Abstract: User input identifying a selection of a textual portion of a document (such as an e-reader document, a word processing document, etc.) being displayed in a first computer display region can be received. It can be automatically requested that one or more services identify a context-sensitive meaning of the selection by analyzing textual context information around the selection in the document. Additional information about the identified meaning of the selection can be automatically retrieved from a service. In response to receiving the user input, one or more representations of the information about the identified meaning can be displayed in a second computer display region while the document continues to be displayed in the first computer display region. The first and second display regions can be visible at the same time.

Abstract: An application status system is described herein that informs the user about application-specific status updates and notifications through a changing status icon associated with an application-switching user interface displayed by an operating system when the application is running. When an application has focus, there is typically no way for another application to display status to the user without displaying a dialog box or a notification balloon that interrupts the user. The application status system takes advantage of the existing application-switching user interface to display a lightweight status icon overlay on the application-switching user interface itself. Thus, the application status system allows applications to provide application-specific status updates without interrupting a user's activity in another application and without adding additional UI for a user to process.

Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems receive a reply or forward command for a selected email message in an email user interface and display a composition window in response to the command, wherein the displaying includes a sequence of images to create the illusion of the composition window popping out of the selected email message, the sequence of images including an initial image that is a copy of the selected email message, a final image of the composition window including an editable body, and at least one image between the initial image and the final image that has characteristics of both the initial and final images.

Abstract: A method including presenting one or more tabs on a display of a device corresponding to media content screens, presenting one or more media content items in a media content screen upon selection of a corresponding one of the one or more tabs, the one or more media content items being presented in at least one of scrollable rows and columns, including minimized content information with some of the media content items and including intermediate content information with other media content items and changing at least the intermediate content information to detailed content information corresponding to a selected one of the content items.

Abstract: An application program capable of operating on a prescribed operating system includes a plurality of functional processing units, a window processing unit allowing a window corresponding to any of the functional processing units operated in a case where any of the plural functional processing units is operated, a minimization unit minimizing the window, and a setting selection unit selecting setting information for the minimization. The minimization unit minimizes the window based on the setting information selected by the setting selection unit, and the setting selection unit is capable of selecting the setting information with respect to each of the plural functional processing units.

Abstract: Functionality is implemented to determine that a first content presented by a first graphical user interface container is related to a second content presented by a second graphical user interface container. The first graphical user interface container and the second graphical user interface container are merged to generate a merged container that presents a merged content. The merged content comprises a first constituent content of the merged container that corresponds to the first content and a second constituent content of the merged container that corresponds to the second content. It is determined that a first action associated with the first constituent content can operate upon the second constituent content. The first action operates on the first constituent content when invoked. Computer program code that implements the first action is reconfigured to operate upon the first and the second constituent content of the merged container.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described for navigating between visual components. A first visual component, of a first operating application in a plurality of operating applications, is detected in a first application region of a presentation space of a display device. A first navigation control is presented, in a first navigation region determined based on the first application region, for navigating to a second visual component, of a second application in the plurality, in a second application region in the presentation space. A user input corresponding to the first navigation control is detected. In response to the detected user input, navigation information is sent to navigate to the second visual component.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for conducting market analyses on data drawn from various one or more sources for conducting airline travel and cargo market analyses and the presentation of analysis results using intuitive graphical user interfaces. Data is displayed in a visual dashboard having plural dashboard panes for interfacing an associated user with a plurality of associated databases. Data is presented to an associated user from at least one associated database in drill down enabled hierarchical levels. A user is presented with data from associated firewall protected and non-firewall protected databases in selectable merged visual formats.

Abstract: Systems and methods to preview only selected items from a document are provided. In example embodiments, a selection of one or more selected items from within a document is received. One or more selected items may have an interactive function (e.g., animation, hyperlink, video display, trigger) applied to or associated with it. The selected one or more items are then displayed within a preview display performing the interactive function, whereby no non-selected items from the document are displayed in the preview display. Preview may also allow preview of the selected items without any interactive function being performed.

Abstract: A method includes detecting one of an application access or a file type access, and configuring, in response to detecting the application or file type access, automatically without user interaction, a display system in an image quality configuration for the application or the file type where the image quality configuration is based on providing best image quality with respect to the application or the file type. Configuring the display system in an image quality configuration, may involve determining that a profile associated with the application or associated with the file type is stored in memory, and configuring the display system according to the profile. The method may adjust at least one anti-aliasing parameter or at least one anisotropic filter parameter. The method may monitor an operating system to obtain an indication that an application has been accessed or that a file type has been accessed.

Abstract: An automatic testing application is provided that can simulate a user interaction with a web application. The automatic testing application can determine that the web application has been completely displayed within a graphical user interface of a web browser using a consistent global page state. The automatic testing application can test that the web application has been correctly displayed by verifying a state of a visualization component of the web application using a communication component. Subsequently, the automatic testing application can transmit an event to the web application that can modify the state of the visualization component using the communication component.

Abstract: A framework is provided for obtaining window information. The window information can be applied to different assignment models to assign windows to different groups. A group may correspond to a task being performed by a user. The window information can be semantic or temporal information captured as window events and properties of windows whose events are captured. Temporal information can be information about switches between windows. Semantic information can be window titles. Temporal information, semantic information, or both, can be used to assign windows to groups.

Abstract: A system and method for arranging windows on a screen. The user interface program, called the Graphical User Interface (GUI), provides a user friendly system and method of viewing and/or interacting with computer application programs. The GUI prepares and presents a visual display. The arranging of active and inactive windows on the screen is configured according to prescribed formulas. The GUI also provides the user with a two or three dimensional spatial orientation of the data.

Abstract: A method for generating multiple windows frames, an electronic device thereof, and a computer program product using the method are provided. In the present method, first, a touch trajectory generated by continuously touching a touch panel of the electronic device is detected, wherein the center of the touch panel is a display area, and a non-display area surrounds the display area. Then, whether the touch trajectory is started from one side of the non-display area and passed through the display area to be extended to another side of the non-display area is determined. If so, the display area is split according to the touch trajectory to display at least two windows frames. As a result, an intuitional and convenient method for generating multiple windows frames in the display area is provided, and the operation of the electronic device is made very convenient.

Abstract: This application discloses systems and methods for receiving information associated with a first set of processing instructions and presenting a second icon indicating a change in status of data associated with the first set of processing instructions. A user selection of one of a first icon or the second icon may then be received. The selection of the first icon may cause execution of the first set of processing instructions, whereas selection of the second icon may cause execution of a second set of processing instructions.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to systems and methods for protecting content by automatically identifying a display surface viewable only to authorized users and displaying protected content on the identified display surface. In one example embodiment, content is displayed on a first display surface in viewable range of a first user authorized to view the content. The entrance of a second user into viewable range of the first display surface is detected, and automatically determined to be unauthorized to view the content. A second display surface in viewable range of the first user but not viewable by the second user is automatically identified in response to detecting the entrance of the second, unauthorized user into viewable range of the first display surface. The display of the content is automatically moved from the first display surface to the second display surface to prevent the content from being viewed by the unauthorized user.

Abstract: A parent and child window are arranged in a user interface to cause the child window to behave as a modal window with respect to the parent window, and to behave as a modeless window with respect to a remainder of the user interface. The user interface focus can be shifted without having to close the child window, as would ordinarily be the case with a modal window. Opening the child window from the parent window causes one or more event handlers to be installed in the parent window to prevent input events from being processed by the parent window. The event handler(s) is(are) deinstalled when the child window is closed. This arrangement permits the user interface to take advantage of the properties of modal windows, while providing flexibility for interacting with a remainder of the user interface.

The method includes brightening at least a dimmed portion of the second window in response to the user input for bringing the second window into focus. The method includes gradually dimming at least a visible portion of the first window in response to the user input for bringing the second window into focus. The method includes pausing the dimming, after expiration of a time period, of the at least the visible portion of the first window.

The first column is configured for vertical navigation through each of the plurality of representations and the second column includes a filtered subset of the plurality of representations such that at least one of the representations is included in the first column and not the second column.

Abstract: A computer-human interface provides a mechanism to manage the available space of a computer display in a manner that facilitates navigation among multiple windows that are overlaid upon one another. The interface includes a user-selectable mode in which the windows are rearranged, and resized if necessary, so that all open windows can be simultaneously viewed within the area of the display, thereby enabling any one of the windows to be easily selected for access. In effect, the presentation of the windows is “flattened” so that all windows appear at the same virtual depth, rather than overlapping one another. With this approach, there is no need to minimize windows in order to access one that is overlaid by another, thereby enabling the user to keep the content of all windows visible and accessible. Subsets of windows can be repositioned in the same manner, or all windows can be removed from the display area for access to desktop objects.

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a single-select method and system for launching clinical information in multiple dashboards based on a selection of a single piece of clinical information (e.g., based on a cursor-click selection of a patient name in a patient list). In some embodiments, each launched dashboard is a single “flat” dashboard that cannot be “drilled down” to another dashboard. In other embodiments, each launched dashboard can be a drilldown dashboard, i.e., a dashboard that is several dashboards that are linked together so that a user can navigate between them by selecting items displayed in the dashboards (e.g., by traversing from a first dashboard to a second dashboard through a selection of an item in a window pane of the first dashboard). Accordingly, some embodiments use the single-select method of some embodiments in lieu of drill-down dashboards, while other embodiments use the single-select method in conjunction with drill-down dashboards.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for displaying windows on a graphical user interface based on relative priorities associated with the windows are disclosed. According to one method, relative priorities of a plurality of windows of a graphical user interface are determined. Further, relative priorities of a plurality of portions of at least one of the windows are determined. The windows are automatically arranged on the graphical user interface based on the relative priorities of the windows and based on the relative priorities of the portions. A higher priority window may cover a lower priority portion of a lower priority window to provide for a simultaneous viewing of the higher priority window and a higher priority portion of the lower priority window.

Abstract: A method includes detecting one of an application access or a file type access, and configuring, in response to detecting the application or file type access, automatically without user interaction, a display system in an image quality configuration for the application or the file type where the image quality configuration is based on providing best image quality with respect to the application or the file type. Abstract: An apparatus and method for creating a coordinated image display. A computer system comprising stored digital templates for said image display can be operated by a user to generate the image display. The templates each have a plurality of digital openings for displaying digital images and each of those openings has a required image attribute. The group of required attributes for the openings are stored as a template recipe. The template recipe includes a required image attribute for a dependent opening. The dependent opening is dependent on an image attribute of an image captured by a capture device coupled to the computer system, which includes scanners and cameras. The captured image can be of a paint swatch, a fabric, furniture, carpeting, or any other item or image.

Abstract: A method of controlling a search controller includes: monitoring a top level window which is activated on a top level among applications in execution; determining whether the monitored top level window corresponds to a File Open dialog box; attaching the search controller to the File Open dialog box, when the monitored top level window is determined as the File Open dialog box; retrieving a file corresponding to a query which is inputted from a user via the search controller, and outputting a file search result list via the search controller, the file search result list including the retrieved file; receiving a selection on a particular file, which is included in the file search result list, from the user; and transmitting path information associated with the particular file to the File Open dialog box.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media that allow a user to select and add subsections of multiple websites to a single aggregated website that will automatically retrieve updated content corresponding to the selected subsection are provided. The content from the selected subsections may be displayed on the aggregated website. The aggregated website will periodically check a source website and update the content displayed on the aggregated site if the source website has been updated. The application generating the source website determines which subsection of the updated website corresponds with the subsection originally selected for display by comparing the document object model (“DOM”) for both the updated web page and the original version of the web page at the time the subsection selection was made by the user. Condensed DOM trees may be generated for the updated web page and the original version of the web page, prior to comparing the two DOM trees.

Abstract: At a client device with a display and in a method for displaying messages at the client device, the client device receives message information from a server system, the message information representing a set of messages. In accordance with a determination that the set of messages include one or more unread priority messages, where priority messages are messages that satisfy predefined message importance criteria, the device presents a new mail notification. In accordance with a determination that the set of messages do not include any unread priority messages, the device foregoes presenting a new mail notification.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a generation unit for generating a plurality of different values for one parameter of a processing applied on an image, a presentation unit for presenting a plurality of processing images obtained by performing a processing on the image with the plurality of different values for the parameter, and a selection unit for selecting an optimal one of the plurality of presented processing images, in which a final value for the parameter is decided by repeatedly performing such a procedure that the generation unit further generates different values for the parameter on the basis of a value for the parameter corresponding to the selected processing image, the presentation unit presents processing images obtained by performing a processing on the image with the generated different values for the parameter, and the selection unit selects an optimal one of the presented processing images.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting the same data to more than one client node or from an application to at least two client nodes. The method includes connecting a first client node and a first client protocol stack and connecting the application and the first client protocol stack; associating a first minimal communications protocol stack with the first client protocol stack; providing a connection between the application and the first minimal communications protocol stack and between a second client node and a second client protocol stack; associating a second minimal communications protocol stack with the second client protocol stack; providing a connection between the first minimal protocol stack and the second minimal protocol stack; and between the second minimal protocol stack and said the client protocol stack. And an edge detection command corresponding to each of the reselected measurement tools is generated when the size of the selected DXF feature is larger than the size of the image area.

Abstract: Described is a method for visually delineating a relationship between diverse, but related graphical objects in a graphical user interface. An icon that has specified color scheme is associated with the diverse, but related but graphical objects. When one of the related graphical objects is displayed, the icon is displayed within the displayed graphical object. The persistence of the icon with the specified color scheme in the displayed graphical objects allows them to be recognized as related.

Abstract: An electronic device, a display device, and a method of controlling audio/video output of the electronic device are disclosed. The electronic device includes a data processing unit, a visual output unit, an audio output unit, and a user operating habit database. The data processing unit executes an application program, the visual output unit outputs an image signal, the audio output unit outputs an audio signal, and the user operating habit database records a corresponding relationship between different program types and operating parameters of the visual output unit or the audio output unit. And, the data processing unit acquires the program type of the application program being run for controlling the operating parameters of the visual output unit or the audio output unit.
