With Cooperating Tool Rotating In Same Direction Patents (Class 72/108)
  • Patent number: 10610920
Abstract: A multi-station, reciprocating die pattern forming machine (500), including a pair of parallel reciprocal slide members (502, 503) with spaced pairs of pattern forming dies (504) thereon reciprocal between an insert position and an eject position. Drive mechanism (505, 506, 510) reciprocates the die pairs alternately between the insert position and eject position. Mechanism delivers and positions a pattern receiving blank (600) to a pair of dies when in the insert position. Axial translation of the dies causes the dies to rotate the blank at a center of process and impart a pattern upon the blank. Servo-motors on blank positioning mechanism provide feedback recognition of the position of the blanks during processing. The invention also relates to a method of patterning blanks.

The involute spline parallel to the axial line of gear formed on the section of clutch spline is formed, by cold forging, into an involute spline with a back taper having a chamfer at the tip. The teeth of the speed gear formed at the speed gear section are finish formed by forming the speed gear teeth by rolling dies, by cold forging, while turning them around a shaft hole with reference to the clutch spline section forming the involute spline with back taper. A speed gear having a speed gear section and a clutch spline section including speed gear teeth and an involute spline with a back taper having a chamfer at the tip is thereby provided.

Abstract: A round die type form rolling apparatus comprises: a pair of die moving blocks 15a, 15b rotatably supporting a pair of round dies 12a, 12b; four beam shafts 19 disposed around the rolling position of a work 33 being rolled by the round dies 12a, 12b and extending between the pair of die moving blocks 15a, 15b; and a push mechanism 20 for moving the pair of die moving blocks 15a, 15b toward each other. The die moving blocks 15a, 15b are moved, guided by the beam shafts 19, toward each other and the reaction forces generated between a pair of the round dies 12a, 12b by the rolling pressure are shared by the beam shafts 19 to prevent the round dies from escaping outwardly upwardly due to the reaction force from the work that is generated when the rolling pressure is applied to the work. This arrangement improves the machining precision of the work.

The process comprises the following steps: (a) bringing gear teeth of a generally wheel-shaped toothed tool into press contact with a peripheral portion of a generally wheel-shaped gear material at which portion gear teeth are to be formed; and (b) bringing gear teeth of a generally wheel-shaped backup roller into press contact with the peripheral portion of the gear material in course of formation of the gear teeth under rolling so that the gear teeth of the backup roller are to be in mesh with the gear teeth formed at the peripheral portion of the gear material under the action of the toothed tool. The backup roller has an inclined section for forming a chamfered portion of each tooth of the spur gear to be produced.
