In response to the first request, links to a plurality of content categories are sent for display on the user device. The content categories include a plurality of content items. Furthermore, a first group of content items determined to be relevant to the user is identified in accordance with one or more relevance criteria. The first group of content items includes a first subset of the plurality of content items. In response to the first request, links to the first group of content items are sent for display on the user device in addition to the plurality of content categories.

Abstract: Described herein is a technology for designing a dashboard. In some embodiments, first and second dashboards are provided. Conflict analysis on the first and second dashboard is performed. The conflicts are resolved if any conflicts are detected. The first and second dashboards are merged to form a merged dashboard if no conflicts are detected or after resolving the conflicts.

Abstract: A system, method and program product for facilitating copy and paste operations of an object between a source application and a target application in an interactive computing environment. A system is disclosed that includes: a formatting system for determining a set of target formats for the object; and a container system for installing a container into the target application, wherein the container includes a selection system for selectively rendering the object in each of the target formats within the container.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for browsing an object list are disclosed. The method includes providing an object list, wherein the object list includes a first region and a second region, multiple first-level categories are displayed in the first region, and multiple second-level categories are displayed in the second region; obtaining a status of the object list, and determining whether the status of the object list meets a preset condition; and performing a switching control on a second-level category displayed in the second region based on a status of the second-level category displayed in the second region upon determining that the status of the object list meets the preset condition.

Abstract: A default virtual interface is replaced by an adapted interface to an independent application. The adapted interface allows one (dependent) application to be accessed from within a second (independent) application. This allows, for example, a game application to be executed within a text messaging application. Output of the dependent application can be conveyed to the base application. The adapted user interface optionally includes a plurality of shortcut keys each represented by a different shortcut icon. One or more of the shortcut keys are optionally configured for sharing the dependent and/or independent applications with remote devices. Content shared via the virtual interface is optionally provided as a data stream and is optionally mapped to a social network, such sharing can be tracked across social networks.

Abstract: An online system receives a content item from content providers and a target audience criterion and for targeting the received content item. The online system determines recommendations of modifications of the target audience criteria such that users of the modified target audience criteria have a higher likelihood of interacting with the content item compared to the received target audience criteria. The online system stores measures of interest of subsets of users for different topics. The online system determines topics associated with the content item and determines measures of interest of subsets of users in the content item based on topics associated with the content item. The online system provides recommendations for modifying the target audience criteria based on the determined measures of interests of users.

In response to an element in a user interface being triggered, a first region is identified based at least in part on the location of an input device pointer and the triggered element. An enlarged region is identified based at least in part on the first region. It is determined whether to modify the user interface based at least in part on whether the pointer is moved within the enlarged region.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and system to optimize the display of related elements. The method includes a processor obtaining data elements and groups of data elements, and relationships between data elements in different groups and identifying parent-child dependencies between the groups. The processor identifies a root group among the groups: the root group has no parent dependency. The processor orders data elements in the root group, based on a predetermined policy and determines a display order of data elements in groups that are not root groups by optimizing a length of relationship lines representing the relationships between the data elements in different groups. The processor also determines a scroll position for each group and displays, in a graphical user interface on the display, the groups with a scroll bars at the scroll position in each group, and the relationships between data elements in different groups.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for displaying a structured document that includes a hierarchy of structural elements. The hierarchy is constructed by analyzing an unstructured document. The method displays the structured document on a device. The method receives a selection of a position of interest in the document. Based on the position of interest, the method identifies a structural element within the hierarchy as a region of interest. The method modifies the display of the document to highlight the identified region of interest.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for displaying menu options. A menu icon is displayed on a touch-sensitive screen. In some embodiments, the menu icon is displayed with a feed from a social networking system. In response to detecting a contact with the menu icon, an animation of a plurality of sub-menu icons emanating from the menu icon is displayed. The sub-menu icons move along different predefined paths to different predefined positions. Each sub-menu icon is associated with an interface to post content to a social networking system. In response to detecting a contact with a sub-menu icon, the interface associated with the sub-menu icon is displayed.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for requesting information upon returning to a search results list is presented. A search results list is presented to a user. The user can then navigate to an item referenced in the search results list. The user is provided with additional content when the user returns to the search results list, the additional content permitting the user to provide comments regarding the item previously navigated to from said search results list.

Abstract: An example method for processing visual communications at a video camera according to the disclosure includes analyzing video content captured by the video camera to identify a visual command presented to the camera by a user in the field of view of the camera, executing the visual command identified from the video content captured by the video camera, wherein executing the visual command includes setting one or more operating parameters of the video camera, determining a command completion indication corresponding to whether the command was successfully executed, and providing a command completion indication, corresponding to the command completion indication, to the user.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for the presentation of telephone information about a company or other enterprise over the Internet in response to consumer searches for names or products. Department information is included. The system uses a database to determine product slightly sold my search for companies to provide advertisers or sponsors with preferential placement of their ads. Revenue is charged response to clicking on an advertisement. The system also places telephone calls over the Internet to users of the inventive search engine. Advertisers are charged for such calls. Optionally, the system may not allow direct dialing for non-advertisers.

Abstract: A vehicle multimedia system simplifies a user's interaction with the system. A user may access a specific media unit by actuating a switch corresponding to a media unit. A preference unit detects the user's selection of the media unit and selects an end item based on a programmed criterion. The preference unit may automatically activate the end item. The preference unit may be overridden by the user when a switch corresponding to the selected media unit is actuated multiple times. The preference unit may also manage data lists and data packets that store the information used for the criterion comparison.

Abstract: This document describes techniques for contextually intelligent code editing. In at least some embodiments, the techniques are network-based and can use client-server interactions to develop programming code. For example, input to a local programming environment of a client can be transmitted to a server. A functionality at the server can inspect the input and determine programming options (e.g., programming terms and/or phrases) that are contextually valid in the local programming environment. A list of the programming options can then be transmitted to the client and presented via a user interface. In some embodiments, a selection of one of the programming options can cause the programming option to be populated to the local programming environment, e.g., as part of a user interface associated with the local programming environment. In at least some embodiments, the list of programming options can be cached locally on the client for quick retrieval.

Abstract: Disclosed are implementations of methods, systems, and computer program products for displaying a personalizable links presentation. In some implementations, a server provides link data identifying a plurality of links comprising a first link linked with a first identifiable portion of content of a page and a second link linked with a second identifiable portion of the content of the page. The user interface has a first state in which a first view of the page of content is displayed, with the links presentation being displayed in a designated region of the user interface. The user interface is updatable from the first state to a second state in which a second view of the page of content different from the first view is displayed. Responsive to a selection of the first link, the server updates the user interface to the first state.

Abstract: An apparatus to permit a viewer of a digital microscopy original image to manipulate the display and/or the microscope to obtain an enhanced view of a region of interest within the original image. In one preferred embodiment a spotlight mode matches the gray shade scale for a spotlight region-of-interest to the pixel intensity variation present in the spotlight region. The gray shade scale used for the spotlight mode may then be generalized to the original image. In a preferred embodiment, spotlight mode provides an easy mechanism for permitting a user to command a re-imaging of a selected spotlight region from a displayed image. Such re-imaging may permit the use of imaging parameter selections that better fit the spotlight region.

Abstract: A method for inspecting short-circuit of circuit layout and a device using the same are provided, the method including: obtaining a circuit layout, wherein the circuit layout including a plurality of components; searching at least one of physical short-circuit components on the circuit layout among the components; adjusting the at least one of the physical short-circuit components so as to set the at least one of the physical short-circuit components to an open circuit state; inspecting whether the circuit layout has a short-circuit; and recovering the at least one of the physical short-circuit components to the at least one of the physical short-circuit components before adjustment. Thus, the short-circuit errors needed to be corrected in the circuit layout are detected exactly.

Abstract: A user interface to access visual gadgets for program applications, wherein the user interface arranges the gadgets in a layout, wherein the layout pans, within a computer touch screen display, to bring a subset of the gadgets into the display and to move another subset of the gadgets out of the display, and in response to an object touching a specific gadget in the display that is not currently activated: activates the specific gadget's program application, replaces the specific gadget within the layout with a GUI window for the specific gadget's program application, wherein the GUI pans, within the window, to bring a portion of the GUI into the window and to move another portion of the GUI out of the window, and moves other gadgets within the layout in order to accommodate space for the window for the specific gadget's program application.

Abstract: Systems and methods for displaying electronic messages are disclosed. In some implementations, a method includes, at a computing device, displaying a user interface for a messaging application, comprising an electronic message list. The message list comprises a plurality of objects. Each respective object in the plurality of objects is visually distinct in the message list and represents one or more corresponding electronic messages. The method includes detecting user selection of an object in the message list and in response to detecting user selection of the object, toggling display of the first object from a first state to a second state. The method includes moving a first subset of objects vertically upward, where the first subset of objects comprises one or more objects above the selected object, and moving a second subset of objects vertically downward, where the second subset of objects comprises one or more objects below the selected object.

A selector is monitored for activation when a pointer is within one of the subregions (1203). Abstract: A system and method are described herein that provide for dynamically controlling a chart visualized in a user interface by turning business objects visualized in the chart into clickable action buttons to trigger corresponding business actions. Business objects are retrieved from a backend server and displayed as visual representations in a chart rendered in a calendar application user interface. A user clicking or tapping a visual representation in the chart triggers a corresponding predefined action that has been customized in the connected system or backend server and is dynamically assigned to the chart control based on the business context of the calendar application.

Abstract: A system and method for implementing a dynamic menu characterized by a real-time menu architecture. An example method includes determining a menu structure, with reference to a data set, for use with user interface software. A menu is then displayed, wherein the menu includes menu items arranged according to the menu structure. An initial drop-down menu list of the menu includes one or more of the menu items. Each menu item is associated with a data object of the data set. A signal is generated when a change is made to a data set corresponding to a menu item. The menu is then updated based on the signal. In an illustrative embodiment, the example method further includes employing a browser to trigger implementation of the method. The browser communicates with a web server, which communicates with an application that is adapted to analyze the data set and associated data structure and provide an update in response thereto via, the signal, to the web server.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a user interface for mobile devices enable data and services available through the mobile device to be represented as a set of tiles maintained in a display space. The tiles provide a snapshot of the current state of content available through the mobile device without requiring any interaction by the user. The tiles and display space are customizable and can be dynamically updated to display content to a user. In addition, tiles can provide functionality, including simple tasks to a user without requiring the user to navigate away from the tile display space. Tiles can also provide quick access to start software applications. Tiles can be organized in the display space by the user or the tiles can be automatically grouped based upon associated metadata.

Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display section, a display control section, a distance detection section, and a coordinate detection section. The display section has a display area in which a selection image is displayed. When the selection image is formed by a plurality of images hierarchically associated with one another, the display control section displays consecutively the images configuring the selection image in accordance with the hierarchical association. The distance detection section detects a spatial distance between a pointer and the display area. The coordinate detection section detects coordinates which correspond to a position of the pointer. The display control section displays, together with a specified image displayed at a position corresponding to the coordinates detected by the coordinate detection section, related images in an immediately lower level in the hierarchy associated with the specified image, when the spatial distance detected is shorter than a preset threshold distance.

Abstract: A display apparatus and a user interface display method of the display apparatus are provided. The display apparatus classifies menu items of a service menu or an OSD menu according to the frequency of use of the menu items, generates icons corresponding to the classified menu items, and displays the icons on a screen using a user interface. Accordingly, the user can display a user interface on the screen in a preferable manner, and easily find and utilize a desired menu item.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a touchscreen and a method of controlling the mobile terminal may be provided. The mobile terminal may cause the touchscreen to display a first item; cause the touchscreen to display a first indicator on at least part area of the first item upon receiving a first input of the first item; and cause the touchscreen to display a second item upon receiving a second input of the first indicator. Abstract: System and method involving user interfaces and remote control devices. These user interfaces may be particularly useful for providing an intuitive and user friendly interaction between a user and a device or application using a display, e.g., at a “10 foot” interaction level. The user interfaces may be specifically designed for interaction using a simple remote control device having a limited number of inputs. For example, the simple remote control may include directional inputs (e.g., up, down, left, right), a confirmation input (e.g., ok), and possibly a mute input. The user interface may be customized based on current user activity or other contexts (e.g., based on current or previous states), the user logging in (e.g., using a communication device), etc. Additionally, the user interface may allow the user to adjust cameras whose video are not currently displayed, rejoin previously left videoconferences, and/or any of a variety of desirable actions.

Abstract: To increase command-access efficiency and to optimize a user's available user interface work space, an improved user interface is provided for displaying logical groupings of selectable software functionality controls that are associated with one or more selected top-level functionalities. Upon selection of a top-level functionality tab, selectable functionalities associated with the top-level functionality tab are divided into logical groupings and are presented in a customizable functionality control section below the tab. Upon selection of a different top-level functionality tab, selectable functionalities associated with the subsequently selected top-level functionality tab may either replace the first functionality control section or may be displayed in a separate functionality control section adjacent to the first functionality control section if real estate is available in the user interface.

The user may automatically activate the menu by performing a unique gesture on the rendered web page and/or by selecting a portion of the web page content. The WPBC menu may provide a list of applications which may be selected for modifying and managing the portion of selected web page content. The application may provide full functionality for managing the web page content in a separate user interface and/or directly on the rendered web page. Furthermore, manipulation of data presentation on the rendered web page such as table properties of a spreadsheet may be enabled through natural gestures.

Abstract: A photographing device is provided, including a photographing unit, an image processor which separates an object from a first photographing image obtained by the photographing unit, a display which displays background live view on which the separated object is superimposed, and a controller which obtains a second photographing image corresponding to the background live view when a command to shoot a background is input, and generates a composite image by adding the separated object onto the second photographing image. Accordingly, a composite image may be easily generated.
