  • Patent number: 8914743
Abstract: An electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface displays a portion of a list of identifiers. The list of identifiers are associated with: a first number of first content items associated with a first language, and a second number of second content items associated with a second language. The device concurrently displays a character selection element that includes: a first sub-element associated with the first content items and having a first size, and a second sub-element associated with the second content items and having a second size, the first size relative to the second size being based on the first number relative to the second number. In response to detecting an input on the second sub-element, the device displays a portion of the list of identifiers with identifiers associated with second content items.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a touch panel display and circuitry for controlling the touch panel display such that an initial selection range of at least one of one or more character strings and one or more images is displayed. The circuitry determines, based on a predetermined condition of an input operation, a first mode and a second mode of altering the initial selection range. The circuitry alters the initial selection range by controlling the touch panel display such that, in response to a detection of the input operation and based on the determined mode, a starting point and/or an end point of the initial selection range are moved at a predetermined speed. The circuitry respectively controls the touch panel display under the first mode and the second mode such that the predetermined speed is different than, or the same as, a speed that the instruction object moves on the operation surface.

Abstract: Disclosed are several methods, apparatus, and a system to create, expose, and hide embedded secondary content data relevant to a primary content page of an electronic book generated by a content generating device. The method, system, and apparatus is enabled through a Y-axis slide apart gesture that is applied to a notification region of the primary content page such that the secondary content data is made visible when the Y-axis slide apart gesture is applied to the notification region. The method, system, and apparatus is also enabled through a Y-axis pinch close gesture that is applied to a boundary of an exposed pane that is appearing in the primary content page such that the Y-axis pinch close gesture collapses the exposed pane in which the secondary content data is made visible. In one embodiment, the system comprises an association server, an electronic book distribution server, and a content rendering device.

  • Patent number: 8893037
Abstract: User interfaces facilitate user interaction with virtual representations of anatomical structures that are displayed on computing systems. The user interfaces demonstrably reflect the relative impact of different medical conditions on the anatomical structures. The impact of the medical conditions can be reflected in real-time, as a slider object is manipulated to pull a slide transition screen over the anatomical object. Portions of the anatomical object that become overlapped by the slide transition screens are displayed with dynamic modifications that reflect the impact of the medical conditions associated with the slide transition screens.

  • Patent number: 8881044
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, are described for representing ranges of image data at multiple resolutions, for example, in the form of a histogram or other suitable graphical representation. In one aspect, the methods include the actions of displaying a graphical representation of image data for a digital image, where the graphical representation has a predetermined range that spans a first range portion and a second range portion. The methods further include the actions of receiving user input requesting to expand image data displayed in the first range portion. In addition, the methods include the actions of modifying display of the graphical representation in response to the received input, to cause the first range portion to visually expand and to cause the second range portion to visually compress.
