Abstract: An improved system and method for providing context information of executable code to an input method is provided. Advanced text input methods may be made aware of the type of text expected to be received as input so that input methods may achieve a higher accuracy in recognition of text input. Generic interfaces provide a framework for supporting application authoring platforms to allow application developers to easily specify context information to the system and have it reliably forwarded to the correct input methods. Additionally, a context tagging tool may associate specific text input fields of an existing application with an input scope without modifying the application itself. The context tagging tool may create a manifest that contains tags associating the specific text input fields with an input scope. Any advanced input methods use by the application may be updated with instructions for accessing the context information stored in the manifest.

Abstract: Executing a desired processing immediately by a simple operation using a jog dial for example. The display unit (3) has a jog dial (4) (a first operating means) and a back button (5) (second operating means) provided vertically at the right upper corner thereof. The jog dial (4) can be rotated and pushed. The back button (5) is to undo an operation having been made by pushing the jog dial (4), and it is located near the jog dial (5).
Abstract: A computing device comprises a display screen, the computing device is able to display on the screen a contact list automatically causes the relative prominence of one or more letters in one or more names to alter. For example, only the first letter of each name may be displayed; this facilitates fast scrolling through the contact list to the desired target.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of editing data generated by handwriting. The method comprises the steps of detecting an initiation of an editing; identifying a marking stroke which marks data that is to be edited; determining an essentially minimal convex envelope which surrounds the marking stroke; identifying the remaining data, in addition to the data of the actual marking stroke, which is positioned within the convex envelope; and performing an editing operation on said data positioned within the convex envelope. The invention also relates to a handheld device and a computer program for editing of data generated by handwriting.
Abstract: A system and method for unobtrusively detecting a subject's level of interest in media content, includes detecting to what a subject is attending, measuring a subject's relative arousal level; and combining information regarding the subject's arousal level and attention to infer a level of interest.

Abstract: Digital television allows access to the Internet. However, arrow keys on a remote control are not suited for navigating web pages containing non-uniformly spaced selectable hypertext links. A web-browser or operating system window manager may be modified to allow movement of a focus along a co-ordinate system defined by the arrow keys on the remote control and to permit the focus to be positioned in-between the links. Thus, movement of the focus from one link to another is intuitive and predictable.
Abstract: An imaging system has a computer which monitors changes to any given front-panel control setting for a particular image processing parameter (e.g., dynamic range, transmit foci position, Doppler wall filter setting, etc.) as compared to its default or preset value. For each user ID (e.g., based on the system user's name or any user code) and each application type, if, over a number of exam cycles, the user is found to consistently adjust a particular control setting to values that deviate significantly from the preset value, the system computer will automatically adjust the preset value to, e.g., the average setting of that image processing parameter over the past N trials, where N is a predefined integer number.

Abstract: A portable terminal provided with a text browser for perusing text contents which are supposed to be displayed on a display of the portable terminal, and a help browser for perusing help contents showing methods of utilizing the text contents. When a certain message is inputted from outside, it is determined whether the input message is a text message or a help message, according to which either the text browser or the help browser is activated. The help browser outputs the help contents through text, voice, static images, or moving images. The portable terminal sets each of a plurality of switch keys to an effective state or an ineffective state in accordance with the contents of the help contents. In setting certain switch keys to effective states, LEDs, etc. provided corresponding to those switch keys are lighted.
