Responsive to the fetching, transmitting the first data source to a client side, wherein the client side is configured for storing a second data source comprising one or more fields providing a user interface of the cloud application. Abstract: The present disclosure is directed toward systems and methods that provide users with efficient and effective user experiences when browsing, selecting, or inspecting content items. More specifically, systems and methods described herein provide users the ability to easily and effectively select multiple content items via a single touch gesture (e.g., swipe gesture). Additionally, systems and methods disclosed herein can allow users to select various content items in a selection interface, preview a content item, and return to the selection interface with the previous selections remaining in tact. Still further, systems and methods described herein allow users to transition between a content graphical user interface and a selection interface based on touch gestures with content items.

The user is allowed to select a plural, proper subset of a first set of categories, and a proper subset of a first set of subordinate items is displayed according to the selected plural, proper subset of the first set of categories by the user. The user then allowed to select a plurality of subordinate items of a displayed proper subset of the first set of subordinate items at the display, a proper subset of a second set of subordinate items is displayed according to the selected plurality of the proper subset of the first set of subordinate items.

Abstract: A device may be configured to provide a user interface that supports sequential selection of objects displayed on a screen. As configured, the device may display a presentation of multiple objects, and the device may receive a user input that defines a path within the presentation of displayed objects. The device may then determine the sequential order of a selected subset of the displayed objects. Based on this sequential order, the device may select, initiate, and perform an action that is targeted at the selected subset of the objects. In the context of an action game, the user may trace the path through various enemies, and the device may select and perform the action based on the number of enemies, the type of enemies, or the order in which the enemies were selected. Selection and initiation of the action may begin while the user input is still being received.

Abstract: Interactive and dynamic exploring of filter criteria for large amounts of numerical data having multiple dimensions is described. Exploration occurs without excessive amounts of computation or querying of a database based on a data set summary that may be obtained from a server in a search system and applied by a client device. A data set is summarized so as to capture relationships between distributions of items in the data set along multiple dimensions. To explore filter criteria, a user may interactively adjust a range of values that act as a filter criteria along a dimension and determine an effect on a distribution of items along another dimension. The client device may apply the data summary in reverse to determine, based on user input specifying aspects of a distribution along one dimension, filter criteria for another dimension that would result in the specified distribution.

Abstract: An aspect of the present disclosure stores information related to the elements in the form of an array of objects. Each object contains information indicating the area covered by the object on the display. The index values used for accessing an element may be viewed as forming an N-tuple, with each value of the N-tuple representing the value of the corresponding dimension/index. A swipe is first mapped to a single one of the dimensions and an end position along the dimension. The value of the tuple corresponding to only the dimension is modified and the object corresponding to the tuple is accessed. The area information in the accessed object is examined to determine whether the end position of swipe falls in the display area covered by the element. The tuple value of only the dimension is modified in searching for the element that covers the end position.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for providing a group mode in a computing device to group objects (e.g., files, photos, etc.) displayed and/or stored on the computing device into a bundle. The group mode can be invoked in response to a swipe gesture, a press-and-hold gesture, and/or other user input indicative that the group mode is desired. The user may interact with the bundle once it is formed, including sharing or organizing the bundle as desired, for example. In some cases, the user input used to invoke the group mode may also be used to invoke a bundle interaction, such as to group and share the bundle using a single swipe gesture. In some cases, the user may be able to select the objects desired to be grouped and cause them to be grouped into a bundle using the same user input, such as one continuous swipe gesture.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for searching for items on a computer network, such as the internet, based on a query and an exclusion specification comprising a specification of a characteristic of sources of the items, to create a list of identifiers of items relevant to the query that are not excluded by the exclusion specification. Amongst other things, the characteristics may indicate whether the article represents a breaking news story or whether the article includes advertisements. After analyzing the characteristics of the article, the news reader determines whether the article is to be designated a primary/presentable article and aggregates the article with other primary/presentable articles related to the same topic.

Abstract: Provided are a method of initiating communication in a computing device including a touch sensitive display and the computing device. The method includes detecting a touch gesture that is performed on at least one tagged object included in an image displayed on the touch sensitive display and initiating, in response to the detection of the touch gesture, communication to at least one individual corresponding to the at least one tagged object selected or surrounded by the detected touch gesture, according to the detected touch gesture.

Abstract: By a computer executing a driver program, an icon display processing unit, an operation detection unit, a setting change processing unit, and a customization unit are implemented. The icon display processing unit displays on a display device an icon associated with a setting item in an icon list. Abstract: Media content obtained from a content source (11) comprises a plurality of content items (31) which are accessible by an interactive menu structure (60, 65). A preview presentation mode automatically presents a portion of each of a set of the content items (31) to the user in a sequence which represents a navigation path through multiple levels of the menu structure. This shows a user a preview of content items available for presentation without requiring the user to manually navigate various branches of the menu structure. The menu structure can be explored automatically, or a script (33) can specify which items are to be presented. Movement in one carousel causes movement in the other in a synchronous manner even though the movement may be at different speeds.

Abstract: A method of changing the states of multiple Boolean state items displayed in a computer system user interface window draws a box around a plurality of Boolean state items displayed in the window. Each of the items displayed in the window initial state, which is either of the two Boolean states. In response to drawing the box, the method changes the initial state of at least some of the items within the box to a final state, which is the opposite Boolean state. The change of state may be according to a default behavior. The user may change the default behavior.

Abstract: A user interface element and a visual indicator are displayed to show both a current selected area that tracks a user's touch input and an indication of any items that are considered to be selected (the potential selection). The user interface element (e.g. a border) is displayed whose size may be adjusted by a user using touch input to select more/fewer items. An item visual indicator is displayed for items that are considered to be a potential selection (e.g. items that would be selected if the touch input were to end at the current time). The item visual indicator is configured to show the user an indication of currently selected items without the border appearing to jump in response to another item being selected/deselected. The item visual indicator helps to avoid the need for a user to re-adjust the selection or get unexpected results.

Abstract: A navigation device performs a route guidance based on a route from a current location to a destination, the navigation device being connected to a server for searching the route. A navigation method for the navigation device includes sending a request for searching the route to the server and receiving information on the route from the server. The method also includes measuring an elapsed time from a start of the route guidance, and performing the route guidance based on the information received. The method further includes cutting off a communication with the server and coming into a standby state, upon a determination that the elapsed time measured has reached a predetermined time and when the route is being guided or a current location is being checked, to decrease a bandwidth usage between the navigation device and the server and to reduce a communication charge associated with the bandwidth usage.

Abstract: Selections from a long list of elements on a Graphical User Interface (GUI) are presented. When a context window is presented for the selections, different cues are provided in the context window to provide feedback regarding the selections that are not in the current view, and to also facilitate rapid navigation to those selections on the GUI. Interaction with the GUI widgets within the context window, and interaction with the context window itself, facilitates the navigation toward the other selections that are not in the current view. Interaction with the GUI widgets also facilitates the preview of the selections that are not in the current view, thus making it easier to determine what has been selected without having to navigate to the view that contains those selections.

Abstract: A method and system for providing context dependent pop-up menu icons that activate menu icons in response to a select & drag operation by manipulation of a pointing device. Presented icons may correspond to functions or actions that can be implemented with the particular type of content selected. Icons may be displayed in a consistent manner in terms of position and content with respect to the selected file or object. Icons may appear only during a select & drag operation, thereby leaving the display uncluttered at other times. Presentation of icons may be discontinued when the selected file or object is dragged beyond the area of the presented icons. New applications can register with the operating system to specify icons to be presented when corresponding files are selected or when particular content objects are selected within the application.
