Abstract: Computer-readable media, methods, and systems are disclosed for displaying paginated growing widgets. At generation time, a pagination service negotiates widget bounds. The pagination service transmits proposed bounds and a starting index to the growing widgets and receives a number of items that can be displayed as well as updated bounds for all items that can be displayed. The pagination service creates a cache entry including a widget identifier, updated widget bounds, and a starting and ending widget data item index. If a particular page is not present in the widget pagination cache, the pagination service performs another bounds negotiation. At display time, the pagination service instructs each of the paginated growing widgets to render updated widget data items based on a corresponding widget pagination cache entry, without reprocessing a document object model associated with a front-end application on which the paginated growing widgets are displayed.

Abstract: Aspects described herein may allow for generating a filter list to facilitate users to refine their online search. Data items displayed on a web page may be determined based on the user's input data, for example, based on a selection command selecting the data items. Each data item corresponds to a feature of a product. Filters corresponding to the data items may be determined and the weight of each filter may be updated. A filter list may be generated and displayed to facilitate the user to refine his search for a class of products. The filters on the filter list may be automatically ordered based on the weight of each filter. In this way, a user may be able to find filters that are associated with features that he cares about the most and therefore use the filter list to obtain more satisfying results.

Abstract: Various embodiments and related methods are provided that can include or operate a variety of modular systems such as a group of user interfaces and software modules which receive inputs from the user interfaces to perform Secure Configuration Evaluation, Remediation, and Reporting Tool tasks. Exemplary modules can include a scan or current state module to populate and/or identify a current state configuration as well as collecting available information on available vulnerability patches or system updates, a software, update, and/or patch configuration selection module that generates a “picklist” user interface for all available software, patches or updates or optionally patches or updates that meet one or more search criteria associated with a baseline data, a data store with install files for all selected or available software, patches or updates selected with the picklist user interface, an installer export package system to generate install packages, and an access/use verification system.

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing customized drop-down menus in user interface displays. Drop-down menus include one or more selection options and a table having multiple fields. Drop-down menu items are particularly useful for assisting a user with assigning information synchronized into a target database from one database system, such as an Outlook file, to objects in the target database system, such as a multi-tenant database system as well as providing suggestions to the user from search results when they may want to choose one of those results or perform a different action altogether.

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing customized drop-down menus in user interface displays. Drop-down menus include one or more selection options and a table having multiple fields. Drop-down menu items are particularly useful for assisting a user with assigning information synchronized into a target database from one database system, such as an Outlook file, to objects in the target database system, such as a multi-tenant database system as well as providing suggestions to the user from search results when they may want to choose one of those results or perform a different action altogether.

Abstract: When a user enters text into an application, the application can utilize an auto-complete feature to provide the user with estimations as to a complete term a user is attempting to enter into the application. Visualization can be provided along with an estimation to disclose the likelihood the estimation is what the user intends to enter. Furthermore, a rationale can be provided to the user for the reason an estimation was provided to the user.

Abstract: A method and system for performing quick reply operations are disclosed. The method for quick reply operations includes displaying a text box; determining a display area of the text box; and receiving a user instruction. The method further includes determining whether the user instruction is a pull-down gesture in the display area of the text box; determining whether the pull-down gesture exceeds a threshold length; and displaying a quick reply text box. The method and system consistent with the present disclosure implement quick reply functions and improve the user experience for replying to various messages and postings.

Abstract: A method for unlocking a screen of the electronic device are provided. The method includes: detecting, in a screen-locked state, intent of a user to unlock the screen; if it is detected that the user intends to unlock the screen, extracting contact information from the storage unit of the electronic device, where the extracted contact information includes a first attribute value and second attribute values; displaying the first attribute value of the extracted contact information on the screen and displaying the second attribute values in a selectable manner; and detecting an operation of choosing a second attribute value by the user, and comparing the second attribute value chosen by the user with a second attribute value that is in the storage unit and corresponding to the displayed first attribute value; if the two values are the same, unlocking the screen; and otherwise, maintaining the screen-locked state.

Abstract: To increase command-access efficiency and to optimize a user's available user interface work space, an improved user interface is provided for displaying logical groupings of selectable software functionality controls that are associated with one or more selected top-level functionalities. Upon selection of a top-level functionality tab, selectable functionalities associated with the top-level functionality tab are divided into logical groupings and are presented in a customizable functionality control section below the tab. Upon selection of a different top-level functionality tab, selectable functionalities associated with the subsequently selected top-level functionality tab may either replace the first functionality control section or may be displayed in a separate functionality control section adjacent to the first functionality control section if real estate is available in the user interface.

Abstract: A method of operating a display device of a vehicle is provided on which information is representable in list form with a number of list entries, while the display device size is given and the type and font size are predefined. Each list entry has a second number of maximally representable characters. For the first number of list entries currently to be represented on the display device, it is determined whether, in each case, two mutually successive list entries each have a number of characters that is greater than the second representable number. In the affirmative case, the representable second number of characters of the mutually successive list entries is compared with respect to distinctiveness. When an indistinctiveness is determined, a distinctiveness of these two list entries will be established on the display.

Abstract: An example method for facilitating software navigation includes storing navigation history information pertaining to user interaction with software; displaying one or more representations of breadcrumbs in accordance with the navigation history information, resulting in displayed breadcrumbs; detecting when a number of breadcrumbs exceeds a threshold number of breadcrumbs; and replacing, in response to the detection, one or more of the breadcrumbs with a user interface control adapted to selectively display representations of the one or more breadcrumbs in response to user selection of the user interface control. Hence, certain breadcrumbs of a breadcrumb trail may be condensed or collapsed, e.g., into a drop-down menu control, when a breadcrumb trail would otherwise be too large to display.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a system and method is illustrated that includes receiving input to execute a function associated with a display element of a Graphical User Interface (GUI), the display element to display edit history data relating to a displayed portion of structured data. The system and method also includes retrieving the edit history data for the displayed portion of the structured data based upon the function, the edit history data reflecting changes made to the displayed portion of the structured data. The system and method also includes displaying the edit history data in the GUI as part of the display element.

Abstract: A method in one embodiment includes determining which elements of a storage environment or system have been selected for addition to a group, each of the elements being associated with a tier; adding the selected elements to the group; determining whether a parent of each of the selected elements has also been selected, the parent of each of the selected elements being in a higher tier than the element; adding the parent to the group as an element if the parent of any of the selected elements has not been selected; associating the elements in the group into subgroups; generating a view of at least some of the elements in the group, the view representing the tier of the elements in the view, the elements being spatially organized by subgroup; and outputting the view. Additional systems, methods and computer program products are also disclosed.

Abstract: A Drop Down Menu Program having an Item Selection Program, a Sorting Program, and a Recall Program. The Item Selection Program eliminates the need for the user to hold down the shift key or the control key while making multiple selections. Instead, the user may activate a menu item to highlight it, and activate the menu item again to remove the highlight. The user may also open and close the drop down menu. The Sorting Program organizes the menu items in order of frequency of use. The Sorting Program also provides ascending and descending sort buttons that allow the user to sort the menu items in ascending or descending alphabetical, numeric, or chronological order. The Recall Program creates a recall list of selected menu items when the user activates a recall button. The recall list can be displayed and removed independent of opening and closing actions of the drop down menu.

Abstract: In one embodiment, dynamic menu reordering of a menu is effected by presenting a plurality of menus; receiving a menu selection; in response to the menu selection, presenting a plurality of menu options, each of which menu options occupies a respective menu position; receiving reordering information; and in response to the reordering information, reordering at least one menu position occupied by a respective memory option. In an additional embodiment, menu-option position information is retained in accordance with reordering information; and upon a subsequent menu selection, menu options are presented so that at least one menu option occupies a user-defined position.

The GUI optionally allows selected a line or segment for transmission from the computer to another computer, wherein copies one or more documents or software applications are transmitted to the second computer.

Abstract: Described herein are processes and devices that automatically generate a player profile. One of the devices described is a wagering game system. The wagering game system can present a plurality of pictures on a wagering game machine, kiosk, or other network device. The plurality of pictures includes aesthetic content. The wagering game system can receive player input indicating a preference for the aesthetic content of at least one of the plurality of pictures. The wagering game system can generate a wagering game player profile to store player preferences associated with wagering games and wagering game machines. The wagering game system can assign values to the player preferences based on the preference for the aesthetic content.

Abstract: Expandable user interface menu techniques are described, including displaying a menu having a menu item, receiving an input indicating selection of the menu item, and expanding the menu, based on one or more parameters associated with the menu item, to present a structure configured to receive another input associated with the menu item, the menu item remaining displayed while the menu is expanded.

Abstract: Users are provided with information regarding entities and tasks that are associated with the user's current context, which includes the content currently being presented to the user. Services associated with a search engine database identify entities and associated tasks. A user's context is utilized to identify one or more entities and one or more associated tasks that may be relevant to the user's current context. Entities and tasks are presented through a dedicated menu, icon, or other like dedicated user interface element to which the user can direct action. Also, entities and tasks are presented through a separate user interface context, such as a separate screen. A user's context can also include information regarding future content that will be presented to the user. Then, entities and tasks are presented via the same user interface mechanisms used to request such content, such as textual input user interface mechanisms.

The computer readable medium includes instructions for opening a badge profile, providing a data entry screen based on the profile, receiving data in the data entry screen, and printing customized badges on the printer based on the received data. The badge profile defines a size, type, and location of data to be printed on the customized badges.

Abstract: A method is provided for determining employer compliance in determining employment eligibility requirements in accordance with federal immigration regulations. Compliance alerts and compliance tips are displayed for guiding employers in verifying employment eligibility. Completed employment eligibility forms are automatically audited to analyze whether the employer has accurately completed the employment verification. The completed forms are audited by applying various compliance rules to a completed employment eligibility form, presently a Form I-9, to determine compliance with the applicable regulations. A listing is provided of various errors and additional data required to complete the audited form. The method is preferably administered by a single service provider for multiple employers, to assure that changes in the applicable regulations are regularly incorporated.

A selection of an application with which to open the queued and selected files is received. A second selectable function is provided to automatically open all of the queued and/or selected files with the application, wherein files across different folders can be opened with a single operation of the second function.

Abstract: Multiple dropdowns on a graphical user interface (GUI) are dynamically linked at runtime. The dropdowns are associated with inter-related attributes of an object displayed on the GUI. The content of each dropdown includes a list of values of an attribute and is entirely or partially hidden until the dropdown is selected. The list of values of each dropdown are dynamically generated and rendered at runtime, using stored data that links the attributes to their parent attributes. The stored data can be dynamically updated to reflect currently-available attribute values and the relationship of the attributes.

Abstract: A social networking system includes a question and answer system that allows questions to be associated with social networking system objects. A question is received from a questioning user. A question term is identified, and an object associated with the question term is identified. The identified object is then associated with the question, and this association is stored. Question terms can be identified by the questioning user, or automatically, using contextual information. Question objects may also be identified by using template questions or sample questions provided by the social networking system. The stored association may be used to collection information about answering users, to auto-populate answers, and to generate social networking system stories. The stored association may also be used to collect information about the object of the stored association, to recommend an object to a user, to target advertising to users, and to recommend answers to users.

When the user selects the content linked to a particular category, the user invokes the link-token corresponding to the content to retrieve the content. A dynamic tracking-string with an embedded one-click nested/cascading category browsing apparatus facilitates returning and/or changing path during browsing and examination of electronic media, and allows the user to review more than one path along the category structure while the browser is at a page linked to any category at any level.

Abstract: Methods, media, and systems are provided for presenting potential matches for address book entries across multiple online applications. Interaction between a web site provider, telecommunications network provider, and third-party data sources enable presentation of an input form that can be utilized across applications for a number of different types of information. Potential matches are automatically displayed based on the information provided in an application-independent user-input form. The retrieval of data is for any type of information that may be applicable to the particular software application for which the retrieval is taking place. Computer-readable media and systems are provided for performing methods of presenting potential matches in address book information across a plurality of internet software applications. Computer-readable media for performing methods of facilitating requests for information from one or more user address book databases are also provided.

Abstract: A unified search and browse experience may be provided by combining filters that are based on folder location with filters that are based on search criteria. In one example, a user opens a file explorer program and is presented with an initial set of filters. Some of the filters may be folder names, and other filters may be search queries. The user chooses a filter, and then continues to refine the set of files that he or she is looking for by successively selecting new filters and/or typing new filters free-form. The new filters may be folder names or search criteria. The system may suggest new filters based on analysis of files and/or past user behavior. A filter chain records the user's history of having added filters, and the user may add, delete, or replace filters in the chain.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for printing by using a toolbar button is provided. The apparatus includes a user interface for receiving printing options to be selected by using the toolbar button, and a controller for creating the toolbar button to allow a user to print the file based on a selected printing option and inserting the created toolbar button into a host application. Accordingly, the user can print the file by setting a desired printer and printing option by using the toolbar button without using an additional user interface.

A method in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention includes: providing a GUI control having an entry field; and displaying indicia in the GUI control indicating whether the entry field of the GUI control is writable, wherein a user can visually determine from the indicia whether the entry field of the GUI control is writable before placing a cursor in the entry field.

Abstract: A text input method for an electronic apparatus having a user interface with a touch-sensitive display screen, where a virtual keyboard is presentable on the display screen to facilitate text input for a user by pointing at different virtual keys of the virtual keyboard and where completion functionality is provided for predicting full word candidates for partial word inputs made by the user on the virtual keyboard, the method including receiving a partial word input from the user and deriving a set of full word candidates using the word completion functionality, each of the full word candidates in the set having a prefix and a suffix, where the prefix corresponds to the partial word input. The suffixes for at least a sub set of the full word candidates are presented in a predetermined area on the display screen, where each of the presented suffixes is made selectable for the user.

Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards allowing a phone or other mobile device, or a computer user, to select some portion of content and then quickly share that selected content with a message recipient. A user selects content, and then interacts with the program that displays the content to select a recipient corresponding to a program, such as an SMS, email, instant message or social network recipient. The selected content is automatically provided to the program for sending in a message, including first launching the program if not already running. Also described is queuing selected content, such that multiple pieces of selected content may be combined and sent in a single message.

The collaborative workspace tool further includes a preserving component configured to gather information relating to the selected workspace content, build a workspace object to preserve the selected workspace content and save the workspace object; and a rendering component to build the collaborative workspace on a user device when the workspace object is opened from the user device.

Abstract: An automated learning system for improving graphical user interfaces. Information about a user transaction which caused an error is obtained from an input to an element in a graphical user interface. Associations are created between the error and one or more elements in the graphical user interface which generated the error to form association rules. The association rules are applied to a set of control rules to create user interface preference rules. A corrective action may then be performed on the one or more elements in the graphical user interface according to the user interface preference rules.

Abstract: A method for displaying a user interface (UI) of a display apparatus on a remote control and a remote control applying the same are provided. The remote control includes a controlling unit which identifies information regarding a UI where a cursor is located on a screen of the display apparatus, and a display unit, such as a touch screen, which displays an image corresponding to the identified UI information. Accordingly, a user may remotely control the display apparatus more intuitively and delicately using the touch screen display unit on the remote control.
