, phone numbers and special phrases therein, and presenting, by an electronic messager having a memory and a processor, possible responses that the user may choose from while the user replies to the incoming message, based on the questions, phone numbers and special phrases identified by the parsing.

Abstract: A shared environment is provided for electronic media devices such as game consoles which have Internet connectivity for receiving streaming video content. The shared environment is a virtual world which includes the video content as well as avatars which represent a group of users who have agreed to watch the content together, and scene elements which provide a realistic and eye-catching appearance. The users can enter commands to cause their avatars to emote, such as by cheering. The users can also explore the shared environment from different camera angles. A voice and/or video chat channel can also be enabled to allow the users to speak to and see one another. The video content is synchronized among the electronic media devices of the users so that the users' interactions are more meaningful as they can react to the same portion of the video content in real time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting electronic messages are provided. In some implementations, a method includes, at a computing device having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, (A) causing to be concurrently displayed in an E-mail application (i) a first view of a message folder that includes one or more electronic messages and (ii) a user interface control indicating one or more alternate views are available for the message folder, wherein the user interface control persistently indicates the availability of the one or more alternative views and (B) hiding the user interface control, without user intervention, responsive to the occurrence of a predetermined system event.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for sending a personalized electronic message using predefined templates including personalization symbols is provided. The method includes receiving a selection of an electronic message template from a user, wherein the electronic message template is stored in a data structure and wherein the electronic message template comprises a predefined personalization symbol for personalizing the electronic message template. The method also includes obtaining the electronic message template from the data structure, and generating content for inclusion in a personalized electronic message body based on the electronic message template, the step of generating comprising replacing the personalization symbol, based on a predefined rule, with a default value associated with the personalization symbol. The method further includes providing a draft electronic message comprising the personalized electronic message body. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: An electronic messaging system and method with reduced traceability. Separate displays are provided at a sending user device for separately entering via the user device message content of an electronic message and a recipient address corresponding to the message content such that the separate displays are not displayed via the user device at the same time. The message content and the recipient address are transmitted from the user device separately and the message content is not accessible by a user of the sending user device via the user device after a media component of the message content is transmitted from the device to a server computer.

Each icon is related to a different aspect of a resident software application. The icons are used to indicate the status of their associated aspects of the software application. The method includes generating, by an IM client device, a first event request when a user clicks on a first menu option on the session interface; sending, by the IM client device, the first event request to a third-party server via an IM server; and receiving, by the IM client device, a first event response from the third-party server via the IM server. With the technical scheme of the present disclosure, more personalized services may be provided to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for personalizing dialogues are disclosed. A dialog system can provide a user interface to allow a first user to specify a second user to participate in an automated dialog, a specific response option, and a maximum time period for responding. The dialog system can send a message to the second user with the specific response option. The dialog system can branch the dialog based on the occurrence of an event or combination of events occurring in conjunction the second user. In a first branch, the dialog system is configured to send a second communication to the second user using a second communications channel, the second communication containing the specific response option. In a second branch, the dialog system is further configured to execute a third instruction associated with the dialog.

Abstract: A method and device to simplify message reply composition on a communications device, using a partially transparent overlay to allow a user to freely scroll and move around to other sections of a message or message chain while still being able to see and edit the reply being composed. When the reply is scrolled such that the composition field is not visible on the display screen, the device displays the overlay when the user enters text or on user request. The user may then type text into the overlay while viewing the underlying portion of the reply message, such as previous messages in the string.

Abstract: A method for rendering an e-mail item listing within a graphical user interface of an e-mail application on a display device is disclosed. The received email message includes gadget instructions and associated gadget data. Also in response to user selection of the received email message, an instance of a gadget associated with the gadget instructions in the email message is displayed in the client application. The displayed gadget is updated to reflect the obtained updated gadget data.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and products provide for restricting access to mature content by individuals for whom access to the mature content is designated as inappropriate. A content filter receives a communication, determines that the communication includes an image, and extracts the image. The image is scanned for mature content. A content restrictor component restricts access by various classes of users to the mature content.

Abstract: Techniques are described for display and navigation of hierarchical messages, which displays include contextual data for the messages. Context information for a current message includes reply messages, parent messages, and metadata representations. Message representations are also associated with visual depth indicators that are independent of the text of the messages. Users may navigate displays of hierarchical message data using different navigational inputs. For example, more information may be requested for messages, without selecting a new message for viewing as a focal message, using swipes across portions of the display dedicated to displaying the messages. A limited number of messages for a requested list of messages is initially retrieved and displayed, and a mechanism for viewing more messages from the list is provided. Historical usage of the mechanism is recorded and the number of messages to be displayed for the list of messages is adjusted based on the historical usage data.

According to the techniques presented herein, the messages from the individual stores may be aggregated, and the locations associated with the aggregated messages may be presented in a map, thereby presenting to the user the locations of the messages of the individuals irrespective of from which individual store each message was received. Additionally, the map may present the messages to the user, and upon receiving form the user a reply to a message, may send the message to the individual store from which the message was received.

The IM client groups and sorts buddies in the buddy list according to the buddy list or detailed information of a buddy or a current status of the buddy obtained by the IM client from the IM server, and presents the buddy list according to a grouping and sorting result. Users are enabled to select different presenting manners and search for buddies conveniently.

The system can enable participants in a viewing party to synchronize viewing sessions enabling each participant to share in a common viewing experience. Abstract: An electronic mail management system and method is disclosed comprising a control table for storing information related to sent and received messages of an email client, wherein the stored information relates to header fields of the received and sent messages and, in particular, to fields as defined in Internet Engineering Task Force standard RFC 2822. The system monitors the control table to identify received messages which relate to sent messages and also to identify sent messages which have not been responded to by the recipients of the sent message. The email client displays received messages stored in the control table hierarchically according to the related sent message and also displays the status of the messages in the control table.

Abstract: Communication devices, computer readable media and methods are provided for managing a group messaging session. A graphical user interface comprising a conversation window and a multiplicity of avatars is displayed. Each avatar represents one of a multiplicity of group members. Responsive to transmission of a multicast message from a sending communication device for delivery to the multiplicity of group members, a first status update message indicating delivery of the multicast message to a corresponding receiving communication device for each group member is received. Responsive to receiving the status update message, a delivery notification for each of the multiplicity of group members is displayed. The notification is associated with a corresponding one of the avatars. Further, a second status update message indicating that the multicast message was read at a corresponding receiving communication device is received and a read notification for each of the multiplicity of group members is displayed.
